About this property
Secluded Off Grid Mountain Yurt with Power and Starlink
Private mountain yurt near Garden Valley, Crouch, Banks, and the South Fork Payette River
Escape to a secluded mountain yurt surrounded by nearly 45 wooded acres in Garden Valley, Idaho. Located between Banks and Crouch and approximately one mile from the South Fork of the Payette River, this private wilderness retreat combines an authentic off-grid setting with electricity, fast Starlink Wi-Fi, heat, air conditioning, propane cooking, a wood stove, and a large private deck.
This is not a neighborhood, campground, or resort experience. Guests should expect privacy, forest, wildlife, dark skies, mountain roads, and real seasonal conditions. It is best suited for travelers who want quiet and adventure rather than conventional hotel conveniences.
The yurt is a comfortable basecamp for exploring Garden Valley and the surrounding Idaho mountains. Nearby activities include:
• Hiking and mountain biking • Rafting and kayaking • Fishing • Hot springs • Snowshoeing and cross-country exploring • Skiing and winter recreation • ATV and UTV riding • Wildlife viewing • Stargazing • Hunting and other seasonal outdoor activities
Private setting
The yurt sits in a visually secluded area of our nearly 45-acre mountain property. Mature ponderosa pines surround the site, and the deck provides a peaceful place to drink coffee, cook outdoors, watch wildlife, or enjoy the stars.
Guests also have access to a private four-hole disc golf course with discs and a cornhole set.
We live elsewhere on the property but respect guest privacy. Most visitors never see us unless they request assistance.
Sleeping arrangements
The open-layout yurt sleeps up to 5 guests:
• Two guests on the padded lower bunk • One guest on the padded upper bunk • Two guests on the futon
These are padded glamping sleeping surfaces rather than conventional hotel mattresses. Guests who prefer additional cushioning may wish to bring a sleeping pad or inflatable mattress.
Bedding, pillows, and towels are not provided. Guests must bring:
• Sheets • Blankets or sleeping bags • Pillows • Bath and hand towels
Bring bedding appropriate for the forecast. Winter-rated sleeping bags are strongly recommended during cold weather, while lighter bedding is generally suitable during warmer months.
Power, Starlink Wi-Fi, heat, and air conditioning
Although the setting feels remote, the yurt has electricity and Starlink internet suitable for streaming, communication, and many remote-work needs.
The mini-split provides both heating and air conditioning. A wood stove is also available for supplemental heat and mountain ambiance.
Firewood is not provided for either the wood stove or outdoor firepit. Guests may bring their own or purchase bundles locally in Crouch or Garden Valley.
Internet service may temporarily slow or disconnect during severe weather because it is satellite based.
Cooking and dining
The yurt includes a well-equipped glamping cooking area with:
• Two-burner propane stove • Cast-iron griddle • Propane grill on the private deck • Mini refrigerator • Drip coffee maker • Keurig coffee maker • Hot-water kettle • Pots and pans • Dishes and silverware • Cooking utensils • Barbecue utensils • Spices • Salt and pepper • Cooking oil • Dining table
There is no conventional oven or microwave.
Water, sink, and private porta-potty
There is no running water, shower, or indoor bathroom.
Fresh water is provided in 5-gallon containers for drinking, cooking, and washing dishes. Please use it thoughtfully because all water must be transported to the yurt.
The yurt has an indoor sink for washing dishes, but the sink is not connected to plumbing.
A clean private porta-potty is located approximately 100 ft from the yurt and is professionally serviced every week.
Parking, unloading, and walking access
There is no parking directly beside the yurt.
Guests may drive near the porta-potty to unload luggage and supplies. From there, the yurt is a short walk away.
After unloading, guests park in one of two designated parking areas. Both require a short uphill walk to the yurt.
The walking path is natural mountain terrain and may be:
Guests should wear appropriate shoes and consider packing lightly or using bags that are easy to carry.
Mountain road and directions
The final approach is a narrow rock and dirt mountain road with steep sections.
Apple Maps and Google Maps may direct travelers along the wrong route. Confirmed guests receive:
• Detailed written directions • Exact GPS coordinates • A map link • Parking instructions • Unloading guidance • Seasonal access information
Please review the directions before beginning the final approach.
In winter, AWD or 4WD with proper winter tires or chains is required. Low-clearance or unusually large vehicles may be more difficult to maneuver.
Lighting
The yurt has interior electric lighting but no exterior lighting.
Guests should:
• Bring headlamps or flashlights • Plan to arrive before dark when possible • Use caution on the path after sunset
Dog-friendly mountain stay
Up to two well-behaved dogs are allowed when included in the reservation.
Dogs must:
• Remain leashed whenever outside • Never be left unattended inside the yurt • Leave with you whenever you leave the property • Remain near the general yurt area • Have all waste picked up

The yurt and its surroundings was absolutely beautiful! It came equipped with lots of extras – definitely a fun “glamping” experience! We would stay there again in a heartbeat!
We really enjoyed getting away to this little slice of heaven! We had everything we needed to be comfortable including internet access so we could watch the bowl game.
We had a great time, exactly like the pictures. I look forward to staying here again.
I wish I booked 2 or 3 nights. We went to the Starlight Theater and walked to our yurt with headlamps. The kids thought this was a wonderful adventure.

I loved the yurt! Very cozy and clean. And very well done up..
This place was better than advertised a little slice of heaven sitting on the deck eating breakfast watching the hummingbirds eat the and elk on the hillside! We will be back for sure!
Fantastic directions to the yurt. Clean, roomy, and cute. Enough room to set up play pen for my 2 year old to sleep in wothout feeling crowded. Located exactly as described, did not see another soul while we were there.
I have never stayed in a yurt before and was really shocked at how amazing this place was. The Yurt had many amenities such as AC, Kurig, Stove and a refrigerator. The beds were super comfy and the entire yurt was lovely and clean. The walk from the parking space to the yurt was minimal and the porta potty was very clean, possibly the cleanest that i have ever seen. The area had so many beautiful hikes near by. I hope to visit again!!
Great stay! Beautiful inside the yurt and very cozy. They had the a.c. running before we arrived which was great as the temp that day was 90 degrees. The yurt stayed nice and cool. We only stayed 1 night but would have loved to stay longer. The walk up to the yurt from parking area #1 is steep but not too long. My kids and I were able to walk it in sandals and crocs. Communication with hosts was great and they even went beyond when helping to coordinate meeting up after my stay to provide me with a forgotten item.
This was a last minute decision to go here since my family was planning on camping in a tent. It was too hot for camp tenting. This place was great! The A/C was a huge bonus for the summer temps and made our stay very enjoyable. Plus with all the amenities included made it even better. Not having running water was fine for us since we normally do 'bird baths' at tent camping sites. Bathroom is a little distance away from the Yurt, but doable for our family standards. The star and satellite gazing at night is great also. We would definitely stay here again. One night went by quick.
The yurt was amazing, the amenities they had were exactly what you'd hope for the room was warm and cozy. I did hurt myself walking firewood back to the pit because I have bad knees and hips and wasn't aware the yurt was positioned between two steep hills lol. I think going forward the only thing the owners could improve on is including in the description the very steep hills around it because some people would opt for something else. Beautiful views and overall such a nice place to get away from everything, thank you for opening your doors to us
Due to heavy snowing and avalanches in the area, we were unable to reach the yurt, but I still give a good rating because the owners refunded all the money and were understanding of the situation. Hope to try again under better conditions. The road in is steep and narrow!
Through no fault of the owners, our reservation was double booked. When we spoke with them about the situation, they were responsive and gracious. They did everything they could to make things right for us. Despite our stay not going as planned, I would certainly book this yurt again, or any other rentals from these owners. We appreciate their hospitality!

Fun experience
We needed a place to stay so I could attend the Starlight theater. Perfect location. Loved the seclusion. Porta-potty wasn't too far. You have to clean up after yourself and supplies were running low. Paper towels and mop pads. I didn't get responses from emails to the owner.

We have roots in Oregon and Idaho and spend as much time outdoors as possible. We enjoy camping, UTV rides, gardening, wildlife, and quiet evenings in the mountains. Hosting gives us the opportunity to share our favorite part of Idaho, help guests discover local adventures, and provide a peaceful place to disconnect without giving up useful modern comforts.
Why they chose this property
We chose Garden Valley because it offers quiet mountain living while remaining close to Crouch, Banks, the South Fork Payette River, hot springs, trails, rafting, fishing, and other outdoor recreation. Our property is surrounded by mature ponderosa pines, wildlife, dark skies, filtered mountain views, and very few neighboring homes. The sunrises, sunsets, and peaceful forest setting continue to make this our favorite place.
What makes this property unique
The yurt sits in a visually secluded setting on nearly 45 wooded acres rather than in a neighborhood, campground, or resort. Guests experience real mountain privacy along with electricity, fast Starlink Wi-Fi, mini-split heat and air conditioning, a wood stove, propane cooking, a large private deck, a firepit, four disc golf holes, and cornhole. It is an authentic wilderness stay with practical modern comforts.
