The Area
Located just minutes from Sleepy Creek Wildlife Management Area, you have access to miles of trails and a large lake surrounded by forest. Berkeley Springs is a short drive away, known for its arts community, shops, restaurants, and local brewery and winery. Within The Woods Resort, guests can enjoy walking trails and access the golf course for a fee, while other resort amenities are reserved for members only.
This is a place to embrace the quiet rhythm of the mountains, where days unfold slowly and evenings invite you to linger.
Note
We often bring our three little kids and our dog to the cottage, so the space is very family- and dog-friendly. (Sorry, no cats—we’re allergic.)
The golf course charges a modest fee, and while the resort also has a fitness center and indoor/outdoor pools, those are reserved for members only.
Our cleaning team sweeps the deck, stairs, and walkways before every arrival, but thanks to the natural mountain setting, you may still notice a few leaves, pollen, or other outdoor touches—especially in certain seasons.
Wi-Fi is included, though due to the remote location it can occasionally be slower or spotty. We recommend downloading any important content in advance so you can fully relax and enjoy your stay.

We came for a long weekend to escape DC life and had a great time. House was nice, and the property manager communicated well through check-in and our stay. The house manual was well-documented and had great recommendations for restaurants we wouldn’t have found otherwise. Bedding was comfortable, hot tub was great.

Thanks again for staying with us. We’d love to welcome you back anytime. :)
We had a great time staying in this house. It has sort of a unique layout which works beautifully at creating a relaxed vibe. All the natural light lets you take advantage of the environment while staying comfy cozy inside. The primary bedroom area was gorgeous and made you feel like you were at a fancy resort! There are a bunch of trails nearby to take young kids off the path exploring. The hot tub we super clean and looking up at night you see all the stars. Kitchen was well equipped.

Thanks again for staying with us. We’d love to welcome you back anytime. :)
Highly do not recommend! Stayed 12 hours of our suppose to be 5 nights! Property not cleaned/maintained & location was not a relaxing/family friendly! Property manager aware of safety issues and with much communication did result in a refund for nights we did not stay! Basically this “Oasis” is not as it is described!
I live in DC with my wife and three young kids. I love camping/hiking, drinking (and sometimes brewing) great beer and wine, exploring new restaurants and shops, and traveling all over.
Why they chose this property
We spent years searching for the perfect getaway and wanted to be close enough to DC that we could do a day trip. We fell in love with the area – and Oak Grove in particular. We love how cute and cozy our cabin is, and all the fun outdoor activities we can enjoy year-round. :)
