Cozy lakefront cottage with dock, close to skiing

With a long history of welcoming guests to Lake Horace since the 1950s, come to Windswept Cottage and enjoy a relaxing stay in a beautiful setting all year round. Fully renovated and restored to it's former rustic charm, with attention to details that renters will appreciate. You'll love long summer days taking advantage of the lake and relaxing on the dock or enjoying a firepit after a day in the sun. Come back to enjoy winter on the snowy trails of Pat's Peak, less than a 15 minute drive away.

The space:
Enjoy single story living in this cozy, renovated cottage with an open-concept floor plan and full kitchen, decorated with attention to detail that guests will appreciate. There are two separate living areas, each with comfortable seating and televisions, so families can relax and enjoy spending time together. Enjoy the views and your morning coffee from our spacious deck while listening to the loons, or relax in the lounge chairs on the dock while your family swims or fishes in the clear waters of Horace Lake.

We have a large canoe along with 2 adult-size and 1 child-size kayaks with lifejackets included if you want to explore more of the lake's natural beauty. When you need a break, curl up with a good book in the hammock, surrounded by nature at the edge of our large grassy yard. Wind down your evening by stargazing while roasting s'mores at our large firepit, right at the water's edge.

Other things to note:
This is a renovated historic 1920s cottage, and, while fully updated, there are some quirks. Our water source is from a well, and we have a Brita pitcher in the fridge available for your hydration needs. There is no dishwasher, but there is a dish rack and we encourage paper plates to help you spend less time cleaning up. There are fans in all of the rooms, as we do not have AC.

We are located in a neighborhood of lakefront homes, and we ask that you respect our neighbors by observing quiet hours between 10pm- 7am. No parties are allowed and there is no street parking available. Guests who do not respect quiet hours will be asked to leave without refund.

Hosts were very responsive every time I contacted them. We loved our little family get away and made more great memories. Couple of coffee nuts in the family who didn't like the keurig for their coffee so they went out each morning and found a cafe or whatever to satisfy their addiction. Otherwise we are grateful for the weekend we had in the cottage, everything was perfect

House was perfect for a long weekend with friends. The lake was so pretty with such great views. The house was comfortable and set up perfectly to sit around and have a great conversations with friends. The beds were comfortable and the house was warm and comfortable. The kitchen was all we needed, but we mostly ate out so didn't do any heavy cooking. The house was clean overall, but the bathroom had some cobwebs (like a true lake house would). Highly recommend and would stay again.

Perfect little place on the water

We loved this cabin. It has a perfect layout for our family and access to the water was perfect. We were pleasantly surprised by how quiet it was especially in the mornings and evenings. Will definitely book again!

Cozy Cottage

Cottage was cozy and comfortable for winter ski trip. Proximity to Pats Peak was perfect! Chinese food down the street was great after a day of skiing. Hosts were responsive and accommodating. 1000% will book again!

Lovely Fall Lake Getaway

House was very inviting, clean, comfortable and well appointed. Loved the dock and fire pit. Very quiet neighborhood and close to all kinds of hikes and leaf peeping. Owner easy to communicate with. Would highly recommend!

Nice Long Weekend

This cute little house on the lake is just what we needed for our little get-a-way. Our daughter graduated from SNHU so we booked this rental and we are so happy that we did!

Great Getaway!!

Perfect stay!! The Windswept Cottage was so comfortable, cozy and convenient for our family ski weekend. It had everything we needed and more, comfy beds and couches, beautiful lakefront view, cozy pellet stove, creative decorative touches & all the little extra amenities i.e. soaps, extra blankets, storage spaces that make for a most enjoyable stay. Many thanks to the fabulous hosts Alec and Rebecca who are very helpful and easy to communicate with. We will be back :)

Quaint Rustic Awesomeness

The stay at Cozy Lakefront was exactly as advertised, and wonderful! Easy to find but secluded and quiet, close to skiing, and so comfortable for our family with plenty of room to spare. Check-in was so easy, and when we had a question about finding somewhere fun to eat locally our host was extra helpful in finding us just what we needed for a great brunch! The dock and the fire pit were such great nooks to spend family time, unwind, and rest by the beautiful waterfront. We will definitely stay again, and cannot wait to come back in summertime when the lake life will be amazing! Thank you for the fantastic stay!

Great stay

Great cottage, clean and comfortable with everything you need provided. The outside space is perfect and where we spent all our time: lake is very clean and perfect temp - great for swimming/lounging around in, provided kayaks and canoe were extremely convenient and fun (lake is ideal size for teens - plenty of room for them to go off and explore, but no so big you have to worry where theyve gone or if theyll make it back!), fishing off the spacious dock, BBQ on back deck, firepit etc, all literally steps out the back door. Only thing Id do differently is bring a box fan or two to put in the bdrm windows - was a really hot/humid weekend and while the provided fans were helpful, youd get it much cooler at night in bedrooms with that type of setup. But zero complaints - had an awesome time at a fair price, we're already planning how we can come back next summer!

I loved the cottage! Check in was a breeze. Communication with Alec super prompt, very helpful.The decor was very nice refreshed cottage vibe, a little old, a little new! Beds were comfy, fresh! All the essentials needed were in the kitchen for cooking nice, not necessarily elaborate meals. Could have if we wanted tho. Used the grill often. Always good when there's gas available and its clean, well functioning. They few basic staples in the pantry was appreciated. But just a few ( good thing in my view) The fridge was clean and perfectly empty. Not full of every other previous tenents condiments and leftover freezer items! Some people like that. I am not a fan! Plenty of pantry space too so we could put our food away and not live out of boxes.Same for bedrooms, ample space in closets and drawers. Extra blankets available if needed. Fans in room kept the air moving.Yard and waterfront, docks, perfect to enjoy the lake, swimming. Water clean, sandy bottom. We made use of the kayaks, enjoyed the firepit several times. Thank you for dry provided wood! The cottage was as listed, comfy, nice porch! Me, my husband and sister very much enjoyed our stay, used all the amenities! Enjoyed the lake! Would definitely recommend and will probably be comimg back w a larger group of family! It was that nice! Its been a long time since we've found a place we really would like to return to. Thanks for sharing this cozy, comfy, clean waterfront gem w us!Carol

A great little cabin on the lake.

Its a getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. Cabin come ready for a weekend of fun and everlasting memories. Rather you want to sit inside, play board game, sit outside around the firepit, swing in the hammock, canoe on the lake, go fishing, this cabin on the lake is your best bet. Friendly and professional host. Dont miss out on this exciting opportunity.
