Casina Pellegrino - Tuscan Villa.

A charming three tier house nestled in the sun kissed hills of Montepulciano, Italy. Enjoy gorgeous views in a perfect location that is less than a few minutes walking distance from the main Squares and the downtown areas. The house sits right outside the Medieval City Walls which means you get unobstructed, picture perfect views of the region with those Olive groves and vineyards right from your balcony and terraces.

Imagine waking up to breathtaking views of the Tuscan hill country from your private balcony or window. Open the French doors leading to the large terrace where you can enjoy breakfast lunch and dinner at your own pace. Appreciate the local wine, olive oil, bread and cheese so close in town. Lounge under the Tuscan sun, on a comfortable chaise with a glass of wine in your hand overlooking the 3 nearby lakes shining in the distance. Walk over to the medieval town center and visit the 16th century monuments, local specialty shops, sit in the main square to drink an Italian Espresso and listen to a free classical music concert. On your way back home, indulge in a homemade Gelato.

The house is big enough to accommodate and sleep up to 10 people comfortably. It is fully renovated with modern amenities, includes 2 separate full bathrooms, including a bathtub with view over the hills. In a town where parking is scarce and comes at a premium, you will be able to park 2 cars in dedicated spots in front of the house. The kitchen is fully equipped and allows you to cook fresh meals using local ingredients from the farmers market. Or if you want, visit one of the many restaurants nearby and sample some delicious 'Pici' a Tuscan specialty.

Montepulciano, located right in the middle of the Tuscan Region, is an important medieval and Renaissance hill town in the province of Siena. With its elevation of 2000 feet and surrounded by Olive groves and Vineyards, it provides an amazing combination of views, world renowned wines, culinary experiences and rich history. The town is located 45 minutes away from Siena, an hour and a half from Florence and two hours away from Rome.

**Seasoned travelers tip:

Many tourists come to Italy each year but only a few Insiders understand Montepulciano is the perfect location because it is central and so close to many big cities and popular places in and even outside of Tuscany! It is quaint enough however, to give a true and very authentic experience of what Italy stands for: Food, Wine, Beauty, History, Basking Sun and some definitely fun and very welcoming people!

To truly experience and enjoy this country it is best to Rent a Car and use Montepulciano as a base from which to organize day trips to the most popular cities: Florence, Rome, Siena, etc. You will not only wake up to unparalleled views from the spacious house an get a lot more for your money but you will also avoid the hustle and bustle of the big metro areas. So, Instead come and enjoy the dolce vita (sweet life) in a peaceful and traditional italian town that has served as background to many popular movies (Under the Tuscan Sun, The Twilight saga, Letters to Juliet, English Patient and more.) From the you can walk to many historical markers and enjoy the day at your own pace or simply take the car and do a scenic drive on to the next cute town of Pienza, visit a castle in Montichiello or go vineyard hopping for example. There are so many options you can choose from, that is why Montepulciano and Casina Pellegrino, offer you the best of Italy no doubt.

We chose Montepulciano as our second home in the Winter/Spring because we love the country, traveling, enjoy food and wine and of course: sightseeing. When we travel, we try to immerse ourselves in the local culture. We have successfully done that in this lovely town and we are ever so lucky to discover more and more amazing wonderful places in each of our journeys that we gladly share with our guests in our insider's guide.

Erika Pellegrino purchased this house in 2010

Montepulciano stay @ Casina Pellegrino - superb location!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed at this property in mid-June '17 as part of our 10 day tour of Italy. We started our journey in Rome, then traveled to Montepulciano, and finished in the Amalfi Coast. The villa was clean, extremely spacious, and offered amazing views of the countryside. The outside terrace smelled of honeysuckle and was super peaceful. The villa came equipped with a washing machine, dishwasher, refrigerator and full kitchen. The property was conveniently located within minutes walking distance of town square Montepulciano and all the shops, restaurants, etc. We had a rental car and did a few day trip excursions out to Montalcino, Perugia, Pienza, and Castiglione del Lago for wines, chocolates, cured meats, and cheeses. It served as a great "home base" while we explored the neighboring towns and cities. The only recommendation we have for the landlords is to provide some oscillating fans in the bedrooms for guests. The cool breeze is very nice in the evenings but fans would help a great deal. We would highly recommend this property to our friends and family.

Owner's Response: Grazie tanto!!!! We loved reading your review and having you as our guests this summer. It is so nice of you to spend the time to detail and describe to everyone what you most enjoyed about our house and the area! We feel truly blessed to have come across the Casina in Montepulciano many years back and after a lot of work (well that never ceases) we think it is such a gem and are happy to share it with our guests. Thank you also for the feedback about the fans. Truth is we have some and I'm so very sorry that they were not there in the rooms when you arrived I made sure our cleaning lady left them out for all of our guests. She is Italian and thinks that opening the windows to create a draft is a better option but I made sure to get those fans as soon as we started renting out the house so everyone is more comfortable. We sure hope to have you back one day and thank you once again for choosing to stay with us.

Wonderful views and easy walk to town

  • 5 of 5

Great views of the Tuscan countryside, and an easy 5 minute walk into town. There is even a small convenience store right at the top of the steps when you get in town. We were able to park our van in front of the garage, which was super convenient. We were able to use some of the herbs from the back yard for our cooking class as well! Great home base for exploring all the neat towns and wineries in the area. Pienza was super close and a neat town to visit.

Fantastic place to stay in our favorite Tuscan hill town.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for four nights in mid-September, 2017, and couldn’t have asked for a more convenient location. It was a five-minute walk into the heart of old town Montepulciano. While this house is situated between two busy streets, and did have some street noise when we were sitting outside, the view of the Tuscany hillside and the short walk into town more than makes up for it. Our biggest problem was which of the three outside patios we wanted to sit on.

Though the house is not decorated in Tuscan style, it is clean, roomy, and everything we needed as far as appliances, kitchenware, etc, was readily available and in good working order. The owner, Erika, sent copious notes ahead of time as to suggestions of where to go winetasting and what to see, and she was easy to reach with any questions. We would definitely stay there again.

Great apt and views, some street noise

  • 4 of 5

My wife and I had a fabulous time staying 3 days in the apt. Erika the owner, was outstanding with her support. The views from the balcony are to die for. The traffic in the street below takes away a bit from otherwise a perfect experience.

Will return to this apt if in town.

Couldn't have asked for more!

  • 5 of 5

I can't say enough good things about this place, it was perfect for us! We were a group of 6 and there was plenty of room for everyone. The beds were comfortable, and the kitchen was stocked with everything that we needed to cook dinner in one night. It was a short walk into the adorable town of Montepulciano, which we loved. I think our favorite feature though, was the back patio overlooking the Tuscan countryside. Beautiful. I wish we would have stayed here longer. Erika was such an awesome host , giving us tons of helpful info before we arrived, and she replied quickly to our questions while we were there. Would stay again in a heart beat, hope to return one day! Thank you for everything, Erika! :)

Such a Great Location!

  • 5 of 5

First of all, I want to say that Erika is such a great host! She provided tons of information about the villa as well as places to visit in Tuscany. Of all the places we stayed during our trip, nobody came close to her making us feel so "in the know"! The villa is awesome! It is only a short walk to some steps that lead into what I call "Old Town", the walled part of Montepulciano. We cooked many of our dinners at the villa and the kitchen is more than ample for doing so. The absolute best part of the place is the multi-level balcony that overlooks the Tuscan countryside. Every morning, we took our coffee onto the porch and marveled at the beauty of the area. It was so NICE! The only thing people should be prepared for is the noise from the traffic from the street below. However, we felt that the location of the villa and its amenities far outweighed this minor detraction. If we stayed farther out in the country, we would not have been able to walk into Old Town every day. Anyway, this villa was perfect for our two adult couples. As we left, we all wished we could stay longer in Montepulciano. Thanks for hosting us, Erika! Your place is great! Love, Kevin

Owner's Response: Wow!! this is so wonderful and I truly appreciate your lovely comments about the house and me! I really can't stop blushing and it just makes me so happy to know that you had a great time there. I mean, isn't that the point after, all? I am so happy I was able to provide that and the rest well... it's the location, the views, the Vino, the food the people and having it all at walking distance so you could go anywhere you wish to for variety and practicality purposes. We hope you keep in touch and come back one day to enjoy those terraces again:) Arrivederci, Erika:)
