About Dolores Houghton

I have been in the vacation rental business for over 20 years. I grew up in Oakville, Ontario. I have been a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) now a Certified Professional Account (CPA) for over 35 years. I moved to Calgary, Alberta in 1992 to manage my own manufacturing business. I sold the business in 2011 and moved to the Sunshine Coast just outside of Vancouver BC in 2011. This is where I live now in a town called Gibsons, BC

Dolores Houghton purchased this chalet in 2000

Why Dolores Houghton chose British Columbia Rockies

I loved this property for its beauty. Looking at the mountains and watching the trees sway in the wind is just so relaxing to me. When I lived in Calgary I would visit Panorama every spare minute I had. It was a 2 and one-half hour car ride from Calgary. I like having a property at a resort. The skiing, golf, restaurants, hiking, horseback riding, white water rafting, mini golf and so much more provided many different experiences for my stay in Panorama.

What makes this chalet unique

The mountain views from the living room and the trees swaying in the wind is such a relaxing and peaceful experience. The hot tub with the mountains surrounding you gives me lots of pleasure and relaxation. The view from the front deck allows me to people watch while the views from the back deck provides a view of nature, deer, birds, etc. and all the trees.

Very Enjoyable!

  • 5 of 5

Short 10 minute walk to chair lift or stores, excellent view of the mountains, no distractions and minimal traffic on a quiet street.

We enjoyed ourselves tremendously at this very well located Chalet on a fabulous ski hill.

8 people fit in the Chalet very comfortably and having the bedrooms on a separate floor was very convenient.

Beds were very comfortable and the hot tub just outside the door was a great bonus and was a great wind down from a days skiing.

The whole family had a great vacation and enjoyed the ski hill and this Chalet greatly, we definitely recommend this location and will be returning ourselves next year.

Panorama Perfection

  • 5 of 5

Our rental accomodations were not only a thousand times better than a hotel but actually less expensive. Our family of five actually had a "home away from home". It was just like being at home but in an ideallic mountain setting. We still did all the vacation things but at the end of the day we went "home". It was so much more relaxing than a crowded hotel room. When travelling this is the only way to go. Our vacation rental experience was incredible. We will be going back next year!

Great cabin in the mountains

  • 4 of 5

It is a very nice cabin with room for 8 adults comfortably. We stayed there in summer but it would be even better during the ski season as it is walking distance to the ski hill and has a great hot tub. The resort has a very nice swimming pool with slides and hot tubs and a warm pool for the kids.

Vancouver, Or

House was just the right size for our family. We enjoyed being close to all Panorama amenities

  • 2 of 5

Although there were plenty of bedding and towels having only 2 rolls of toilet paper is not good. The bottom floor is rented full time to local workers and unfortunately they did not arrive home till after midnight each night and generally waking all of us because our bedroom windows were just above where they sat out and cooked. We had to close our windows each night due to the noise.

Owner's Response: I have spoken with my cleaners and they have said there was lots of toilet paper in the cupboard under the sinks. If I had known the group was having a problem , the local contact or I could have helped them find more toilet paper. We do not limit toilet paper or anything else. The letter I send to each client, as well as the vrbo site, clearly states there are full time renters in the basement. I have never had a complaint about the full time renters. Both men work two jobs and are gone 90 percent of the time.

Treetops house rental in Panorama

  • 3 of 5

Very nice 4 bedroom house with an odd layout. The kitchen is not very equipped and the house could have been cleaner. There was dirt on the carpet on the bedroom level. Overall, a good spot to stay if you have a dog or if you need the space.

Owner's Response: I have since spoken to Kristy and she indicated that the odd layout had to do with deck seating and large groups. Kristy was using my chalet as the home base for her Panorama wedding. My front deck is able to seat 8 people comfortably which is the maximum capacity of the chalet. There is also seating for 8 by the hot tub but the chalet is never meant to have more than 8 guests onsite. As for the kitchen missing required equipment it was indicated there wasn't a blender, grater or roasting pan or oven mitts.....these were all stocked at the chalet on the May long weekend and will be addressed when we go next week. I have spoken to my cleaning team and they indicated it was all cleaned per their standards and in the response from Kristy the only cleaning issue was what she indicated there were dirty dishes in the cupboard. I will review this with my team and ensure they add checking dishes in the cupboard for cleanliness. I have rented for 20+ years and usually receive 4-5 star ratings from guests and will address Kristy's concerns as soon as I am able.
