Fun base camp for exploring the city
We were looking for something unique for our visit to Boston. The Blue Pearl hit the mark. We had 3 adults & a teenager - had plenty of room.
The location was central, pretty easy to get to/ from. There is info on things to see in the cabinet under the tv - we didn't notice then until we were leaving. The guest book also provides ideas of things to do, places to go.
The bedroom was really comfortable & the teenage boy loved the loft, but did bump his head a couple of times (probably knocked some sense into him - lol. )
There were dishes, a tiny kitchen, full fridge, 2 burner stove top, microwave & toaster oven.
It is close to the airport, but we didn't hear much airport noise. You do hear the tires of the cars going over the draw bridge - kind of a hummmm & you do hear horns in the night.
It is a boat, so marine toilet & tiny shower. The window coverings are thin - if you are sensitive to light, you should bring eye masks to block the light.
I'd recommend The Pearl for a unique get away.
Great location! Easily reached all of our activities.
Houseboat was clean, well stocked and easily reached by public transportation. Owner was easy to reach when needed. We loved it!
Clean, just as pictured, some noise from Logan airport, but it just became white noise
So enjoyed it!
WOW! FANTASTIC...this is the one to rent in Boston!!!
There is nothing beter than walking into a rental and it SMELLS clean! This was the cleanest house I ever rented. It was nicely decorated and linens/blankets were new and clean. It felt like a "little house" but large enough for a family of 6! The kids were excited so see the bridge open & close and feed the ducks on the dock. This was an excellent change of pace instead of renting a typical condo when going to the city and but it all. Deb left only items that were necessary for our stay, lightbulbs, batteries, foil, garbage gags, and dramamine, etc! The house boat was rocky but it was to be expected when staying on a boat. I cannot say enough about how wonderful this rental was and I would 100% rent this house boat again!!
We recently stayed at the Blue Pearl in Boston. We absolutely loved it! Got to see the frieghtors coming in and out; the bridge going out, fed the local ducks. Accomodations were great, beds were comfortable. Deb, the owner was very helpful and gave us a lot of information on things to do, restaurants to go to and how to get around. Definitely would recommend!
OK IF YOU LIKE CAMPING
I KNOW THAT THE WEATHER WAS COLD, HOWEVER I NEVER THOUGHT THAT ON VACATION I WOULD HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT LOSING POWER AND POWER RESETING ON DOCK. REMOVING ICE FROM LOWER DECK, VERY UNSAFE. REMOVING SNOW FROM NARROW WALK DECK UNSAFE FOR FAMILY. , HOUSEBOAT WAS DISORGANIZED, ie: ALL ITEMS IN CABNITES , ITEMS IN CLOSET. NO ITEMS SHOULD BE LEFT OUT IN LOFT AREA. USING ADDITIONAL HEATERS TRIPS BREAKERS. HADE TO REMOVE TRASH, TO DOCK AERA, THAT DUE TO HOLDAY, WERE FULL. HAD TO LEAVE WATER DRIPPING SO WOULD NOT FREEZE. FOR THE AMOUNT OF RENTAL COST WOULD NOT RECOMMAND DURING WINTER. IF ALL ITEMS WERE PLACED IN THE DESCRIPTION ON LINE I WOULD HAVE MADE DIFFERENT ARRRANGEMENTS
I am sorry this guest felt the need to write a review in all caps.
Staying on a houseboat in the winter can be more for the adventurous. Our houseboat is fully heated with electric baseboards and on most days does not need the extra portable heaters. Winter is my favorite time to be there. That being said no one expected the extreme cold this winter has brought.
One thing I would like to point out that I always encourage each and every one of my guests to contact me with any issues that come up during their stay. Had I known the docks were not shoveled or that he wanted items taken out of cabinets or closets I could have taken care of that for him. We received one call from him the night before he was to depart ( he stayed 5 nights) because he lost electricity and we talked him through how to reset the breaker.
