Private, Beautiful Lake Front Home in Prime Location

Welcome to our beloved home, Le Chaumiere Sur Lac which simply translates to "The Lake House."

We are so excited to share our slice of heaven with you! We built this house and have enjoyed it to the fullest for years; but it's time to let others in on the magic as well!

Our house is located on County Road 440 which is a staple road in Munising with a prime location for snowmobiling, ATVing, hiking, sight-seeing, private lake front property, and so much more. The house sits on its very own private and secluded piece of land, with easy access right off the road. We are only 1 of 3 other properties on this entire inland lake so it truly feels like your very own. Our large spacious yard hosts the ability for relaxing next to a campfire at night, kayaking the lake to watch the sunrise, plenty of room for yard games, a delicious back-yard barbeque, and more! We have two large decks on both levels of the home that beg to be enjoyed with morning coffee, or a clear UP night to sit and star gaze.

Inside of our newly built home we offer a fully stocked kitchen, bedrooms with the most beautiful lake view complete with all bedding, two full bathrooms with towels provided and a beautiful, spacious open concept layout perfect for your whole family to enjoy or even just a couple's getaway. This truly is such a pristine vacation destination- guaranteed to provide the exact type of retreat you need.

As mentioned, our location is truly spectacular and very sought after. You have a great opportunity to take day trips exploring all the Upper Peninsula has to offer on convenient roads, a general store for any forgotten items- (and ice cream!), only a few miles up the road, you can leave right from the front door on your ATV or snowmobile and access major trail systems, or you can find enough to do right on site and have a spectacular "stay-cation" right at the house.

We are so honored to host and are confident you will quickly fall in love with our own little paradise. Family memories are a sure thing here at Le Chaumiere Sur Lac.

Our family of four stayed at this charming house for four nights in the second half of July. The house is located directly on a small, beautiful lake and has everything you need for a relaxing, secluded getaway. We enjoyed swimming and fishing in the lake.The property is about 35 minutes from Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, making it a convenient location for exploring the area. The host was very friendly, responsive, and easy to communicate with. We had a wonderful time!

My family of 4 stayed in August 2026 for an extended weekend visit. The property was located on a quiet small lake in the national forest & felt like the secluded peaceful spot we were looking for. The house was clean & well stocked with all of the necessities. We enjoyed the chairs by the lake and the kayaks. The pull outs in the living room were tight, but worked fine for teenagers. I expected it to be more buggy but it wasn’t at all. Firepit was perfect for the cool evenings. Definitely recommend downloading your maps as cell service is non existent. Overall a great experience and we would definitely come again.

The house was super clean and the property was beautiful-be sure to wake up for a sunrise! It's for sure out in the middle of nowhere so be prepared for that- there is a grocery about 30 minutes away. We loved the kayaks!! Thankfully we packed shampoo and body wash because that was not provided, so plan accordingly. The host was super kind and very responsive. We would for sure come back!

Lake had a lot of garbage/debris in it that looked dangerous to try to get in. We wanted to use the kayaks but worried we’d get hurt. Also it looked as though there was a sandy beach area at one point but it was overgrown and not usable.

We had a great stay! The house was comfortable, well stocked, and had everything we needed. The lake is beautiful, peaceful, and felt very private. Taking the kayaks out was one of our favorite parts of the trip, and our kids loved the fun clock in the house.A couple of things to know before you go: we have AT&T, and cell service in the area was very spotty. Downloading a map was great advice, but it also made it harder to communicate with the host when we were away from the house.Definitely stop at Midway General Store, great people and a fun place. It was one of the highlights of our trip! Also, the mosquitoes are no joke, so plan accordingly.Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would absolutely recommend it if you're looking for a quiet, relaxing lake getaway.

We truly enjoyed our time at the cabin. It’s situated in Hiawatha National Forest, by the lake,- great place to relax and recharge. Cabin was just as described: beautifully decorated, clean, well equipped with everything needed for a longer stay. It even had two kayaks available.Host was easily reached and very accommodating. Highly recommended!

We loved our stay! Everything was so clean and comfortable. Exactly as listed and more beautiful in person. If you are not used to well water, plan to bring your own. Kitchen was very well stocked and had spices and extra things I needed to make dinners. We would definitely stay here again!

A relaxing stay

We enjoyed our stay at the house. We had plenty of space to spread out. We enjoyed kayaking on the lake. The mattress topper in the main bedroom is a bit too soft. Also, the nearest grocery store is 30 min away so plan accordingly.

This property was nothing short of awesome! It’s very secluded and private. The owners were willing to work with us on early check in and were very responsive. It is about 45 mins to any kind of bigger town but was overall worth it!

Weekend Getaway

Such a nice lake cabin. Beautiful views, great outdoor space, and secluded. You may not have phone reception so make sure you get/have WiFi access and paper maps for backup as you may not have GPS.

Where do I even start! The house is perfect, the location is peaceful and close to everything we love in the UP. My son fished in the lake and caught his first pike and now has a harrowing story to tell his friends, it really was a battle! We kayaked and enjoyed the stillness only the UP has to offer. Several trips to the Midway store gave us awesome opportunities for ice cream and meeting so many wonderful people! We loved every minute here, the house is equipped with everything we need for great meals. Our dog even had an amazing time lounging on the patio. Can’t wait to come back for another stay!
