Successful Family Reunion

  • 4 of 5

The home was very comfortable and enjoyable by all my siblings. We very much enjoyed the fire pit using it on three of our nights there. All my siblings and their partners thought our time together was a big success.

Thanks

Great Location!

  • 3 of 5

We enjoyed the location as it was convenient to our hiking trails. The space in the house was more than adequate for 8 women...we each had our own bed. The kitchen was supplied with ample dinnerware, etc., and there were plenty of towels. However, there are no towel bars in the bathrooms despite ample room to have some installed.

Cleanliness was an issue..... while not horrible, it could be better. We needed to wash many of the items in the kitchen that were visibly not clean. The bathrooms could use some TLC. The shower curtain in the basement was several inches too long.... needless to say it was moldy.

There is no AC. A couple of more ceiling fans or box fans, as well as a dehumidifier, could help in the warmer months. The lower level is musty smelling.

All in all, in served our purpose, but didn't measure up to other VRBO properties we have rented.

Hard to find, but worth it when you get there! Great location, private yard, clean, roomy!

  • 5 of 5

Our family (3 adults, 3 young adults, teenager and 10 year old) had an enjoyable 4 night stay. The home was clean, roomy, and only a short distance to many of the attractions (falls, Lake Sup, restaurants, grocery, hiking, pictures rocks, Grand Island). It was so good to be able to spread out while relaxing (some in basement rec room, others up stairs) and also to have 4 bedrooms with various sizes beds. We cooked on the grill one evening, played outdoor games in the big private yard, enjoyed indoor games in the rec room and made s'mores in the fireplace, since it was raining and couldn't have a fire outdoors. The kitchen had everything we needed, and the extra supplies were nice to have there. The only real problem was that we came in 3 separate cars and all of us had trouble finding the place in the dark. Our GPSs took us to the wrong place and when we did get on the right road, we had a hard time seeing the address. John and Lisa left good directions, but it still was a bit stressful. Once we all got there, it was great and SO much better than being in a hotel or camping!

Great Property - Great Location - Room for us all!

  • 5 of 5

We had 9 people from 24 to 67 years of age! The area was full of adventure from a 12 mile hike at Chapel - Mosquito area, Kayaking, Boat Tours, Mountain Biking at Valley Spur (great single track), Light House Hikes and Tour with old wrecks along the shore, Giant Ships in Marquette, Waterfalls, Museums, Games in the evening, Campfires, Star Gazing and a few beers. It was a GREAT! The time went fast and everyone found something to do. We cooked breakfast and evening meals in the Lodge except for a fish fry at the Moose Lodge which was great.

The Lodge was set up great to enjoy the evenings whether playing Jenga or Euchre or simply chatting at the campfire. Plenty of room and comfort, also a washer and dryer for wet cloths from kayaking and swimming in Lake Superior. I asked everyone what they liked best about the area and the answer was that we had a great place to stay to meet up in the evenings for family fun time. This was my 5th trip to the area, but the first for my extended family who has never been there. If we were all stuck in hotel rooms, the experience wouldn't have been the same.

Some of our favorites times include the Chapel - Mosquito Area Hike, A two hour Kayak Tour to the Miners Caves, Swimming at 12 Mile Beach, Johnny Dogs for lunch, and Muldoon's Pasties. No enough time, but packed a lot in! The Wolf Spring Lodge was an ideal base camp for us all. It was clean, cozy, a wonderful secluded location. I would recommend this to families or lager groups.

Thank You John and Lisa!

An enjoyable , comfortable stay

  • 4 of 5

We liked the cleanliness and roominess of the house. We were generally very comfortable . The house was a base for our many outings to Munising (Pictured Rocks cruise), to Pesque Isle north of Marquette, and to swim in the mouths of two rivers flowing into Lake Superior. The weather got hot, but the nearby beaches made up for it. Lisa and John were very responsive to our needs. Because we had power outage twice, they gave us a partial refund.

We did have a hard time finding the property when we arrived in the late afternoon, so more detailed instructions would help.

We were especially excited about the resident sandhill crane family of 3 and watching them roam the property!

Wonderful place to stay!!!

  • 4 of 5

Location, location, location! The rental is just 2.5 miles out of town on private, beautiful land. A long driveway leads you up to the house, so there is plenty of parking. The kitchen was nice and big as well as the whole house with plenty of room. I thought the kitchen table was going to be too small for all of us to sit, but we could sit 6 around comfortably and add even more if needed. Lots of activities to do in the area or even around their property. I could have stayed longer as we did not get in as many bike rides or hikes or built a fire in the fire ring outside (we stayed a whole week). Lisa and John were great to work with (I had asked Lisa about a crockpot and even though one was currently not at the rental, she had one for us when we arrived, as promised. John also showed up immediately after we called about another minor problem.) So why not 5 stars? The refrigerator was very small for the size of the house and was difficult stacking food items and rearranging. Also, you only get 1 house key which was a small challenge when your group goes in different directions.
