This property is stunning and the caretakers are so lovely. It is the only property around here that has access to the beach and lagoon where you can be by yourself. We have cherished so many memories from this property it’s hard to count. We will always return!! You can see most animals you will see in this area of Costa Rica right from the porch! We feel so at home at this place and look forward to returning to ethereal jungle paradise.

Luxurious stay in the heart of the jungle

The second you pull into the property here in Carate, you know you have made the right choice. The garden is immaculate and the colors overwhelm you. The house is designed perfectly, you can hear and see most of the grounds of the property from every room. Giant Morpho butterflies will flutter by in the morning and even Tapirs will mosey on by - you might see one if you wake early enough. This far down the road from town, every luxury is 10fold, and this house is incredibly luxurious in such a rugged location. You don’t have to go anywhere, the animals come to you here! We’ve seen anteaters and turtles and monkeys and macaws and snakes and frogs and hundreds of different kinds of birds- it’s just the best place! It works well for a family or for a few couples traveling together. We will always return here.

One of the most beautiful places in the world

This house is so special, we have stayed here many times. From every room in the house you can see the gorgeous garden with the ocean behind it with tropical birds and butterflies floating through the scene. It is truly an ethereal place, days roll by as slowly and as quickly as the surf on the shore- which lulls you to sleep at night. The shower is my favorite shower in the world- hot water during the day when the sun is shining is a huge luxury this far down the road- and hummingbirds fly within a few feet of you as you bathe. Its amazing. Perfect for a family or a few couples. Make sure to bring groceries as cooking in the perfectly situated kitchen will be a breeze. There are a couple of (very) minor wear & tear repairs that are necessary- a couple of screen patches and a few new planks of wood in the deck outside need replacing- but otherwise this house is as perfect as ever. There is no better place to experience Carate, or even Costa Rica as a whole. Beto and Yolanda, the caretakers, are some of the most lovely people I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. They are kind, generous, and wise. I've learned so much from talking to Beto, they will take care of anything you need during your stay. Be sure to take the kayaks out on the lagoon with Beto! See all the birds and crocodiles in the lagoon! This year we even found a crocodile tooth on the beach of the lagoon! If you are adventurous but want some luxury comforts- this is your place in Carate- book it!
