From Kyoto station, take bus 50 and get off at Kamishichiken bus stop. Facing the 7-11, go up the first road on the left and walk 2 minutes to the Post Office, then turn left at the next alley. Takeya is the third house down.

In this quiet neighborhood, you'll enjoy the atmosphere of old Kyoto away from the hustle and bustle of busy tourist areas.
Every 25th of the month, a flea market is held at Kitano Tenmangu Shrine, which is just 5 minutes walk away.
Ninnaji Temple and Hirano Shrine are located a little further away, both of which are famed for their late-blooming cherry trees, so you can catch the sakura even if you arrive after the peak cherry blossom season.
Bus, taxi
From the Kamishichiken bus stop, buses 10 and 203 lead to Shijo Kawaramachi, which is within walking distance of Gion and all the major departmental stores. Bus 10 (opposite direction) will also take you to Ninnaji-temple.
5 minutes walk away lies the Kitano Tenmangu bus stop. From here, you can catch the rapid, tourist orientated 101 and 102 buses, which will take you to both Kinkaku-ji and Ginkaku-ji, the famed Golden and Silver Pavilions, as well as other major tourist destinations.
10 minutes walk away is the Kitano Hakubaicho station. From here, you can catch the Randen line tram to Arashiyama, where the the UNESCO World Heritage Tenryuji-temple lies, along with the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest.
