Thanks so much, Andrea! We had a wonderful time, and the home was absolutely beautiful. We actually all voted it the best house we have stayed in, in the ten years we have been doing our family ski trip.

Nice house for a large group

  • 4 of 5

The house is spacious and comfortably accommodated our large group (4 families of 4) for a ski weekend at Butternut. We even had another family staying at a local B&B come for dinner and there was still plenty of space. There is a large table in the Billiards room in addition to the large dining room.

In general the house was clean and well kept. It would have been nice if it was better stocked with some general supplies (trash bags, dish soap, toilet paper, etc), but that just took a quick trip to the nearby grocery store.

The only issue we had was that water had leaked onto one of the beds at some point between when the house was cleaned and our arrival (due to an issue with the roof). Nothing major, but it was uncomfortable for the person that unknowingly slid into bed under wet sheets. We called the homeowner the next day to let her know and she came promptly to put in a temporary fix, provide clean linens, and offer a bottle of wine and a gift certificate for a local restaurant as an apology. I hesitated to mention this because she did what she could to make up it, but if you plan to rent and use all the beds, you might just want to confirm it’s been fixed.

Spacious, clean and well kept house

  • 5 of 5

We are families with kids going for winter and summer vacation to different places and have been through number of properties within the past General Williams estate is the best we have been to for our skiing winter vacation. It is a huge house with a lot to do when you get stuck inside - tv room, pool table room, few smaller tables for chess or a game of cards, giant dining room. We arrived on Christmas, yes on the 25th in the coldest winter in the past 50 years - the sidewalk and parking plowed and everything was ready for us, even the Christmas tree! I was little afraid of the cold, temperatures kept dropping, our last days high only 5 degrees and windy, we didn't even go skiing and decided to stay inside. The house was warm and comfy. We have kids, now teenagers with so many, many devices, phones, iPads - the wifi handled it well, which is almost never the case, specially for somewhat remote places we have visited so far! And, when they weren't on their devices, they just chatted in one of the entertainment places while we, "the pesky parents", were talking in dining room or playing pool. The house is spacious enough we never felt cramped or trapped to one activity. I could imagine it's even better in summer when the pool is open. This was our second stay in winter, we were going to different places every year, but this house made us to come again! The owners always asked to tell them what needs to be improved... there is really nothing I can think of. For all the new visitors, from our last year's stay, I remember one of the rooms was cold, until we found the thermostat to control it. So, just be aware there are like five thermostats throughout the house...that's really it. Five stars, I would give you six if I could.

Super House!

  • 5 of 5

We had one of the best Thanksgiving reunions at the General Williams Estate House in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. Twenty-five of us came from Seattle, Florida, NJ, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Longmeadow. Ages ranged from 2-89 years. Everyone loved the house. We enjoyed dinners in the” ice house” which was a separate building just a few paces from the main house equipped with a kitchen and bathroom. There was lots of room for dancing and fun evenings were had by all. The bedrooms in the main house were spacious and easily accommodated 12 adults and 6 children. Most had their own bathrooms which made for a happy family. Other guests stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn or commuted. The teens enjoyed the pool table which was busy about 10 hours a day! Adults found other games and puzzles to keep them busy. The living room was large enough for all the adults to sit and catch up on family news. Although we didn’t use them, there were fireplaces in the living and dining areas and also in most bedrooms. The heating system in the pool table room was not working when we arrived. However, we called Andrea, the owner and a repairman arrived within the hour. Other than that, we had zero problems. At the end of the weekend there was a unanimous vote to return to Stockbridge for our next family reunion in 2019.

Great home with easy access to nearby area

  • 5 of 5

We had a group of 6 couples rent the house for the weekend. The house was very nice and everyone had more than enough room to be comfortable. There is a lot to do in the area (especially for museums and hiking) and everything is an easy drive from the house. Everyone had a great time and wished the weekend would have been longer!

Awesome house and yard

  • 4 of 5

House was fabulous with ample room for all 10 of us childhood lady friends. The road noise from route 7 was substantial for some but the house inside is very quiet. It is an amazing property that must be close to impossible to keep up 100% so there were a few repairs needed but overall our stay was the best yet out of 15 years going away together.
