The communication from host to us was wonderful. House was very clean and had everything you would ever need. Would definitely recommend to anyone coming to Potrero. Check in and check out instructions were very easy. You are steps from pool and beach which was awesome.

This house and host Kip Ladd was absolutely amazing. The location on the beachfront was beautiful and only a short walk down the beach to go into town!! The sunsets were stunning! I would recommend anyone to stay at this house. Kip was always available if needed! Thank you for a wonderful vacation!!

We had an amazing stay at this property. Kip was very helpful, offering clear directions as well as thoughtful suggestions and tips, which made arrival and planning effortless. The home itself exceeded our expectations and was one of the best-equipped rentals we’ve ever stayed in. The setting is peaceful and private, with a quiet beach that truly feels like your own hidden gem. The sunsets were incredible, and we loved walking along the beach to dinner in the evenings. We explored several beaches in the area, but Potrero was one of our favourites - especially because it remained so quiet even during the busy holiday season. This place is a perfect retreat and felt like a little slice of paradise. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it.

Beautiful location

We had an incredible stay! The host was exceptionally friendly and went above and beyond to help us plan activities and provide detailed directions to the location, making everything seamless. The property itself is stunning—far more beautiful than the photos suggest. It’s wonderfully quiet, with a private beach that feels like your own little paradise. The ocean views from the roof and the pool are a very nice bonus. The house was fully equipped with everything we needed for both exploring the area and relaxing in comfort. You can’t go wrong with booking this place—it’s just a little paradise away from home. We definitely would like to be back! Highly recommend!

My wife Elaine and I are from Boise, ID with 3 kids and lived fulltime in Potrero Costa Rica for 3-years before we moved back to get our kiddos off to college. Now, we use Casa Dolphin for months at a time and short-term rent in between with all our kids out of the nest. We are remote workers so have really enjoyed the flexibility of commuting between Boise, ID and Costa Rica and everything both have to offer.

Why they chose this property

Potrero Surfside is a sleepy fishing village mixed within an established expat community. Lots of local restaurants to choose from as well as a fruit and veggie market, adventure tours, local micro-brewery, beach front massages and more. A new world class marina called Flamingo Marina is at the South end of the beach with many restaurants, sunset sailing, and fishing options. Also good shore fishing right from the beach. Very close to other great beaches like Las Catalinas, Playa Penca, Playa Prieta, etc.. Flamingo is a 5 minute drive away and the Tamarindo and Playa Grande area is 20-25 minutes. Less than 1 hour from the Liberia airport.

What makes this property unique

What makes this Potrero, Costa Rica home unique is its spacious layout and large window sliders that open up the entire living room and patio area making for a spectacular view...making for a comfortable open living space. The viewing deck above the pool adds a spectacular viewpoint and place to relax while taking in the ocean views and listening to the waves crashing. Definitely the perfect place to unwind and relax after a day on the beach, which is right at your front door! The master bathroom and main guest bathrooms are spacious. There is also a private smaller bathroom in one of the guest bedrooms. AC is in each room. Wi-fi and cable TV are available throughout the property.
