About Suzzette or Rick

We are San Diegans, via NY & MN, who LOVE Mexico especially the people. We have been going to Zihua and most of Mexico for 30 yrs. Suzzette is a nurse and Rick is an attorney (estates/taxes/real estate). Our 'children' are Golden Retrievers and a Siamese. We are very active and also love sports, history and the social aspects of our travels. We are more than willing to help you enjoy Mexico as we have. Suzzette is the best 'travel agent' so no matter where you are from or want to go in Mexico, always feel free to call or email.

Suzzette or Rick purchased this condo in 2011

Why Suzzette or Rick chose Zihuatanejo

The warmth of the people, water and air of Zihua. The food is outstanding and healthful. The Coronas are great too! Beach soccer is a great tradition at Madera. So close to town! A nice little colonial neighborhood with the best restaurants (wide range)!!

What makes this condo unique

The views, breezes, surf and proximity to all is the key. We aim to make this your annual special treat. From the outset, you will know that you are special to us & this is our 'pride & joy'.

Zihuatanejo for 10 days

  • 5 of 5

Just spent 10 days at this location, having been to Zihuatanejo many times over the past 16 years. Best location, near all beaches, Comercial, downtown. Spectacular views, just above Playa Madera, many great places to eat within walking distance. Two bedrooms, two baths, kitchenette fully stocked, pool on premises. Carmen is manager and is extremely helpful with any issues and recommendations. Would definitely stay here again!

Wonderful service at Bahia Suites

  • 4 of 5

Carmen, the condo manager was outstanding. Our daughter, son-in-law and 6 month old grandchild arrived a few days after us. Carmen assisted us to pick them up at the airport and provided an excellent crib for the baby!

Carmen visits the condo complex daily and was always friendly and most helpful, she made our stay at Bahia Suites most enjoyable. Carmen speaks perfect English and was always available via cell phone.

The condo layout worked well for our family. Privacy for all.

Great vacation

  • 5 of 5

We spent 4 week at this condo and enjoyed every minute. The open view and casual Mexican feel made it relaxing and enjoyable. As I'm learning Spanish I had many opportunities to converse with the locals as some smaller restaurants had waiters who didn't speak English, as well as Zihua being a vacation destination for Mexicans. On Avenida Adelante amongst the numerous restaurants there was a small rock band on Sat. nights who sang in English but could not speak it. A large gathering of tourists would expand into the street singing and dancing until 10pm when the group would TRY to quit. A few more tips encouraged another song or two.

We found there were great well-marked cycle paths in Ixtapa, one of which took us to Playa Linda - 9 or so K. We rented pretty decent bicycles in Ixtapa and discovered there were no restaurants open to the public as it's mainly all-inclusive resorts. We found a spot for a refreshing break at the marina. At one spot the new cycle path was interrupted for a few yards by the old cobble stone path until the new one resumed.

Playa Linda is easily reached by local buses, 12 pesos, and is where you take a water taxis to Isla Ixtapa for beaches, swimming, snorkeling, etc. We were advised to get off the taxis at the 2nd beach and walk about 200 yards across the island to coral beaches for good snorkeling. All 3 beaches have restaurants where the chair rental is included with food or drinks.

We found most everything we needed - Banks, market, bus stop for Ixtapa, on Avenida Benito Juarez and found Scotiabank most convenient and secure. We tried most of the restaurants recommended by our hosts and were not disappointed.

The manager of the codo is Carmen, who speaks excellent English. She is a wealth of information on how to get wherever you wish to go, where to catch buses, etc. She arranges for additional water, and repairs if needed. The two cleaning ladies came promptly at the arranged date and did a good they spoke no English. The pool was always clean and was adequate size for the 8-10 people who enjoyed a late afternoon dip. There was a security guard every evening and, I believe, throughout the night. Mostly it was very friendly Jose Miguel, who spoke convenient English and enjoyed a little chat each time we passed.

Each of our three married children and spouses spent a week with us, totally enjoying the whole experience, including watching the stars from there very comfortable bed.

We would all go again.

Feb.15-26

  • 5 of 5

My wife, daughter, son in law and I stayed in the condo from Feb.15-26 2105. Absolutely wonderful, best view in Zihua. All the ammentities are there (unless you're planning on hosting a Thanksgiving dinner.) The walk to town was short and the cab ride home was about 35 pesos (about 2.50 in US dollars.I slept better at Rick & Suzzette's condo than I do at home. We are all hoping to return next year for two weeks.

Simply Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

Truly a fantastic place! My wife and I, along with our two teenage boys, thoroughly enjoyed ourselves in this very clean, terrific condo.

Spectacular views, ocean breezes, NOT A SINGLE BUG, and the soothing sounds of the ocean all complement the peaceful experience.

Carmen the manager was very helpful, and the owners, Rick and Suzzette, were very easy to work with. All three of them provided great insight about the area.

It was nice having the kitchen, and the two story unit is perfect for families.

We highly recommend this condo!

Zihua is now among our top ranked places to visit and explore in Mexico!

Our New Favorite Place in Mexico

  • 5 of 5

We have a new favorite place in Mexico.

My wife and I have been traveling in Mexican beach towns for over 20 years. From Akumal, Playa del Carmen, Sayulita, Barra de Navidad, Cabo & a few more. Prior to this trip I would have told you that Sayulita was the place. We've been there about ten times starting in 1994.

But Zihua tops them.

You have to like Mexico. That includes walking through some dusty streets with some rumbling trucks & the occasional stray mutt. But it also means the charm of Mexico. The smells of street side restaurants & the feel of warm breezes rustling the palm trees & great beaches.

Zihua is a big enough town that spreads out behind Playa Principale. More than adequate shopping without the high prices of a Playa del Carmen and a great variety of restaurant choices. Yet, it's small enough that you can explore it all easily. Be sure to take a morning & visit the local mercado in the town. Indescribably fun!

Playa la Madera, where this condo is located, is more of a locals beach. Not too many tourists and very welcoming. The three or four "restaurants" on the beach are friendly & cheap - with the exception of Bistro del Mar, a bit more high end but worth a visit.

The condos location is perfect. A short walk to town or short hike over to Playa la Ropa. I think that people who stay at la Ropa tend to stay there because it is a longer walk/hike to town. Or a short taxi ride, but still...

The condo itself is well acquainted. Although it's a two bedroom unit it would be best for a couple (upstairs suite) and kids (downstairs bedroom) as there is not a lot of private space once you're there. To go with another couple we would look into renting this place along with the place next-door as the two can be connected via a door that is locked otherwise. The condo is beautifully wide open with panoramic views of the bay of Zihuatanejo. The kitchen is small but adequate to prep small meals.

Favorites: "Patio Mexica" cooking school; Rufo's for dinner (same spot, different managements); sunset cocktails at any of the places up on the hill leading to la Ropa; fish tacos at Playa las Gatas; the mercado in la centro; watching the schools of fish jump on Playa la Madera & watching the sea birds dive into the schools for dinner.

Rick & Suzette were really accommodating and helpful with our planning. They have great recommendations for eating & shopping and exploring. Muchas gracias!
