Off Grid Cabin With WIFI! Surrounded by hiking trails, beautiful scenery
This 3 bed, 1.5 bath off-grid cabin allows up to 7 guests to sleep comfortably in the fresh cool air of the mountains! Enjoy the outdoor food prep area with a canopy-level view of the forest before starting a great campfire to watch the stars and enjoy the company. It is off-grid, but to access the internet you simply log into the wifi and stream movies to relax before bedtime. To use the toaster, coffee maker, microwave, griddle or charge your phone at the kitchen bar, just start the generator outside and enjoy food and lights for night time fun. The indoor kitchen features granite counters, sinks flowing with cool spring water, pots and pans, plus a cozy breakfast bar with stools. The dining room is surrounded by large windows, bringing in light and birds chirping in the morning. There is a bedroom on the ground level with a queen bed, a bedroom upstairs with a full sized bed and a second upstairs bedroom has a full sized and twin sized bed. Upstairs there is a powder room so using the restroom in the middle of the night is safe. Bathroom sinks, toilets and shower operate from cool spring water so flushing and hygiene are simple and is heated by a propane water heater. The wood stove is warm on chilly mornings and a stack of firewood is split and ready for you! Special note: there is no refrigerator so it is advisable to bring a cooler or let me know and I will lend you one. The water to the house is non potable so bring your favorite bottled beverages!

It was really great to meet you guys and keep in touch for your free stay up at the chalet! You guys are troopers and really embraced the rigor and hardships of spring up here. Please come back when you have time and take care of your selves!
Awesome place! Gavin was very nice and responded to all of my questions! This cabin is great for the “camping” experience with a little luxury! We definitely will be renting again!!

I would definitely rent to Heather and her group again! Very nice folks and seemed to enjoy the peace and primative pace. I hope they come back to visit soon! 10 out of 10, would rent again!
Our host, Gavin, was very upfront and honest about everything we needed to know for our stay. If you're looking for a cabin hidden from every day hustle, Gavin has what you're looking for. The price point was amazing, the scenery was beautiful, and the peace we had was priceless. 10/10 would definitely book again!

Off-grid cabin
We enjoyed our stay. This property is exactly what it claims to be, an off-grid cabin. This is not a luxury stay, but it was what we expected, and the location is remote and peaceful. Communication was timely, helpful, and accurate.

Gavin is an amazing host. Super friendly, and super helpfil. We called him with an issue and he came right to us in a timely manner. This was our second time staying and we will be back again and again. We came to relax and that is exactly what we did. I was sad when we left. Lol

Host was great. Loved that the cabin is off the grid and sits toward the top of a hill that is very secluded and quite. Loved that it's not far from the Payette river and all the trails to drive on, also star gazing at night is amazing. Issues we had was it wasn't the cleanest. Cabin has a serious mouse problem. Found mouse droppings and urine in all kitchen drawers and cabinets. Most of the toilet paper and bars of soap had be chewed on by mice. The beds box spring on the first floor had been all chewed up by mice. There seems to be a larger rodent living in the ceiling between the first and second floor, makes quite the commotion at night. Haha Lastly there is bats living on the front of the cabin which I do not have an issue with. We do believe tho they were getting into the cabin through the upstairs window screen that had a hole in it, was not able to close window to stop them. We did find bat feces in the upstairs on one of the window seals. We would love to stay at this off the grid cabin again but the rodent problem needs to be addressed before we stay again.

Thank you for your honest feedback Ashley and I want to make sure to get back with you on it. We did have a problem with mice this spring as did many homes in our area. We took big steps in eradicating them and installed bucket traps. They have eliminated the short term mouse problem and have not caught any mice in the last few weeks. They are difficult to get rid of as the poison leaves tiny carcasses in unexpected places. I hope this restores your confidence in renting in the future and again, thank you for your feedback as it is valuable for improvement.
Gavin was one of the easiest hosts to work with. Thanks for your support!

This property listing is totally misrepresented. The listing says kitchenette, which in my experience means a stovetop with at least two burners for cooking, and a fridge for perishable food. This property has neither, so all the food we brought, most of which needed refrigeration and cooking, was useless. We had the food in a cooler with ice for travel day, but not for a 3-night stay. The cabin is off the grid, meaning for electricity for lights, and appliances, would need a generator which we knew from the listing. However, it took the owner 5 pulls and a choke adjustment to start it. My husband tried, and on the 4th pull, the starter cord broke. The owner said this is a weekly occurrence and he had tools to fix it. In the meantime, we thought maybe we could use the gas BBQ to cook something. But the starter didn't work, owner said must be the battery, we could use a match. But the gas was making a loud whistling noise, which sounded like a leak, not to mention, the BBQ was filthy, years of caked on grease and food, decided against that. We had no idea that the water wasn't drinkable, no mention in the listing to bring your own drinking water. We had a few bottles for travel days but not nearly enough for 3 days! I found out by reading some faded handwritten signs on the bathroom wall. The cabin was very dirty, mouse droppings everywhere, floors, kitchen cabinets. I have run out of space but we did not stay and no refund. I have reported to VRBO. Beware!

Thanks for your review and feedback. The ad clearly states the cabin is an off grid cabin, which has pretty clear inferences regarding no refrigerator, etc. But, you were provided with a 2 burner hot plate, griddle, toaster, microwave and coffee maker, so you representation her is disingenuous.
Regarding the broken generator cord, it was immediately repaired when you notified me that it occurred, so I am not sure what the complaint is here?
As far as condition of the home, it is swept and or vacuumed after each stay and inspected between renters. Your bed sheets, pillow cases and blankets were laundered as they are between each guest.
As far as your review, I hope in the future you will consider reading the ad description completely and if it indicates the property is off grid, consider the conditions necessary for a peaceful and relaxing stay. It is not for everyone. Thank you and all the best to you!
Host was excellent l. He went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. I sprang my ankle on the first day we checked in. We were off the grid, and didn't have enough ice. He gave me his ice packs. It helped a lot. We enjoyed our stay and would it again. Thank you!

Matt, your misrepresentation of the condition of the cabin is unfortunate. A walk through was conducted on the cabin prior to your arrivale as it is for each guest. The condition of it was clean and functional. The ad clearly states to bring your own bedding as bedding is not laundered regularly, but we now provide laundered sheets for each visit. You had to drive to a hotel because you arrived five hours later than your scheduled walk through with the manager and couldn't figure out how to run a generator for the lights. You arrival was observed by the manager from the chalet about 60 feet from the cabin and he overheard your confusion. Next time you choose a rental please thoroughly read the description instead of merely choosing it by the lowest price. The cabin is described as "off grid" in the marketing, so I am not sure how you missed that. And, yes, your request for refund was denied in compliance with VRBO policy.

Very dirty. Thank goodness we brought our own bedding. Bbq was old and dirty and is the only way to cook except we did cook on wood stove. The picture of the wood stacked was an old picture, had to cut wood ourselves. Only plastic silverware and no forks. Downstairs bathroom toilet didn’t work. Stains on carpet and holes in couch. Garbage and random things lying around. No garbage can liners. Outside property is strewn with broken stuff & patio old rusted and pads tore up.Generator to small to run microwave.Beautiful view but the whole place needs some tender loving care.
Exactly as described! Best vacation ever!Best host ever!!! Gaven is super nice, very helpful and knowledgeable. He’s just a call away. Here are some points for renter to be aware of:1. BRING: Drinking water. As described, the water is not drinkable. Bed linen and towels (if needed your own pillow)2. Please be aware that there is a dirt road from ID 21 to the cabin. I did make it up in my old Prius. However, you might encounter some heavy rains that might make it more difficult for you. 3. To get to any store it takes a good hour depending on traffic. Plan accordingly. 4. The cabin is stocked with lots of cookware, plates, cups and utensils. There are chargers for your electronics as well. I have T-mobile and had no difficulty getting a signal but did loose it while driving sometimes. My friends didn’t and were not able to get a signal unless we were in town. 5. It is located on the edge of the mountain. There is no lawn. But there is plenty of space to get around. 6. Lots of spectacular view with exquisite wildlife. Lots of deer( sorry I didn’t get any pics of them).7. I have a walk around pics but I’m having some difficulty uploading them.

Step up of roughing it -wouldn’t let me finish
Got to the cabin the previous renters were still there after their check out time.Glad they were, b/c the owner didn’t think we were coming till the next day so we had no check in info. The R told us he wasn’t happy with his stay&letting us know all the issues.Walked in & the sink was clogged&a dead mouse on the floor. We walked through the cabin&realized there wasn’t any clean bedding. We called Gavin&he told us he couldn’t come till the evening. He came that night&told us we were suppose to bring our own bedding/pillows,which was NOT on the listing. He did find clean sheets.Next day went&purchased an almost$50blanket.He did refund1night for the error on the listing.Next morning another dead mouse.I get it we’re up in the woods there’s mice.No hot water to clean the dishes so I felt gross using them.We went to Idaho City&spent more$on getting another blanket & supplies for the cabin which was not cheap.Called&left several messages about no hot water.Heard nothing back for 2 days.He told us there was no water heater.Told us he’d do some kind of refund but he didn’t.We booked for6nights with3young kids who refused to take a freezing cold shower. Can’t blame them,b/c I did and it did not feel good.Doing dishes was a process due to boiling water on the grill that didn’t work the greatest & the microwave shutting off b/c the generator(smaller than the one pictured)was tiny.We couldn’t use the hot plate&sometimes couldn’t use the microwave(used one at a time)The sink clogged several ti
Gavin was an amazing host and his property was as described. It was rustic and secluded. The hot water was nice and hot and the shower pressure was great. We did not use the generator, even though it worked. I prefer my nature very quiet. We brought our jet boil and Coleman gas cook stove instead. The indoor wood stove was my favorite thing. It kept us warm and happy. I was able to cook 3 of 4 dinners off the top of the wood stove. Now that is rustic!! Exactly what we wanted.Gavin was great at giving us some fun things to do. We soaked in the nearby hot springs every single day! Redfish Lake in Stanley was a fun day as well.We will come back!

Hey Kurtis, I appreciate your review, but the place was cleaned before you got there and you may not have understood that since you missed your walk through. I spent extra time instructing you on how to use the generator despite you threatening to "kick my" butt, but instantly changing your mind upon meeting me. Maybe an off grid cabin rental should be excluded in your future plans. Best of luck!
Thank you Lisa and I hope you can come back soon, this time, no landslides :)

Hey Taylor, thanks for submitting a review for our OFF GRID CABIN in LOWMAN, IDAHO. A little more information would be useful to understand your review. I doubt it was the price considering the cabin is half the cost of anything in the area. Unless you didn't read the details of the listing, it is doubtful you could have been uncomfortable with the generator or water heater for the place. You didn't say anything at the walk through which gave you all the instructions you needed and even connected you to the wifi for easy communication with me. If you feel like you have made your review in haste or prematurely you can always send me a private message to explain your feedback. Thank you and take care!
