Blissful Blue House
Fabulous as always
Great place to stay for Christmas!
We had a fabulous time at The Blue House. Very comfortable accommodation - bedrooms and stunning lounge looking over the Solent. Well equipped kitchen to cook Christmas lunch, great fire, good showers.... all round very good. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there.
Brilliant that your Christmas was so nice. I think the open fire makes all the difference to that cosy winter feeling.
Excellent accommodation with lovely views
We chose this property for a long October week-end. We were six adults and one 3 month old baby. The property was nicely furnished and had everything you needed for a comfortable stay. Nice garden with sea views and plenty of outdoor furniture. Access to the beach below could be made from the garden, although this was a little steep in places. Plenty of hot water and the central heating made it all warm and cosy for us. A shop for provisions just a short walk away. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Beautiful house in a stunning location away from the crowds. We had a lovely week with our son's family and there was plenty of room for the seven of us. The children loved playing in the garden and on the trampoline. There's lot's of places to sit outside and as we had good weather we made the most of it ! We loved the visits from the red squirrels in the morning and the bats at dusk.
This property only deserves praise although the walk to the beach through the wood is not for everyone.
Brenda, a lovely review, many thanks. Im so glad you saw the red squirrels they are quite hard to spot. You are right the woodland walk meanders down through the wood to the beach and can be slippery in the wet. We are planning another route this winter which will be quicker but equally picturesque.
Keep going back for more
This was the 5th year we went to the Blue House and we're booking it again next year..need I say more? It's a gem
Pretty nearly perfect.
Everything we expected and more. Plenty of space, very well equipped, comfortable. Probably the first place we have ever stayed at when on holiday where we were quite happy just to lounge around the place and not be wanting to go off somewhere all the time. (This could have had something to do with the hot weather, as well!).
The village of Gurnard is right next to the famous yachting centre of Cowes. The popular Gurnard Sailing Club is two minutes walk away. Local facilities include; pubs, paper shops and a greengrocer. The island is a great place for visitors especially children with a wealth of activities including: cycling, walking, windsurfing, sailing, tennis and numerous attractions and activity centres.
We can arrange yacht charters, rib rides, fishing trips and even parascending. You name it and the island probably does it.
For walkers there are hundreds of spectacular walks across downland and headland, bridleways criss cross the island.
A short walk down through your private wood takes you to your beach, great for evening swims, bar-b-Q's, fishing or just watching the sun go down with a beer in your hand.
For wildlife enthusiasts the garden is a haven for Red Squirrel, badgers, foxes, woodpeckers and numerous other birds.
