Lynn and I have owned our lake home since 1988. Long ago we used to camp in the Kettle Moraine State Forest and decided that it was such a beautiful and secluded area we had to have a place here that we could call our home away from home. It has been a dream come true (but not without expense) where we have opened nature to our son and daughter whom can someday do the same with their own children. Let us provide you with the ideal lake house for your family and friends to getaway and experience all the area has to offer.
Joe purchased this House in 1988
Why Joe chose Whitewater
The surrounding area is truly unbelievable and offers serenity and tranquility for a perfect escape from reality. There are countless hiking, biking, swimming, fishing, and boating activities in the summer and snowmobiling, ice fishing, ice-skating, sledding, and skiing activities in the winter. Rice Lake has very little boat traffic, as there are only 40 homes on the lake with few permanent residents. There are no marinas directly on Rice Lake, which limits visitors however; there is a boat ramp located on state park property if you wish to bring your own boat but be sure to obtain proper stickers and licenses. Speedboats and jet skis are welcomed between 9am-5pm with wake-free otherwise. Mornings and evenings are set aside for quiet canoeing or fishing or just sitting outside with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. Our property is located in a wake-free bay so peace and quiet can always be enjoyed. For more action, Whitewater Lake (600+ acres) is right next door with a couple of marinas. There is no navigable access between the 2 lakes, just a spillover.

Very clean and organized. Quiet lake. Great for relaxing.
We were amazed by how much the homeowner left for to use at our disposal. The garage is filled with multiple water toys, fishing rods, bikes, beans bags, you name it. You make your way down to the lake and there are kayaks, canoe and a paddle boat. We were forturnate to have Joe open up his house to us. We had a great week on Rice Lake. Thanks.
Fantastic vaca home!
This home is a great place to share vacation time with your family. Everything is there for you!
From water 'toys' to a cozy place for outdoor fires and making s'mores, washer/dryer, lovely bathrooms, a well-equipped kitchen, large-screen TV's, a fantastic wrap-around porch, etc. etc. Also, the proximity to the state park and beach, complete with boat rentals is terrific. All you need to bring is your spirit of adventure, desire for a relaxing environment, your swim suit, and some good food and beverages. You'll be set for a great time at Joe's place. Enjoy!
This was our first rental vacation home for my family. We were very impressed. Home is clean! We enjoyed the deck everyday and night. We had 2 small children and filled up a kiddie pool for them on the deck. (Bring swim shoes for them, so they don't get splinters.). The recent reviews were right about going shopping after you arrive. There are already tons of condiments etc. ENJOY!
Fun for All Generations!
Great property for all generations to enjoy the outdoors! My 96 year old mom could be part of all the action right from the wonderful Deck. Joe and his family made it easy for us to relax! We have returned to this property twice now. Hoping for another reunion late summer of 2016
We had a blast
Joe's house was amazing place. He was very easy to work with and the house was stocked with absolutely everything we needed. The winter is certainly not the best season to stay on the lake but we had a couple of sunny days to take advantage of. The towns around are very interesting to drive by, we went to Madison and New Glarus. Well try to be back during warmer weathers. I highly recommend Joe's cabin.
Everything you need or want and then some
Great house, great property (everything you read here is true!). So nice to have boating options without having to bring or rent anything (we did bring kids' life jackets, but we wouldn't have needed to). Hiking with our dog in Kettle Moraine was a highlight (just make sure you look up which trails allow pets). Joe is very friendly and welcoming. An all around great rental experience!
