The condo was even nicer than the photos. The patio furniture was very nice and had enough seating for the entire family to sit together and enjoy the beach view. The main issue that I would like to see changed is the number of codes for the complex that have to be used. Maybe the same code could be used for the pool, beach access, workout room, tennis courts and drive in gate. Change once a week if necessary but these are just too many codes. As far as the code for this individual unit, the lockbox is on the outside rail on the floor which makes it difficult for older renters to access and is not very bright. During the day it was difficult to see the code numbers to change for access. At night it was impossible to see except for the very young with the best eyes. Maybe a lock box that is higher up with some type of brighter light over it.
Other than the code issues we loved the condo and the location.
Beautiful 3 BR 3 BA corner unit condo. Well decorated and fully furnished. Large outdoor balcony.
Property has two outdoor pools plus a small indoor pool and hot tub.
Only negative is the high density beach as result of number of high rise condos in this area. We usually stay at Ocean Breeze where the smaller condo complexes result in less people on the beach.
One reason we choose this condo is the website shows two sets of bunk beds in the 3rd bedroom - actually has one set of bunks but 2nd set is configured as queen bed. Caused some discussion among the kids on who sleeps where. Suggest updating the website.
Great condo! We really enjoyed our stay in Beach Colony West 2D. We've been visiting Perdido Key for 11 years. This was our first stay at Beach Colony. The condo was well furnished and very comfortable. Lots of natural light. The kitchen is gorgeous and had everything we needed for meals. The balcony is huge and well furnished. Overall, great trip and highly recommend this place.
I have used vrbo.com exclusively for about 15 years and have recommended it to countless others. Now I will try to reach them and let them know of your new agenda. In all those years I have never been charged by vrbo for a booking..... until now.... Please remove me from all of your mailing lists.... but again the condo was great...
The condo was clean and well furnished. The kitchen and balcony were the best parts of the unit. The kitchen was large, fully stocked and everything worked. The balcony was very large with a direct, beautiful view of the ocean. We enjoyed sitting out there having our coffee in the mornings and sipping wine at night. Our 1 and 3 year old grand children enjoyed playing out there also. Being on the 2nd floor was convenient because we spent very little time on the elevator, plus we were close to the pools. Everything was really conveniently located. There were a couple of issues. My daughter-in-law and myself both kept sneezing. We discovered short, white animal hairs on the sofa and under the coffee table which was a surprise since the condo description said no pets allowed. Though most of the furniture on the deck and in the condo was very comfortable the mattress in the master bedroom was rather hard. Also the master bathroom was small. The most disappointing thing regarding the facilities was the extremely cold water in the pools. We chose to stay at this place because the description said there was an indoor heated pool. It was not heated at all, in fact it was very cold and neither the indoor or outdoor pool were "kid friendly". Since the water was 3 feet deep, even at the entrance, the only place for our grandson to play was on the steps. The unit itself was nice, but the facilities were a bit of a disappointment. The ocean and beach were gorgeous as always!
Beautiful condo, well decorated, layout worked perfectly for my family, well stocked kitchen, the staff at the Beach Colony were pleasant and helpful. We thank you for providing a perfect vacation home.
When it comes to having fun, the Gulf Coast is the place to be. No matter what the season or activity, there’s always something for the whole family to enjoy.
Along with the crystal waters of the Gulf, the area is home to many rivers, bays and inlets teeming with fish. Catch a speckled trout from your canoe along the backwater bays. Venture into the deeper waters of the Gulf to reel in a snapper for dinner or land a billfish for the fight of your life.
If your sights are set on birding in Alabama and Florida, look no further. The Gulf Coast is home to an extensive nature trail for bird watching. A day trip to nearby Weeks’ Bay Estuary or Dauphin Island Sea Lab will provide you with remarkable opportunities to study indigenous and migrating species as well.
If shopping is your favorite pursuit, the chase is over. The Tanger Outlet in Foley boasts more than 120 factory outlets, like Banana Republic, GAP, J.Crew, Coach, and more. You’ll also relish the unique clothing and jewelry found in local boutiques. The Gulf Coast is a true shopper’s haven.
Golf, anyone? With so many championship courses in reach, it’s hard to decide which to play first. We offer a variety of convenient golf packages, whether you want a round with a buddy, or a whole weekend of golf tied to a corporate event.
If you’re hungry for seafood, Gulf Shores and Orange Beach offers some of the freshest in the world. From casual and family-friendly, to upscale and elegant, you’ll find endless options, no matter what your mood. And, if you’re here in October, be sure to sample the Gulf Shores National Shrimp Festival, a favorite among locals and vacationers alike.
Each year, the calendar of events in Mobile, Pensacola and surrounding areas is filled with community celebrations, arts festivals and seasonal gatherings. Here are just a few of the more popular annual events along the Gulf Coast of Alabama.
BBQ Championship & Hog Wild Festival
Every March, individuals from around the nation gather in Mobile for the annual BBQ Championship & Hog Wild Festival. Talented chefs can take part in the backyard BBQ competition, serving up savory plates of chicken and ribs. Competing teams also vie for the distinctions of best sauce, best seafood dish and best dessert. The fun doesn't stop there - visitors can enter pig races and enjoy cooking demonstrations at the Hog Wild Festival. The Festival also includes games, science exhibits, a rock-climbing wall, pony rides, and live music. No matter where your interests lie, all festival-goers can find great entertainment.
Mobile International Festival
A celebration of the world?s many cultures, the Mobile International Festival gives are residents the chance to explore the customs, history and cuisine of far off-nations, all under one roof at the Mobile Civic Center. Held over three days in November, the festival includes art and craft from around the globe. Performances include music, dance, puppetry and acrobatics from a diverse array of cultures. Of course, the festival also includes plenty of world food to delight the appetites of visitors.
Gulf Shores Annual Shrimp Festival:
In fall the small coastal community of Gulf Shores welcomes over 200,000 visitors to the Shrimp Festival, a four day celebration of the Gulf?s most delicious resident. Not surprisingly, visitors can indulge on almost every kind of shrimp recipe imaginable. In addition, the festival is stocked with plenty of other great seafood choices as well as festival favorites like funnel cakes and kettle corn. Bands play on two separate stages throughout the day and on into the evening, art is displayed by both regional and national artists. A special Children?s Village has plenty of games and activities for the little ones. One of the most popular events at the festival (after a good shrimp meal) is the sand castle competition, which is open to both children and adults.
Though few know it, the roots of Mardi Gras actually took hold in Mobile in 1703, long before ever being adopted by the city of New Orleans. Mobile was at one time the capital of France?s Louisiana Colony, and the influence of French culture and the growth of the region?s Creole population easily explain why the celebration caught on so easily. Since its Gulf Coast beginnings, Mardi Gras has been one of the most popular and captivating annual events in the region. Mardi Gras in Mobile includes colorful parades, elegant balls and pageants, and elaborate street fairs featuring dazzling performers and intricate, vivid costumes. America?s family-friendly Mardi Gras, the celebration last nearly two weeks and culminates on Fat Tuesday, the last day before the Catholic Lent.
