Overview

About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms, 4 Baths, (Sleeps 12-13)

Villa Indigo is located in the heart of the Alpilles hills of Southern France.

It has 4 air-conditioned bedrooms, sleeping 12-13 people.

The villa has been designed in the style of a traditional Provencal bastide, and is part of a private estate with an other house, close to the old centre of Saint Remy de Provence.

The villa is set privately in its own garden within the estate, which is surrounded by old olive groves, hedges and scented trees and plants.

It has four bedroom, one on the ground floor, three upstairs, each with private shower rooms, and lovely views of the hills from the upstairs rooms. The two double + single bed, and the two twin-rooms, have been individually decorated in a Provencal style and the whole house is air-conditioned.

The living room is comfortably furnished, and has a fireplace, a large satellite television screen, DVD and stereo. The kitchen is typically Provencal and well equipped, with a large fridge/freezer, stove, microwave, and dishwasher, and opens onto a covered terrace, where there is a barbecue, and table and chairs. There is also laundry room with a washing machine and a dryer.

There is a private heated swimming pool in a lovely, shady setting, which has a security alarm, sunbeds, and garden furniture scattered under the trees. Outside lights softly illuminate the whole property in the evenings, and there is a garage.

Saint Rémy has a golf course, as well as, tennis courts and riding stables. You can also go fishing or gliding, and there are endless places to walk or cycle through the hills and discover for yourself, unspoiled, tucked away areas.

Glanum, just outside Saint Rémy is one of the most important Roman archeological sites in Provence. Founded 300 BC, it reveals a civilization that influences life here even today.

You can see thermal baths, an avenue of houses, the temple and the natural spring, and the remains of a Gallo-Roman town dating 30-10 BC. On the road leaving Glanum are the ancient Arc de Triomphe and Les Antiquities, the gateway to Glanum, standing as they have since that time. Close by is St Paul de Mausole, where Van Gogh spent his last days.

From there it is only a short drive through the hills to Les Beaux, an ancient village perched high on the rocks, once one of the most celebrated and brilliant of the troubadour courts of love in the Middle Ages, now romantically ghostly.

The villa is also at the centre of the Baux de Provence and Côteaux d'Aix vineyards and not far from Château Neuf du Pape.

It is important to note that Airports Marseille Internationa is only eighty kilometres, Avignon is twenty kilometres, car rental is available. Road Paris/Saint Rémyisis six hours, Rail Avignon (TGV Paris/Avigno) is two hours and forty-five minutes and twenty kilometres, rental car is available.

For a French vacation you will not soon forget, our villa is a place you have dreamed about, and you will not be disappointed!

About Celine

My husband and I are french . We are living in the east of France where it's only hot(when it is !!) in July and August.

and decided to

build our villa at St Remy de Provence in 2003 because we were mad of Provence : We liked very much the launscapes, the sun, the smells, the small montains , the blue sky, the markets...We are always sad when we are leaving Saint Remy but are always thinking about to come back !!

Celine purchased this house in 2003

Why Celine chose Saint-Rémy-de-Provence

We decided to build our villa at St Remy de Provence in 2003 because we were mad of Provence : We liked very much the launscapes, the sun, the smells, the small montains , the blue sky, the markets...We are always sad when we are leaving Saint Remy but are always thinking about to come back !!

What makes this house unique

Our villa is located a the end of a private road, in a very quiet place. By footh it is at 5-8 minutes to the old center of St Remy where you'll find nice restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries, shops, market...

Guestbook comments from the owner

Four spacious and comfortable bed and bathrooms with a master suite on the ground level made a perfect rendezvous location for multiple family and friend visitors during our four weeks at Villa Indigo from mid March to mid April 2016. Everyone loved our choice of VRBO Villa Indigo for our month in Provence and St Remy was the ideal central location for day trips far and wide.....

The large living/dining/kitchen open floor plan was perfect for entertaining our many guests, during their 3-4 day visits, and the outdoor dining table fo 8 proved a great luncheon and dinner spot when the weather cooperated.

The bloom of the patio covered Wisteria trellis/ceiling was a wonderful spectacle of white and purple scented flowers not to be missed at this season of the year and was conducive to open window and door sleeping at night .....and sun worshipping during the day.

Although the lovely pool was a bit chilly (at this time of year) the adjacent Boules pitch was a great distraction for a late afternoon game or two before teatime or cocktails, as was the garage ping pong table during a rainy afternoon......... Likewise the toys, bikes and other useful items of play could provide distractions for the kids......

Important also was the weekly house keeping service and fresh bed and bath linens... provided by the smiling and helpful French female house staff.....

Merci Beaucoup Celine and Patrick...... We enjoyed you villa all month............ Your Nashville visitors.

We loved Villa Indigo!

  • 4 of 5

My partner and I fell in love with the Villa online but (hard to believe) it was more charming in person. We stayed 10 days with my cousin and friends. We LOVED the pool and the outdoor kitchen. The interior of the villa is wonderfully appointed with plenty of room for up to 10 to 12 guests. The kitchen is charming. We spent many happy mornings there drinking coffee, eating delicious French yogurt and planning our day. The location in St Remy is ideal for day trips to Provençal hill towns and wineries. We particularly loved Gigondas and Romain wineries. I would stay there again in a heartbeat. Loved it! Two issues - the villa is difficult to locate without specific directions. Do not believe tour car's GPS. The point of contact does not speak any English. We were very lucky that two of our friends were fluent in French.

Convenient location, well stocked house, beautiful garden

  • 5 of 5

Our group of 7 adults stayed at the villa in April for 8 nights and we were very impressed with how comfortable and well stocked the house was. The bedroom/bath situation was ideal with each bedroom having a bath of its own, nicely appointed kitchen, lovely outdoor furniture. The garden is worth a visit in itself. The location was great, we could walk to the center of St. Remy and take short day trips to many other Provence attractions. I would definitely return

We are always so happy to return to Villa Indigo!

  • 5 of 5

This beautiful home has everything you could want: air conditioning, an indoor and an outdoor kitchen, heated pool, 4 bedrooms (each with bath). It is only a 15 minute walk from the center of St.-Remy de Provence, a lovely town with charming restaurants and small shops. It is also a short car ride from Les Baux, where we enjoy the Carrieres de Lumiere light show every year and then treat ourselves to lunch at L'Oustau de Baumaniere.

The owners have chosen a lovely woman to be the point person for the entire stay, and she is responsive to any request or issue.

Lovely house - Close to Perfection

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Villa Indigo in July 2016. Celine, the owner, was a pleasure to deal with in getting the initial arrangements set up. When we arrived, Michelle, the local owner representative, was also very easy and pleasant to deal with, despite her very limited English. The house is fully stocked and the bedroom/bathrooms are private and abundant. The grounds, pool and outside kitchen were marvelous. My only two comments would be to provide more towels (some were too old) and the pool could have been warmer. We used the cover and it heated right up due to the sun. During the week, the gardener, pool man and cleaning ladies visited. Great location near to St. Remy. I highly recommend Villa Indigo.

Owner's Response: Hello Richard, Thanks for your review. I bought new towels last year but I have older too, maybe you received some old ones...I asked Michelle to give more towels. If'you'll be back please ask her more. The pool is heated at 29°C if I heat it more the water can become green and you won't be able to go in. I hope to see you again in the next years. Sincerely Celine

Villa Indigo, St Remy du Provence

  • 5 of 5

Can internet pictures live up to reality ?- in this case they did. The villa is well appointed, immaculately clean, with an excellent pool and immaculate gardens. We had a wonderful two week break. The check-in was straightforward and pleasant as was the initial booking process. It was a holiday without fault and we highly recommend the villa and the area is so beautiful, it would be hard not to have a memorable holiday from this location. St. Remy Villa Indigo

  • 5 of 5

This is a tardy review for a mid 2014 week stay at this wonderful villa. We highly recommend it for people looking for a luxury property a little off the tourist route. The town is fabulous and lots of dining options in the area. But truthfully, we ate lunch out on excursions and then shopped in town and had such lovely dinners on our patio most nights. We really never cooked inside but everything is available. The pool and grounds are spectacular and we agree with other reviewers, the house is great even for only 4 people. You will enjoy the common areas and have room to move about.

Only suggestion would be lots more bath and pool towels available. Nice to have a washer and we loved the drying line. All in all, great for small or very large group!
