Superb private family escape

Casa de la Roca is exactly what we were looking for, a relaxing escape in the jungle. This house is wonderful, the interior is as beautiful as the pristine exterior. Mornings on the roof top, fully furnished patio are a great start to any day; you can watch for birds, butterflies, and other wildlife. If you are up for some adventure, the house is in a wonderful location that adventure is not to far. We decided to go horseback riding into the rain forest to enjoy a swim at the bottom and a jump of the top of a picturesque waterfall, swim at the local beach, and zipline through the trees. For the entire week the afternoons were filled with lounging, swimming, and just enjoying the natural environment around the home. After we enjoyed the superb sunsets, every night, we were able to visit some nice restaurants, then head back to the house for a night cap while star gazing from the pool. This place was just great, the house itself is perfect, the view is the best, and the location is close to many activities and restaurants.

They say you can’t go back however we did and found our second stay at Casa de la Roca as enjoyable as our first! Once again the owners, Paul & Cindy, provided a 5 star experience for us. As other guests have commented, everything is perfection! We simply absorbed the beauty and ambiance around us. You can’t go wrong selecting Casa de la Roca! There is NONE better!

Absolutly amazing

The house was perfect each room had its own bathroom which was absolutely perfect. The views of the sunset every night where perfect. Plenty of great places to eat from fine dining to quick bites however the kitchen is so nice you are able to go down to the local store and pick up food to make your own dinner and enjoy it out on the patio. It was an absolutely perfect week.

Absolutely lovely home!

My husband and I with our 4 sons, age 14-23, traveled to CR after Christmas and stayed at this lovely home. The communication, logistics and other info from the owner, Paul, as well as property managers, Keith and Karen was easy and extremely helpful. The house is very clean and beautifully appointed. It has everything you need. The kitchen is very well stocked with quality cookware and cooking necessities. The pool is lovely as is the property and landscaping. We felt very secluded and private and totally at home. Beds are super comfy and baths have everything you need. We loved hanging out in the morning on the elevated lookout porch with our coffee. One morning we were visited by an interesting pair of brightly colored parakeets. It was really cool to hear the Howler monkeys in the adjacent forest as we had our coffee or swam in the pool. Great restaurants near by as well. Best meal ever at Citrus which is 10 mins away!! We had a very enjoyable stay and would definitely go back!

Dream home, fully equipped, incredible vacations.

Paul and Cindy, We are very happy to share your dream home. Nothing is missing here. The landscaping is great and the house is really comfortable. The view of the mountains, screaming monkeys, toucans, the sea, the village of Ojochal and this starry sky is possible thanks to the location of choice of the property. We lived in several houses in the area and this is by far the most interesting. We are only two, but it is obvious that this house can accommodate more than 6 adults. Each room has a private furnished balcony, a full bathroom and a very comfortable bed. The indoor and outdoor lighting is more than complete, the outdoor shower with its palm tree lane is a must, the infinity pool with sea views is a place you never get tired of. The upscale and fully equipped kitchen is completed with the outdoor BBQ. The balcony on the second level allows an incredible 360 ​​degree view and is the ideal place for morning coffee and aperitif at sunset. We will surely come back year after year, André and Claudia

Paradise - we loved it!

WOW! My wife and I stayed here for two weeks, and it wasn't even close to long enough. We went down for our anniversary and from the professionalism of the caretakers, the ease with which we got there and back, and the overall stunning beauty of it, we have to say that it changed our lives. This gorgeous three bedroom home with a pool, an observation deck to view 360 degrees the jungle around you, an outdoor shower, along with a gorgeous kitchen, very comfortable beds, and an enormous bathtub (very important for my wife), wowed us. We wanted to get away from it all and relax. We certainly found it here. We had an extremely quiet and restful stay, but total access to a wide array of restaurants and entertainment in Ojachal itself. We were impressed with the quality and variety of cuisine offered in the area. Our two favorites were Exotica and Citrus. Not to mention the easy access to the beach. It's a 10 minute ride down to the road, and you have plenty of beaches to choose from. The place was clean and well maintained. Any questions we had were dutifully handled by our caretakers, and we had total privacy and comfort for ourselves. Do yourself a favor and book a stay here. We definitely plan to as soon as possible.

Perfect Sanctuary in Paradise

I don't know how one review could adequately convey how incredible this place is, but I'll try. My husband and I wanted to take a two week vacation together to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary, and we were lucky enough to take it at Casa de la Roca in Ojochal, Costa Rica. We could not have dreamed up a better place! The house is a gorgeous sanctuary - high up on a hill offering stunning views. It's off the beaten path, but still easily accessible in the small, friendly community in Ojochal. Being in the house offers a feeling of seclusion, but also of safety and security. A gate protects the community, and the wonderfully warm and helpful Karen & Keith are available for any needs that might arise. The house, the yard, the pool, and the view are all stunning. We stayed in the master bedroom, which has the most gorgeous bathtub ever, complete with that unforgettable sunset view. Being in the infinity pool and watching the sun set in the Pacific ocean was an evening ritual we never missed - unless we were catching a different view watching it from the Observation Deck. (We also saw monkeys in the trees behind the Deck! So amazing) Although there are many delicious restaurants in the area (Citrus is my favorite!), we cooked at the house for the majority of our meals and the kitchen is a DREAM! Tons of counter space, top of the line appliances, any kitchen gadget we needed, and even a grill. The beautiful Playa Ventana beach is close by and we were always pleasantly surprised it wasn't more crowded. I really can't gush enough about this house. We wanted to get off the grid and feel like we were the only two people in the world for awhile, and we got that and so much more. We are cherishing our memories, and can't wait for the opportunity to go back and make more!

Stunning home in Ojachal

One of the best properties we have ever rented. High on a hill with expansive 180 degree ocean views, this large brightly sunny home has a magnificent infinity pool. Although the initial drive up is a bit difficult requiring a true 4WD, we quickly got used to the trip up. The home is extremely comfortable, well laid out with an incredible kitchen. There is an induction stove top and every utensil and cooking equipment one could ask for. Sunsets are breathtaking from the pool terrace. It is so amazing we never wanted to leave. The managers were available for any concerns. It is truly a place to return to repeatedly! Also, just down the hill is the town of Ojachal which offers a number of world class restaurants, which in Costa Rica isn’t easy to find.

Perfect Costa Sanctuary!

Just returned from Casa de la Roca. The property was just as advertised – only better! The house is furnished with every conceivable convenience one can hope for in a vacation rental – from the kitchen to the bedrooms, deck and facilities! Viewing the sunset from the pool/patio is stunning each evening. We made sure to be present each night as the sun made its descent. And … the mornings are a true delight as nature awakens to the new day. Birds, howler monkeys in the far distance, opening of the flowers as the sun makes its appearance starts each day with a new appreciation of mother nature. And the beaches – just a short drive away. We enjoyed playa Ventana and adventured into the caves as the ocean rushed through. Quite an experience! The tree lined beach makes it the quintessential tropical beach setting. We made many of our food purchases from the local vendors. We enjoyed fresh Mahi Mahi and shrimp from the Ojochal roadside fish monger - his catch fresh from the sea (Friday morning) and cooked on the house grill that night - plus fresh baked breads and pastries from the French bakeries in town. That’s when we wanted to cook! Don’t overlook any of the small restaurants and sodas in the area – just a few minutes from the house. El Castillo restaurant offers a unique cuisine each evening. Enjoy a special treat there. Speak with the chef and his staff. The menu differs each evening. Las Mangales (on the highway just south of Ojochal) is a fabulous soda for lunch. Our group can’t say enough good things about Casa de la Roca. Everyone involved with the property is helpful, and want to make your stay at the house the special get away you look for yet is hard to find. At Casa de la Roca – you’ve found it!!

Absolute Paradise!!

We loved our week in Costa Rica!! The local people of CR were welcoming, and we felt much safer than we have in Mexico. Casa de la Roca is an amazing property. Our family of five adults enjoyed the house, which had everything we could need for making some of our own meals. My husband and I sipped our morning coffee poolside listening to birdsong and marveling at the incredible ocean view every morning. This very private location does require 4 wheel drive to reach as we found on our arrival. Very steep gravel/boulder road up the driveway.....but that is why you get the unbelieveable views. Try Exotica for dinner early in your stay, you may want to go twice like we did. The mangrove boat tour near Osa was money and time very well spent. Thanks to Karen for picking up the breakfast goodies, and to Kieth for greeting us on our late arrival. If you are seeking paradise, you will not be dissappointed in Casa de La Roca!

Luxurious, safe and sunsets for days!!

We have visited this area many times and have stayed in many different villas from Dominical to Ojochal. Casa de la Roca is by far one of the nicest and most well equipped villas we have found in this area. Great security, great location, luxurious amenities and spactacular sunsets!! We have high expectations of quality and service and this property will not disappoint!! Keith and Karen were lovely and informative and were quick to accommodate us and make us welcome.

Perfection in Paradise

As a very long-time, experienced patron of vacation rentals, I can't begin to tell you how impressed I was with Casa de la Roca. You can certainly read the details about the property, but you can't really understand its true uniqueness and beauty until you've experienced it. Pictures do not do justice to the shear beauty of its setting. The property is lush, green, and manicured beautifully. It's perched on one of the highest positions in the area overlooking the Pacific with commanding, amazing views. The perfectly-sized, westward-facing infinity pool was the "place to be" late afternoon as the stunning sunsets painted the evening sky. Adjacent to the pool was a superb covered outdoor patio equipped with a dining table fit for eight individuals, and a few lounge chairs for the indulgently lazy afternoons where reading a good book was the most strenuous activity of the day. One of our favorite areas of the property was the upper deck, which sported a wonderful seating area, telescope (for wildlife viewing), and amazing 360-degree views around the property. We had coffee every morning, as well as retired our evenings every day, on the upper deck - watchful of the numerous toucans, parrots, and other wonderful wildlife within earshot. Finally, my wife and I are very particular about the cleanliness of the properties that we rent. I can confidently say that this was one of the most well-kept, spotless properties we've ever experienced. So, we rarely visit the same property twice; there's so many other wonderful places to visit in the world. However, Casa de la Roca is an exception. We're already planning our next trip a year from now and can't wait to indulge in the beauty, serenity, and uniqueness of Casa de la Roca, again. Thank you for sharing a little bit of perfection in paradise with us!

This house is absolutely stunning and completely perfect. View, amenities, pool...every detail.

Beautiful and comfortable home. We loved everything about this home, from the bamboo sheets and towels to the comfy seating in the lookout. The home has literally everything you need to make your vacation complete minus the food and the vehicle to get there! And it is an easy drive to the BM in either Uvita or Palmar Norte (my preference). Playa Ventanas is just a few minutes away and the long beaches of Marina Ballena are an easy, less than 30 minutes away. The home has everything... no it really does! Washer dryer, fully stocked kitchen that was an absolute joy to cook in, coffee grinder for us coffee snobs (stopped at Sibu in Uvita for freshly roasted beans, fantastic BBQ on the deck, big outside and inside dining tables, pool floats, a tv and DVD player (never used either one... why would you with Costa Rica outside?!). The view was breathtaking and the sounds from the jungle which is right there(!) were thrilling. This was easily the best vacation rental we've stayed in, every detail has been thought of and taken care of. The home was very clean, very welcoming. Karen from the property management company was very helpful but never intrusive - we just knew she was a text away. We only needed her once when we ran out of propane for the grill, and she took care of it fast and friendly. This was our second stay in Ojochal in 2 years. A great little community. We preferred the shorter drive up Avienda Principal with its river crossing than the longer, bumpier ride up Calle Bosque. We also prefer various local sodas to the high end dining options, but we always enjoy trips to the Bamboo Room for the entertainment and warm welcome. The grocery stores have fantastic produce and meat counters and flash frozen fish (red snapper) and shrimp which are easy to create gourmet meals with in the homes gourmet quality kitchen.

Heaven on Earth!

Casa de la Roca is by far the greatest get away in Costa Rica! We enjoyed spectacular sunsets, toucans and macaws, white face monkeys in the trees behind us, howler monkeys, a great mountain view and the best place in the world to relax. The house is even more stunning than the pictures you find on the website. We had everything we needed to cook with, however with all of the great restaurants within a 15 min drive we didn´t cook as much as we thought we would. I never would have thought in this lush beautiful jungle we could have everything we need within 20 mins. The beaches are gorgeous! The locals and expats were so friendly and accommodating. I can´t get back soon enough. Jan and Sonya our property managers drove us up to our place and made sure we had everything we needed. My hats off to the owners!

Fabulous home with a stunning view!

Our daughter and her husband accompanied us during our stay at Casa de la Roca, and we all enjoyed every moment there. A beautiful spacious home with top of the line everything, a fully equipped kitchen, ample space for us to roam, spectacular views of the ocean and jungle. Washer & dryer was handy to have. Pool was lovely with seating for swim up bar, pool accessories to enjoy too. Great having a car port for parking! Owners had a super movie library if you choose to have a movie night. Enjoyed many local restaurants, many which were a 15-20 minute drive away. Automatic security gate was nice to have. Would absolutely recommend this property to anyone traveling to Ojochal area and we would definitely stay here again! Thank you the vacation in your house!

Amazing Vacation Home

The pictures do not do this home justice. The home is stunning, with top of the line EVERYTHING, from the house to the pool, the back porch and the furnishings. We were blown away when we walked through the front door. We stayed here for 3 nights and didn't see another person anywhere around, the privacy is spectacular. We LOVED the view of the Pacific and could see the waves crashing on shore. If you are thinking of staying here, I promise you won't be disappointed. We will be coming back in 6 months to celebrate our 20 year Anniversary and have already started counting the days till we will be back in Costa Rica and the Casa de La Roca!!!!

Best Casa in Costa

Simply amazing and under sold. Like I told the home owner, The photographer should be fired! The pictures of this home do NOT do it justice. The other reviews are about the unbelievable landscape and views that surround the house(all true). I would like to tell you about the house itself. From the front entry to the pool is all tile, no thresholds, no transitions, even into the modern style walk in showers. Absolutely gorgeous hard wood vaulted ceilings. Stunning brushed nickel/stainless fixtures and dark granite counters throughout. Everything that you will need in the kitchen(everything). Pure water from a artisan well and an unnecessary UV filter for peace of mind. The furnishings are modern and overly comfortable. My wife actually wrote down the mattress name and demanded that we buy the same when we get home. Spacious home, large kitchen, large bedrooms, large bathrooms. Undeniable luxury and comfort. With all that covered, while you are there do not miss at least one dinner at Exotica. Don't think that you can get away with not having a 4x4 vehicle. Though the roads are well maintained, they are loose rock and very steep. In closing, enjoy your stay in Costa Rica, pamper yourself at Casa De La Roca.

Wonderful Vacation Getaway!

Awestruck upon arrival of the unbelievable views immediately seen as you enter Casa de la Roca’s front door. The home overlooks nature to the sea. Sunsets from the upper deck or by the pool were wonderus as were the views and sounds of the mountains to the east. Besides sunsets, this upper deck is a perfect quiet place to enjoy breezes while reading or meditating. My husband is an artist so he found himself taking himself ”up top” to sketch and paint. I practiced my daily yoga with these views and sounds, nirvana. We were able to see multiple types of beautiful butterflies including large blue ones, parrots in their natural habitat, toucans, hawks and hummingbirds of multiple colors right on the property. While others report seeing monkeys we didn’t but heard their calls daily in the distance. Casa de la Roca itself is very spacious, well laid out with bedrooms on either end of the home each with its own spacious bath. The bed was very, very comfortable with 5-star linens. I got the best sleep of my life here. The kitchen/great room/dining situated in the middle of the home is a well thought out space created to accommodate all guests. I am a hobby chef, enjoying to cook I found the kitchen well appointed, not lacking in any tool or dish I went searching for. It includes dual temperature wine cooler and a large grill. Don’t miss enjoying the outdoor shower and of course, the infinity pool is beautiful. Paul and Cindy have not left any stone unturned for you to enjoy your stay. Restaurants nearby were all delicious, one better than the other. Nightly entertainment at the Bamboo Room was fun! While staying we took a trip to the Baruca Village to view native art. This trip through the mountainous terrain had amazing vistas. Costa Rica is a beautiful country with beautiful people. I highly recommend a visit to this southern pacific coastal town of Ojochal and enjoy your relaxing stay at Casa de la Roca. We look forward to returning.

Great Stay

I cannot emphasize enough how spectacular sunset is from this house. Whether sitting on the porch, in the pool or up in the upper deck it is always spectacular. At night go out to the front of the house and soak in the stars in the pitch black sky. The house itself was comfortable and more than big enough and we were missing nothing to make our stay work well for us.Internet worked well, plenty of towels and beach towels, and a nice big grill outside. We heard the howler monkeys and saw tons of birds, including a whole bunch of toucans right in the side yard. The house is about a 20 minute drive up the hills from the nearest beach, but less than that to a bunch of great restaurants. The property managers are super helpful and as longtime residents super knowledgeable, and the owners are awesome too. My biggest regret is not taking more advantage of all of them while at the house, but hey, that's a pretty good vacation if that is my chief gripe. If you are looking for a place to sit outside in complete privacy and just soak up the views or watch the sunset after a day at one of a bunch of really neat beaches, or take an outdoor shower with killer views, or even a romantic getaway. this fits the bill.

A 5+ Star Gem in the Jungle!

7 years ago we fell in love with the amazing little jungle village of Ojochal, Costa Rica and this year we fell in love all over again when we stayed at Casa De La Roca! This beautifully landscaped villa is located up in the mountains above the Ojochal village and has a completely unobstructed, panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean, along with breathtaking mountain and jungle views. Monkeys, toucans and many types of colourful butterflies are just some of the wildlife we saw right on the property. The bungalow style was perfect for our family with a 2 year old and 6 month old baby just learning to crawl. With no stairs, this house would also be wonderful for those with mobility and accessibility issues. We enjoyed many sunsets from the massive outdoor terrace, and spent so much time in the infinity pool which has a retractable shade that was perfect for sun protection, if desired. The house is finished with 5 star hotel quality furnishings and linens and the kitchen comes so well equipped with everything you could possibly need. The beds are unbelievably comfortable. We had the best sleeps of our lives at this villa! The breathtaking, peaceful and quiet local beaches are just a short drive away, down the mountain road. A 4x4 vehicle is needed to get to the property. There are many fantastic restaurants in the area (El Castillo, Citrus, Exotica, Bamboo Room to name a few of our favorites). Ojochal is a pretty remote area, best suited for families and couples. I wouldn't recommend this area for younger groups looking for nightlife action/party scene. I would highly recommend staying at this villa, and we will most definitely be returning ourselves!
