Welcome to Casa Noel, tucked in the heart of historic Merida Centro. This beautiful colonial home is perfectly located less than two blocks from the many attractions of the Paseo Montejo and the Plaza Grande is an easy ten minute walk away. Three blocks from the house, enjoy the daily market at Santa Ana park. Every day, merchants serve up favorite local foods, souvenirs and services. Santa Ana is also home to numerous art galleries, featuring art in many forms from around the world with a focus on Mexican and Latin American artists.
Hiding behind the simple colonial facade, Casa Noel will quickly become your refuge from the busy city life. The tall entry doors reveal a view through the house to the central courtyard and from there to the rear garden. Traditional high ceilings and pasta tile floors combine with modern touches in a perfect blend of comfort and old Mexico.
The comfortable living room includes a flat screen HD television with cable and dvd player. The cable service includes English language news, sports and movie channels, along with extensive Spanish language selections. Casa Noel is also equipped with high speed wireless internet access.
A second living space is adjacent to the central courtyard, opening through the original wood archway to this bright and airy space. In the center of the house, this covered and screened center courtyard brings light and breezes to the living spaces. Sit here in the morning at the café table with your coffee and enjoy breakfast to the sounds of birds in the nearby trees.
The all new, much larger and modern kitchen opens off the central courtyard as well. Broad doors and windows bring in cooling breezes and light filtered through the courtyard plantings.
The dining room with seating for eight and fully equipped kitchen open onto a covered outdoor terrace leading to the gardens featuring a pool set amidst beautiful tropical plantings. A refreshing outdoor shower is located near the pool. Enjoy the sun in the garden surrounding the pool, or rest in the shade of the terrace.
The home includes three stunning bedrooms with 17 foot ceilings featuring the original pasta tile floors. New queen size beds, ceiling fans and air conditioning in each bedroom assure your comfort. The all new master bedroom features an en-suite bathroom with a delightful rainfall shower and dual sinks. The bedroom opens onto the quiet rear courtyard through high doors with a view of the pool and gardens, and offers complete privacy from the rest of the house.
Within a block of Casa Noel you will find multiple options for dining out, from a traditional cocina economica to various ethnic cuisines. Just two blocks away on Paseo Montejo you will find many restaurant and shopping options, along with several interesting museums. The daily Santa Ana market has a broad selection of meats, fresh fruits and vegetables, and a small supermarket is nearby as well.
Our local property manager speaks excellent English. She and her staff can arrange nearly any additional service you may need, including transportation, child care, travel information, shopping, massage or a cook. You may want the unique experience of a private cooking lesson for your party focused on local Yucatecan cuisine.
We invite your family to make our home your home in the beautiful colonial heart of Merida and the Yucatan peninsula.

Why Rex Noel chose Centro
Merida is truly authentic Mexico. The city itself and the surrounding countryside take us back to a more tranquil time when friends and family are more important than.... well, anything. The local people are warm, friendly and welcoming. We wander the streets at all hours in complete safety. And our time here leaves us relaxed and ready to face our busy lives again.
What makes this House unique
The location of Casa Noel is nearly perfect. On a quiet, bus free street, yet very close to so much of the city life that attracted us to Merida. The Paseo Montejo is just two blocks away with numerous restaurants and shops. Our local Santa Ana market offers a true Mexican shopping experience along with many of the services we have needed as homeowners and is just three blocks away. And we are within an easy 15 minute walk of the Plaza Grande yet discreetly removed from the noise and bustle of that area. And when you choose to remain home and relax, the quiet comfort of our home, gardens and outdoor living spaces will allow you to rest, refresh and recharge.

Perfect location and a great home at a great rate
We stayed for three nights with children and grandparents and the home exceeded our expectations! Andrea was very informative and responsive leading up to our trip, and Jesus met us after dark and took his time showing us the home and made it very clear he was available for any of our needs during our stay. It was impeccably clean upon arrival, and we had groceries waiting for us for a small fee. The house is a good size, with two adjoining bedrooms in the front. The walls stop short a few feet from the ceiling in these rooms so there wasn’t complete privacy (you could hear someone speaking if you were in the front of the home) but this was no issue for us and actually helped with ventilation and made the rooms feel even larger (they are both already big). The master is at the rear of the house and very secluded and private, a real sanctuary. The showers are warm at best and the pillows a bit thin, but for the price these were hardly noticed. The pool was lovely and made for a great cool off after being out and about. Just two blocks off the Paseo de Montejo and a short walk to the plazas and restaurants/cafes, this home is ideally located as it is adjacent to the action but not noisy as it is away from street noise. We had a dreamy Merida en Domingo morning, renting bikes two blocks away for $2 for 1.5 hours and then settling down to a patio brunch at Roses y Xocolate with a live jazz band, including a trumpet player who serenaded the passing cyclists on the thoroughfares closed to traffic. A two minute walk and we were cooling off in the pool before we resumed our afternoon in the center of town with dance performances and great food. It was like a travel show on TV, and the home played a main role.
If we were to return, which we will, we would absolutely stay here again. That sad feeling you get when you leave a great place on vacation? We felt it closing the door the last time at Casa Noel!
Beautiful, lots of room, and close to heart of Merida
We loved our stay at Casa Noel. Able to walk to Santa Ana, Paseo de Montejo, Santa Lucia, Santiago, and the main square. All within walking distance - so you have your choice of -, markets, shopping, ... basically anything you need. One of the best features of the house is the openness - fresh air, yet entirely screened, keeping out the dreaded mosquitoes that we've encountered in other properties.
Great place with excellent amenities.
Thank you very much Dan. We're glad you enjoyed your visit. It was great having you back.
Great location, beautiful house
Casa Noel is as beautiful as it looks in the pictures - very spacious and well-equipped with historical charm. We had a great stay there and found the team easy to coordinate with. The location is also great - easy walking distance to Plaza Grande, but also far enough away to be pretty quiet. Also, the pool in the back was a great feature for hot days. As others have noted, the house does lack privacy - the walls don't reach the ceilings in some (if not all) of the bedrooms. Some of the doors are also creaky and hard (read: loud) to close, so one person getting up at night can wake up others sleeping nearby. Also, just a warning that if you plan to run AC constantly, your bill will be much higher than ours was, which seemed slightly higher than rates in the U.S. All in all, I highly recommend Casa Noel - it is beautiful!
My husband, son, mother and I just returned from staying at Casa Noel for 8 days. The house is a lovely old colonial with spacious rooms, kitchen, and traditional pasta tiles. The house is long, with an open air courtyard which allows breezes to flow from one end of the house to the other. Most rooms have ceiling fans, and all the bedrooms have AC. My mother, who is 83, and uses a walker to get around could easily navigate the one level house.
The house really has everything you would need, as if it were your own home. We were able to host a small gathering of friends for dinner on two occasions while at the house. It also has a very nice pool to cool off in after some of the hot Merida days.
Casa Noel is located two blocks from the Paseo, a few blocks from Santa Ana square and a 10 minute walk to Plaza Grande where we took in the matinee at the symphony for $15/seat.
I highly recommend Casa Noel to anyone visiting or returning to Merida who is looking for a great place to stay.
Our home away from home
We truly enjoyed our experience at Casa Noel... it was our home away from home for a week. We are a family of 6 (4 kids under the age of 10). The house was very spacious for our large family. Our kids didn't want to come home. When we arrived the water wasn't working. However, the property manager immediately came to the house to assist and had a plumber to the house very quickly. The property manager was very quick to respond, which was much appreciated. We highly recommend staying at this home!
A beautiful colonial casa!
What a beautiful casa to stay in while we were vacationing in Merida! Emenities were perfect and we were very comfortable. Enjoyed being so close to the center of Merida and walked everywhere.
Kathy, thanks very much for you comments. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay. We think our location is nearly perfect for enjoying the best of Merida, and we are so glad our home met your expectations.
