Perfect island getaway for the family

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a week stay at the Pink Beach House, and we miss it already. For starters, the owner has done a fantastic job of providing a comfortable "home away from home" in paradise. Karen provided all the information we needed to plan a fun, first trip to the Caymans. The property was everything as advertised ... clean, well-appointed and charming. Karen has provided everything a family would need to enjoy their stay ... plush beach towels, snorkeling gear, reef shoes, pool toys and beach chairs. We spent our first day kayaking along the inside of the barrier reef and saw a spotted eagle ray within minutes of hitting the water. Our two young children -- ages 3 and 5 -- enjoyed splashing around in the pool, combing the beach for "treasures" and exploring the shallows along the shore. This is definitely a house for ocean lovers. And the location couldn't be better. The house is just a short drive to Rum Point which has a nice beach-front bar and grill, a sandy beach that's perfect for small children (and a great place to escape on a windy day) and boats that will take you out to Stingray City. Head the other direction to the East End, and you'll enjoy natural scenery you can't get on the crowded Seven Mile Beach. Be sure to check out two fantastic restaurants, Tukka and Eagle Ray's. At night, we sat on the beach and watched the moon rise over the coconut trees while sipping some of the island's small-batch rum. If you want to experience the Caribbean away from the crowds and noise, I couldn't recommend a better house to stay in. We're already looking at the calendar to see when we can come back.

Too nice to be true?

  • 5 of 5

The picture looks so ideal that my first suspicious thought was of all those other pictures of resorts that give a favorable but distorted impression. My daughter found this place after I suggested a conventional hotel. Quite a bit more expensive...but absolutely worth every penny! Our party was my daughter, son-in-law, their 3 and 5 year old children, and me, for 10 days.

First, the house. To sum up, we found the PBH to be just as idylic as the pictures. We all spent a lot of time in the pool, plenty on the beach, but not much on the reef, since we were scuba-diving elsewhere. We enjoyed watching the wildlife in the yard, and the little kids watched some movies. Facilities, kitchen supplies and amenities were first class, including a good stock of spices and condiments. Wish we had played with the kayaks more, but we were busy doing lots of other fun stuff. Can't improve on the house!

Location: Our private beach was just right; there was rarely anyone else in sight on the shore. We had no interest in Seven Mile Beach, overdeveloped for our taste. Rum Point and the eastern island have very nice restaurants, both fancy and kid-friendly, and my favorite dive shop is 20 minutes away. Stingray City, the bioluminescence tour, the botanical gardens/blue iguana conservation site are all very convenient. 5 minutes to a convenience store, 20 to the grocery, 40 to the airport, an hour to the turtle farm. "Stay left, Grampa!" Driving on the left was easier than I thought it would be.

Weather: sure enough, it was pretty hot and humid in July. But in the pool it made no difference, the wind was steady, there was very little rain, and we were conscientious and didn't get sunburned. The mosquitos came out promptly between 7:00 and 7:30, so we easily avoided them, and were able to get back in the pool later.

Support: The house was spick and span when we arrived. The owner had lots of contact with us before arrival, sent a ton of info, and responded promptly while we were there, when we accidentally messed up the wi-fi. The pool service showed up both Mondays.

I highly recommend the Pink Beach House, and would happily repeat this vacation.

Pink House Grand Cayman

  • 5 of 5

Our trip was fantastic and the house was great. So nice to have the kayaks, snorkeling gear, etc. The reef was fantastic behind the house and we saw lots of fish. Saw a big barracuda and a large tarpon. We also snorkeled at Rum point, cemetery beach, and Smith's Cove. Very cool to be able to go anywhere and feel safe. We went to a lady's house on the road across from Chisolms grocery and got fresh mangos and fresh squeezed mango juice. We did the bioluminescence tour and went to the turtle farm. We did all our eating at Rum point, Kaibo, and Over the Edge. All were great. Again - the vacation was fantastic and the house was a great location and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

The home is better than described on the website. Fantastic location, great snorkeling from the beach right out front. Would recommend renting a car to explore the island. We will be back.

Pink Beach House

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved the Pink Beach House. You could not ask for anything more. We were 3 couples and there was so much room. The 3 bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms were spacious and had beautiful views of the ocean. We loved having the pool and the ocean right there for us. You literally do not need to bring any beach towels or pool accessories (I particularly loved the float). We were impressed with all the amenities....the fully stocked kitchen, washer & dryer; games, movies, snorkel equipment, cooler, kayak.....were all so greatly appreciated. We had planned to go exploring, but found ourselves staying right there, because everything we wanted was right at our fingertips. We layed by the pool, walked the beach, and loved walking out on the sandbar and just enjoying the beautiful weather and waters. We even found many conch shells right in front of our beach house. The sunsets were breathtaking.

We loved the Lighthouse Restaurant. where we went on my birthday. The staff there were amazing. Our server Lucy was outstanding. They took a beautiful souvenir photo for us and Chef G brought it out. The food & the sunset view could not be beat. One of the people we came with is a chef at a local restaurant and he was so impressed with the meal. We would highly recommend going here.

One day we spent at Rum Point and we didn't want to leave, it was so beautiful and relaxing. The guys found a restaurant there and we made reservations for the next day. It was Rum Point restaurant. We had a great dinner there as well.

We will definitely go back and stay at the Pink Beach House again

Amazing house, perfect location, serene, peaceful, well appointed, I WILL BE BACK!

  • 5 of 5

The entire experience was wonderful. Karen makes booking easy with clear and frequent communication, easily accessible by email for any additional questions or information that you need. The house is perfectly situated near Rum Point, Kaibo bar/restaurant/beach, Starfish Point and an easy drive over to a few additional restaurants like Tukka and a dock bar. We spent most of our days lounging in the beautiful pool, snorkeling in our backyard, hunting for conchs, taking out the kayaks and relaxing in the sun. My 2 year old had the time of his life and still asks "we go Pink House?" all the time! We ate at the house about half of the time and used both the charcoal and the gas grill, found all the cooking utensils we needed and there were odds and end spices that made life easy. There is a nearby market for small needed items (expensive so do most of your shopping at Fosters near the airport) and they couldn't be nicer. We went to the Tuesday night beach BBQ at Kaibo mainly interested in the live music but the food was pretty good too, not a huge selection but good. You need reservations for this event. The Starfish beach is not to be missed, just drive over and park and walk down to the beach, it's BEAUTIFUL. Thank you for sharing your house with us - we will definitely be back, we loved it!
