About The Owner

The Freeman family lives in Orlando, Florida. We have relocated and now vacation at the beach! We love taking walks in the neighborhood and being able to walk to the marina and enjoy the stunning sun sets.

The Owner purchased this house in 2002

Why The Owner chose Orange Beach

We purchased the house as a weekend get-a-way and then loved it so much we moved there full time. It is a very open cottage with hard wood floors and ceilings. It is a quiet neighborhood walking distance to the marina, restaurant and bar and a place where everyone knows your name. The back bays are great for jet skiing, kayaking and traveling to great restaurants and bars by boat. Enjoy watching the dolphins and incredible sunsets. Neighborhood is great for walking and riding bikes, canoeing and kayaking, swimming pier and fishing.

What makes this house unique

We have Bicycles, Ocean Kayak, Stand Up Paddle Board, Surf Board and Beach chairs for you to use. Access to the neighborhood boat launch and we are also on the Orange Beach canoe trail. Biking and walking in the neighborhood as well as bike trails all over the island. Walk to Flipper's restaurant at the marina in the neighborhood for the best sunsets on the island. Less than 10 minutes to the Flora Bama. Directly across the bay from Pirates Cove for great burgers and the best Bushwackers anywhere.

Guestbook comments from the owner

What an incredible place to relax, have fun and close to everything!! If you love beach volleyball and spending time outdoors, this is the place.

Property is in a quite neighborhood, convienientlly located to all attractions.

  • 5 of 5

I booked this particular property because it met the needs of my husband and myself along with our 5 children (ages ranging between 4-15). We enjoyed our stay and found the location to be within easy driving distance of all area attractions. The house, itself, was comfortable and roomy, though not luxurious. The caretaker next door was very knowledgeable about the area and gave us great suggestions for dining, the best beaches, and even a rainy day suggestion. (This was a visit to the nearby National Naval Aviation Museum which my kids loved and even had free admission!) Cindy Freeman was a great owner to work with. She answered any of my questions promptly and was very accommodating, including a last-minute date change. This was my first time visiting the area and using VRBO, Just a side note: be sure to visit City Donuts!

Nice quiet neighborhood

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay very much. They had a lot of extras to take to the beach with you. the only bad thing I can say is there's one very small bathroom that we had to share with the whole family. Luckily we had other family staying in the area. It is a very nice place to stay along with all the extras and the yard has a very good play space. there is no central heat only window units however the house did say at a nice temperature. Just keep in mind the very small bathroom and no bathtub only showers. Not that that's a bad thing but it can be an inconvenience when you have six to seven people with you. I would recommend it and might book again someday 😊

Owner's Response: There is an outdoor shower as well - I always prefer the outdoor shower. In the winter I just use all hot water.

Adequate residence, convenient location

  • 3 of 5

The home was in good condition and clean upon arrival. The neighborhood is an interesting mix of high end new construction and older homes/trailers. It is convenient to the beaches, though not right on the beach. The kayak, paddle board, beach wagon, beach chairs, umbrella, bicycles and multitude of life vests were such a great amenity. We also enjoyed the corn hole and volleyball net on the property. We also really enjoyed the outdoor shower.

A few things were in disrepair for our stay, which was inconvenient, but manageable. One of the overhead lights in the bedroom was out and the other went out during our stay, which made the room very dark, only then lit by lamps and the light from the laundry room. There was also a light out in the kitchen and overall the home was somewhat dark, for activities like reading or doing a puzzle at night. The giant TV was awesome and a big hit with the kids. The lock/knob on the front door was broken upon our arrival on Saturday and a new one was reportedly ordered, to arrive Monday or Tuesday. It did not arrive until Thursday and then was installed on Friday.

Due to a miscommunication with the property manager, on Sunday, we locked the deadbolt on the back door when leaving and the key for the backdoor is only for the knob, not the deadbolt. We were locked out of the house and had to then have the entire knob on the front door disassembled to get back in. Thus, we did not have a way to lock the front door for the majority of our trip. The pullout couch in the bunkhouse was also not functional, thus reducing the sleeping options for our family of 6.

We took the golf cart out on Saturday night, after arriving to check out the neighborhood. When we went to use it on Sunday morning, it wouldn't start. Chris, the next door property manager worked on it for a few days and got it running again, but then my husband took it to the Alabama St. beach area and it wouldn't start to make the return trip.

None of these issues were "deal breakers" or ruined our vacation by any means, but were unfortunate inconveniences to have to deal with while on vacation.

Owner's Response: The smart lock on the front door has been replaced, new light bulbs installed and the golf cart is having a new carburetor installed.

Enjoyed our stay

  • 5 of 5

We were down for work so the neighborhood was very nice and quiet which was a definite plus! The property managers who live right next door were really great and helped us out with anything we needed. Even though we didn’t have much time to do anything, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
