The house was clean, the kitchen well equipped and I appreciated the attention to detail - paper towels, soap, shampoos, facial tissues, etc. My host replied promptly to questions and went over and above with accommodations. This was a wonderful place to stay!

We had a wonderful and blessed stay and we're in town for a convention and Kay was so attractive for whatever we needed and remended several Restaurants it's was wonderful that she was making sure that we were fine and if needed anything not to hesitate ask will stay there again.
Kay was gracious, helpful, and communicative. Her house is lovely. I appreciated the location and respite that Kay's home provided to me and my family during a difficult time.

Caren was a splendid guest. She is thoughtful and considerate, very responsible in her care of the property and communicates effectively, in a friendly manner. We would be delighted to welcome her again and recommend her highly to any other hosts.
A 5-star stay! The host was incredibly welcoming, the house was sparkling clean, and the location was convenient for our needs (near airport and 390). The neighborhood is near the beautiful Genesee Valley Park and University of Rochester campus, but just be aware that it is probably safer to park at the lot on Elmwood Ave and Moore Rd rather than walk across (the sometimes busy) Scottsville Rd.
Comfortable stay, easy access from Interstate. Had many thoughtful touches like games. Kitchen small but had everything we needed. Second stay for son's family, first for us. Kay excellent communications. Appreciated dimmers on some light switches.

Delighted to know that you enjoyed your stay at the Craftsman Cottage, Karen! Thank you for being responsible and appreciative guests. We pay constant attention to this home, to ensure that it is indeed a place of comfort and charm as a home base for short term visits to the city.
Our family was originally drawn to Rochester by it's facilities for the deaf, especially the NTID within RIT. But even after our family member had moved on from the school, we found that there was opportunity and endless enjoyment in living in this city. Starting our short term rental business has only increased that enjoyment, as we work to make the experience of every guest a great one. By now, hundreds of reviews confirm we are meeting that goal, but we are still looking for new ways to give our guests a wonderful experience in Rochester.
Why they chose this property
We have lived in the 19th Ward of Rochester for well over 20 years now. We've watched it rise from the post-Kodak city-wide decline, to the point where now it is a sought-after neighborhood. The tree-lined streets, the beautiful houses, the friendly neighbors, easy access to the city center and anywhere else, the depth of history in the city and the area, the museums, the music of Eastman, the Lilac Festival in Highland Park, the endlessly picturesque vistas as we walk along the Genesee River Trailways system - the list of what we enjoy is really endless.
What makes this property unique
The Craftsman Cottage is a genuine period home with almost all of those period details still intact. It has not been chopped up or remodeled, although we have done gut renovations of the kitchen and the full bathroom, while leaving the original woodwork intact. It is a small, truly charming home that draws you in, the moment you enter. Over the last five years of doing short term rentals of the house, hundreds of guests have written reviews about enjoying the charm and the atmosphere of the house during their stay. We take meticulous care of it, to ensure that every guest has that same enjoyment!
