A great space for a family of 6, plus a 7 month old and a dog. This was a fantastic base from which to explore West Cork and Kerry. We really enjoyed our 10 day stay. Highlights included going to Barley Cove beach and Mizen Head. Richard was quick to respond to any queries we had.
We stayed at Richards property in mid-March 2024. 6 adults and a very active 3-year-old grandson.
The house itself was just fantastic, perfect for our needs. Trust me when I say the pictures on the website really don’t do it justice. If you are thinking of booking this property, you will not be disappointed.
The property is close enough to Bantry town centre to walk into if you so wish. We used the property as a base to explore West Cork, which is without doubt one of the most beautiful parts of the world you will ever see.
Richard was very helpful with recommending local place to eat, events and places to explore.
All rooms very spacious allowing for teens and adults to do their own thing. Downstairs en-suite bedroom was very useful and the house had everything we needed. A great location being a short stroll into town with good restaurants, bars and shops, lovely quayside and a walk around Bantry House gave stunning views. a great holiday all in all.
We had such a wonderful stay in this gorgeous home . There is absolutely everything you could need and more ,fantastic range of entertainment of all sorts and plenty of space for 6 adults in 4 bedrooms. Richard and Pat were very helpful . Thank you so much .
House good. Owner and housekeeper very friendly and helpful.
Kitchen very well equipped. A couple of small things would have made our stay even better.
1. Chest of drawers needed in downstairs bedroom
2. More comfortable seating in lounge (6 adults, only 5 seats)

Fantastic house and location.Highly recommend.Suitable for families with young children/just adults.
This was our second visit to this property. The house is well equipped with everything you could want. Certainly home from home. The key holder contacted us before we travelled to confirm where everything was and to pre-warn us about roadworks that were taking place in the area so that we could take an alternative route. The house meant that everyone could wander into town when they wanted. The house is within walking distance of Bantry town. The games room is well equip and kept the teenagers, and adults in our group entertained! Well appointed and spacious. Big thanks to Richard, Pat and Mary! We are sure to be back again and would certainly recommend this property as an ideal family base for visiting Bantry and the surrounding areas.

Bantry Bay escape
Three couples, all veterans of Ireland travels, shared this home in Bantry. There are 2 ensuite bedrooms and two other bedrooms that share a bathroom. The bedrooms were al;l large and comfortable. The fireplaced living room had seating for 6 adults. The very large playroom had a pool table and foosball as well. The eat-in kitchen was spacious with lots of counter space. The separate laundry room was very helpful. The house did not have wifi which was a problem for us. The owner says he is installing it this week. If so that solves a problem for travelers. The walk to town is easy but is uphill on the way back to the house. Our favorite pub in town was The Snug which served very good food. We explored the peninsulas, took a day trip to Kinsale, and played golf at the Bantry Bay Golf Club. It is a very pretty course along the bay and the fees were very reasonable. Golfers should definitely play there. We enjoyed the house and the area. The drive to Shannon Airport was about 3.5 hours. I would recommend this house for groups as large as 8 people. It was perfect for the 6 of us.

Really nice property, walking distance to Bantry
Well recommended, five minutes walk into town for pub's,restaurant's and shop's. Nice and clean house with everything you need, load's of thing's to do nearby within walking distance, or a good base for trip's out by car, without being too isolated. Owner very helpful and only a phone call away for any problem's if needed. Their were seven in our group ranging from teenager to pensioner and everyone had a great time. Would definitely go back, no hesitation's, and if you have got to the stage of reading the review's just book it and look no further.

We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay there at this excaellent venue. The house was spotlessly clean and well up to the description of it. It was well maintained and the owner provided good customer service. He made sure that we settled in well. Electric light bulbs that needed replacement were dealt with promptly.
We would definitely recommend this property for its high standard and its easy reach of Bantry town.
Lovely large house, plenty of space of everyone. Easy walking distance to town which was huge benefit as traffic was awful in town due to road works. We were blessed with the Heat Wave and Bantry is easy driving distance to beaches and piers to paddleboard from but an outside grill, bbq would have been nice.. just too hot to cook. Wonderful gateway location to West Cork, Kerry area. Loved our stay.
The house was perfect for our group of adults. Very spacious accomodation for our group . Kitchen is very well equipped with everything needed for the week. Lovely garden with decking to the front with outdoor table and chairs. Walking distance to town , and only a few minutes walk to nearest grocery shop. This was so convenient if we forgot something and needed it right away. Very secure property , with other properties close by but not overlooking nor obstructing views. Lots to see and do in Bantry and many scenic drives, tourist attractions in all directions. Our favourite spots were ahakista drive and Tragumna beach. ( watch the Sat nav on this one as we were let to Tailispin Beach by Sat nav).Search instead for Trag beach. Beautiful soft white sand , clear waters and ....a life guard on duty.
This property is even better than all the reviews can possibly imply. Excellent position and really only 5 to 7 minutes to town ! Top communication from manager Pat and owner Richard. Spotlessly clean on arrival with plenty of accommodation and space for our group of 5 . Would easily accommodate 8 . Super large and well equipped kitchen. Warm.
Bantry is a really relaxed town . All the shop and restaurant staff very friendly courteous and a lot of good humour. Good family restaurants. Good challenging golf course. Plenty of interesting walkways.
Yes this house is all that any group could ask for. We really enjoyed our week’s stay , even if the weather was a little inclement. One of the best houses that I have visited.
We stayed in August, 2 families- 4 adults, 3 children under 4.
Extremely clean and well kept property.
All amenities thought of, we were very happy and comfortable for our entire week there. Very easily accessible to the town and all attractions are an easy drive away. Richard the owner and Pat are very helpful and easily contactable.
Would definitely stay again.
This property is one of the best I have ever stayed in. There is plenty of space and there is a lovely airy feeling in the house. The kitchen comes with everything you could possibly need with a large utility room complete with washing machine & dryer. We had 2 teenage boys with us and they loved their own space in the large room with pool table and football table.
There is 2 double bedrooms with their own en-suites and 2 bedroom with queen beds and 1 fold up single bed in one of the rooms.
There is a wooden deck with table and chairs at the front of the property which was great as the sun was there for most of the day/evening.
It took only 5 mins walk into Bantry town. An ideal base for touring around areas like Glengarriff, Barely Cove, Schull, Sheeps Head, the Beara Way and many other places of interest.
Thanks to Pat who was so accommodating to us during our visit and gave us some great tips.
I would not hesitate to recommending this house to anybody. Thanks for letting us book Richard. It is a credit to you.
From the minute we booked communication with Richard was very efficient. House is very spacious, 8 of us and we all had lots of space. Everything we needed to make our holiday enjoyable. Easy walking distance to shops and restaurants.
Thanks Richard, pat and Anne Marie for the warm welcome and great stay. We Will return.
House is well located, 5 - 7 min walk to the town.
4 well proportioned bedrooms, 2 en-suite so plenty of room for our party of 7.
WiFi is a bit patchy but we weren’t using it much as were out and about most of the time.
We have just returned from a fantastic week in Richard's house in Bantry. Both Richard and Pat were so welcoming and easy to deal with
The house itself is fantastic, bright, airy spacious and really well equipped. Comfy beds, great bathrooms and a kitchen to die for. My husband and I were joined on our trip by our three adult sons and their girlfriends plus our cockapoo also travelled!! Space was no prob, there was room for everyone.
Bantry is a gorgeous little town, great places to eat, have coffee, lovely shops and brilliant walks. However I have to say Bantry's greatest asset is it's people. We felt so welcome, every single person we met was friendly and chatty. We were given great advice on what to do, where to eat, what walks to do etc great advice which coupled with staying in such a fantastic house made for a brilliant first post Covid holiday. Thank you Richard and Pat, we will hopefully see you again next year.
Glorious week with my teenagers and dogs in this immaculate, spacious and comfortable house perfectly located just above Bantry town. We got the weather which did help as there are numerous places to visit, swim, eat and explore! The photos don’t do the house justice- massive master bedroom and 3 showers so no queues. All in house conveniences. Couldn’t fault it. Would highly recommend.
Amazing house, very spacious. Enough room for everyone to be comfortable. The house was spotless clean on arrival. Great location, only a few minutes walk from Bantry town. We had our two dogs with us as well and it was perfect for them.
Richard and Pat were very easy to deal with, very friendly and helpful
Pat the property manager contacted me at home in Canada before our trip started. He asked if we had any questions or requests and also gave instructions on the route from Cork to the front door of the property. That’s above and beyond and he also came to the property at the beginning of our stay to ensure everything was going well. Great service from a really good ambassador. The house didn’t disappoint. Four bedrooms with one of these on the ground floor and four showers, which comes in handy when everyone is getting ready at the same time. There’s lots of space and three separate areas to hang out in the house so nobody was feeling squished. Bantry is a great little town with lots of places to eat and drink. It’s within walking distance of the house, but for a five Euro cab ride, why walk? (On you way back from one of the pubs, just ask the driver to take you to Richard Dix’s house. He’ll know the way!!). The scenery is fantastic everywhere, just allow plenty of time for travel. Most of the local roads have a 100kph speed limit. That’s just a cruel joke because most of the time you’ll be doing about half that speed. Overall the house and the town of Bantry was a great experience. I would definitely recommend it to everyone.
