Canoeing down the Russian River is a summer time favorite from Healdsburg to Guerneville. The Healdsburg Square also offers fine dining, eclectic shopping and wine tasting shops.
To the West you will find some of the best Pinot noir wineries in the U. S., also artisan cheese makers and gourmet olive oil producers offering their unique products. A return trip from the coast heading north on Highway 1 will find numerous waterfront restaurants serving locally harvested oysters, other seafood and of course libations

What makes this Cottage unique
In September we harvest our Montepulciano grapes and you can participate in the harvest but we have no control over Mother Nature in ripening the grapes, typically harvest is Mid-September. We host a harvest breakfast, then into the vineyard for picking, then off to the winery to de-stem, sort, crush, and watch the wine maker start the fermentation of the grapes. After crush the winery hosts a lunch. We offer guest in-season fresh fruits, vegetable, citrus and herbs for your personal enjoyment from our gardens. In season we have: peaches, pears, apples, red and green seedless grape, artichokes, figs, lemons, limes. oranges, figs, persimmons, pomegranate, salad tomatoes, hot and sweet peppers, carrots, strawberries, garlic, celery, lettuce, onions, rosemary, thyme, chives, tarragon, sage, bay leaf, oregano, and more.

Excellent location; Wonderful Hosts!
What a great experience! Went for a weekend of wine tasting and couldn't have been happier with the accommodations and the location. John and Pamela were excellent hosts -- we took them up on a number of wine tasting/restaurant recommendations and all of them were spot on -- VJB, Salt & Stone, Garden Court Cafe, etc -- 3 our favorites. Even made a trip to Russian River Brewing Co! Highly recommend the Kenwood Casita if you are planning a trip to Sonoma!
perfect in every way...location...the accommodation...the owners
the property was immaculate inside and out...the setting was beautiful...to top it off the owner left me a variety of citrus fruits growing on the property...and it was january!!! will be back...
My husband and I stayed at the Casita for our honeymoon and could not be more pleased with our rental choice. John and Pamela were excellent, inviting hosts and made us feel very welcome. They truly made our experience in Sonoma Valley more special than we imagined.
We planned to cook a lot of our meals and the Casita kitchen was fully equipped with all of the cookware and utensils we needed. John even left fresh veggies from their garden on our patio each day and invited us to pick whatever we needed. The pool was open during our stay and was very refreshing to dip our toes after a long day out and about.
The location of the Casita was perfect for us! It is nestled in the country with breathtaking views, but yet just a quick ride down the road to the city of Sonoma, or up to Santa Rosa and the Russian River Valley area. We did a few days of wine tastings using Uber to travel around and never had any issues finding a timely and affordable ride. There are so many great wineries nearby that offer amazing tasting experiences and world class wines.
You can't go wrong with the Kenwood Casita and all that comes with it! Thanks John and Pam!
Beautiful place, close to everything
We spent 2 perfect nights at the casita, this place was just perfect for us- the pool, the garden, the proximity to nature and hikes and of course splendid wineries, really made our gateway perfect. John and Pamela are terrific hosts and their place is simply beautiful and relaxing
Beautiful, serene, great location!
We came here for a surprise birthday trip and this little house/cottage was amazing. I am not big on staying at places like a B&B or something like that, but even though this place is right next to Jon and Pamela's house, I still felt like I had privacy and the ability to relax. It sits at the foot of the mountains and very quiet and peaceful. It is located near a few good wineries and only a short 30-45 minute drive to Napa. This was nice because the traffic in Napa is awful and staying here in Kenwood, we didn't have to deal with any traffic. There was a little covered carport which was nice. Even though we didn't use it, there is a heated pool which is very nice and well maintained. Just an amazing location and all around great experience!!! If you are in this area, this is a must stay!! Jon and Pamela and some of the nicest people you could ever meet. Very accommodating and helpful with anything we needed it questions we had. Thank you both for your hospitality!!! We will stay here every time we come out to the area!!
A serene retreat in the heart of Sonoma wine country
The owners have a wonderful property which is fully equipped for any length of stay. The accommodation and surrounding gardens are truly a tonic for relaxation. John and Pamela are very welcoming and provided a wealth of information on activities and dining in the area. All in all a great experience for us and a destination that we plan on visiting again in the future.
