The lake house was beautiful and had plenty of room. It was missing things for the fishermen. It did not have an area for cleaning fish and that’s the main goal for our vacation in Birchwood. We had to put the fish guts in a shed and with the heat, well you can imagine the stench. Also, the house does not have central air or air conditioners.

Thank you so much for staying with us and for taking such great care of the lake house. Our cleaning team shared that the home was left in wonderful condition, and we truly appreciate that.
We are glad to hear you found the lake house beautiful and spacious, and we also appreciate your feedback regarding fish cleaning. While there is a public fish cleaning station just a few blocks away at the boat launch, we understand that having an option at the home would be helpful for fishing groups. We are adding a dedicated fish-cleaning setup and a freezer for fish remains so future guests have a better option during their stay.
Had we known there was an issue during your visit, we would have been happy to help right away or pick up anything that needed to be removed. We always want guests to feel comfortable reaching out during their stay so we can address concerns as quickly as possible.
The lake house does not have central air, which we do note for guests ahead of time, but we do our best to keep the home clean, comfortable, and well-prepared for each stay.
Thank you again for your feedback and for caring for the home so well during your visit.
Beautiful and spacious home with all needed amenities. The furniture and beds were comfortable and the kitchen well stocked. It’s nestled in the woods on the lake. Beautiful! I would love to return.
What a great, relaxing, place! We loved our morning coffee on the deck while overlooking the lake. Then watching the sunset by the bonfire pit. The stars were amazing! We sat out on blankets watching the dark sky. We enjoyed exploring the 2 lakes, and watching the wildlife.
The house was bigger than we expected and the back yard was ample! We spent a lot of time out on the water, the dock and around the firepit. Wood was provided which we didn't expect, so we brought our own. The grill was great...propane was included, the kitchen was well-stocked with nearly everything you'd need, including small appliances. We appreciated the 2 kayaks and paddles that were available. We had read the reviews in advance and brought our own portable A/C units and they kept the house around 74, which was good since we had nearly 90 outdoor temps! The sunsets were amazing and lots of wildlife to see!
My husband and I, along with our adult kids recently spent 3 nights here over the 4th of July holiday. Overall, the property was very nice but it was lacking in a couple significant areas. The positive: the main floor has lots of seating with lovely furnishings, was neat & clean, had a large bathroom & a well-stocked kitchen. The views of the lake were very pretty, extra camp chairs were provided, the lake was lovely & nice-sized, and the property was located close to various bars, restaurants, etc. The cons: the biggest issue we had was that when we booked, we failed to take note that this home does not have air conditioning. This proved to be a big problem as it was humid with temperatures in the upper 80’s-low 90’s. The few ceiling fans & one oscillating fan the home had were insufficient to make it comfortable. We ended up going into town and buying an additional fan to use but it really didn’t help much. Sleeping was tough. In addition, the basement is mostly unfinished and that is where the 3rd bedroom is located. The basement and the bedroom felt damp and smelled musty due to the humidity. The daughter that stayed down there noted that all her clothes felt damp when unpacking at home upon her return. A couple more minor tweaks that would be helpful would be removing the kitchen carpet and replacing it with an easier to clean, more “kitchen-friendly” option and also providing grill tools. Overall it was a very nice property but needs some important upgrades.

Hi Shari,
Thank you so much for being our very first guests and for your thoughtful review. I’m glad to hear you found the home clean, well-furnished, and enjoyed the lake views and local spots — it really is a special place, and we appreciated having your family there over the holiday.
I also want to thank you for the constructive suggestions. I understand how the heat over the 4th made things uncomfortable, and I’m already working on ways to better communicate the cooling setup and improve airflow during hot spells. We’ll also be addressing the dampness in the lower level and updating a few household items based on your feedback.
It’s important to me that all guests feel both welcomed and well cared for, so I truly appreciate you taking the time to share both the highlights and the areas we can improve. Wishing you a wonderful rest of the summer!
Warmly,
Jess Bowers
