Went to visit the mermaids at Weeki Wachee. Met our needs overall. Better than a hotel!

  • 4 of 5

Pros: Plenty of room in the house, we all loved the layout of separate bedrooms and bathrooms on each side. 2 families could easily fit. Had the super nice pool house to ourselves which included toys and floats. The house sat alone at the beginning of the property. Lots of animals around (we saw a wild hare and box turtle) the owners have a nice farm for their animals. Mere minutes away from most stores, restaurants and groceries.

Cons: Wifi and satellite were extremely basic and very slow. We did visit on rainy/cloudy days and didn't get good reception inside the house. Driving to the property was a bit iffy at first glance but the property itself was nice. Pool house is sidewalk adjoined to the owners house (you have to walk through their covered carport area).

If you're looking for privacy you might contact the seller to see if other guests are renting on the same property as they also have an apartment they rent.

The property owners are very nice and have a beautiful place.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review, you are a very friendly, lovely family and I am glad you had a nice visit. Being surrounded by 44,000 acres of state forest does limit our internet service, satellite is the best we can offer and service does get interrupted at times during a summer thunderstorm, nearly everyday this month, but that is the compromise we make for living in the country. Thank you again for choosing to stay on our farm. Debbie

Absolutely beautiful

  • 5 of 5

I can't say enough about how at home I felt these last 3 days. The owner, Debbie, showed us around the farm. I live on a farm, so it made me feel like I was home. House is away from main home, so it felt nice to have our own space. Lots of parking. House is extremely clean, all tile floors. I really liked the fact they had 2 fridges. Made it nice for all 7 of us that stayed. Plenty of towels. Having the washer and dryer was nice , so we didn't have to bring home dirty clothes. Home is everything and more. Difiently would come back. Thank you Debbie👍?

Very Clean and plenty of space

  • 5 of 5

I loved it, a little further from the boat ramps than I anticipated but the house was VERY clean and equipped with everything I needed. The owner is amazing and so sweet! She was always there if we needed anything and went above and beyond to help us with whatever we needed!!

Peaceful getaway

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a relaxing time at White Rooster Farm. Debbie was a wonderful host. We thoroughly enjoyed the animals, especially the horses. The area has a lot to offer, including well-maintained bike trails and manatee watching. We hope to make it back again someday in the near future.

Loved our time at White Rooster

  • 5 of 5

Originally booked this charming home for a family high school graduation gathering. Although I have a daughter that lives in the area, I thought a little extra space to accommodate any overflow might be helpful. I am so glad I did! Yes, it did help with a few of my grown children to stay, but even more, the great energy of the space, the wonderful demeanor of it's proprietress Debbie, the fun of waking up to horses in the yard, and the indoor pool enjoyed so much by my grandchildren was well worth the reasonable price. The main house is very ample. The kitchen is large with good work space. The dining room table was perfect, and there are couches right in the open space for overflow if needed. The beds were comfy, and the two bathrooms were a welcome addition. Parking is no issue. I am looking forward to my next "just because" stay there. If you need to stay in this area, this is a great option.

Citrus county offers something for everyone. With miles and miles of rivers and waterways leading to the Gulf of Mexico there are endless activities for all ages. Biking, boating, snorkling, diving, fishing, airboating, scalloping, swimming, rafting, and kayaking just to name a few. My favorite thing I did was swimming with the manatees. They are the only wild mammal I know that seem to enjoy human contact. One of the laws is that a person cannot swim toward a manatee but that is not necessary since they just swim up to you. I would recommend going with a guide that tells you what you need to know, provides wetsuits and is knowledgable about manatees. Our guide also filmed us underwater and the purchased video makes a great memory. If you prefer dry land, the Withlacoochee State Forest has more than 44,000 acres of old wild Florida to explore. There are horse trails, hiking and birding trails, old caves to explore and even an old ghost town. We also have a paved bike and walking trail that is 48 miles long. Most of the local bike trail heads are within 20 minutes from the farm. The trail is part of the rails to trails system and passes through the very historic and quaint towns of Inverness and Floral City. The trail is mostly tree lined and passes by parks and old Florida farms and ranches. If shopping and antiquing makes you happy we have plenty of that too and while you're at it visit the flea markets and farmers markets on the weekend. In the evenings after dinner go dancing or watch a live performance at one of the local theatres.
