Cozy S Arlington duplex on quiet, tree-lined street - but close to everything!
Won't you be our neighbor - at least for a little while? This sunny, cheerful, thoughtfully-appointed home has everything you need for a short visit or a long stay in Arlington, VA. This home comfortably sleeps four, but can accommodate a crib as well. We love well-behaved pets, but we charge an additional cleaning fee just to make sure any future guests with allergies feel welcome, too.
The first floor features a living room, dining room and fully-appointed kitchen with dishes, coffee maker, toaster, and all new appliances, including a convection range (there are convection-compatible pots and pans ready to use). There are two bedrooms and a full bath on the second floor. The large bedroom includes a queen-sized bed, hand-made antique dresser and closet. The small bedroom includes a twin-sized daybed and a twin-sized trundle with a floating desk, tall dresser and closet. Washer, dryer and storage is available in an unfinished basement.
The property features off-street parking and a large front yard with a raised-bed herb garden and lockable bike shed. There is a smaller fenced back/side yard with a pet- and pollinator-friendly garden. A picnic table is nestled under flowering trees with solar-powered string lights and easy access to the kitchen - perfect for outdoor dining.
Our quiet, tree-lined neighborhood is diverse, affirming, and kid-friendly. But we're also right around the corner from bustling Columbia Pike, with walkable access to schools, playgrounds/parks, library, shops, and restaurants.
We are close to the National Foreign Affairs Training Center (1.6 miles), Fort Myer (1.4 miles), the Pentagon (2.6 miles), Ballston Metro (2.1 miles) and Clarendon Metro (1.9 miles). Our street is on a dedicated "bike boulevard" and we have secure bike storage and a bike to lend. If biking's not your thing, there's regular bus service right around the corner to the Pentagon/Pentagon City, National Landing, Clarendon, and direct to downtown DC.
The home is filled with family heirlooms and pieces collected by us, our friends and our family during various international adventures. We've tried to be as ethical and climate-friendly as possible in updating and furnishing the house - and we're especially excited about the solar panels that are able to supply most of the electricity you'll use!
Your hosts live in the neighborhood and are available to address any issues or questions as they arise, or just to loan a cup of sugar or give a restaurant recommendation. We are so excited to welcome you!

We had a wonderful stay. The rental exceeded our expectations. The beds were comfy, the house clean, and it was so nice to have a washer and dryer. It was super nice to have a simple kitchen for cooking and a coffee pot! The host was prompt with our needs and extremely helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

Thanks so much for the kind review. It sounded like you guys kept busy and had tons of fun - I'm glad the duplex offered a nice place to rest and relax at the end of the day. :)
We so enjoyed our stay, it was our home away from home as we were having renovations done on our house. Liz was a wonderful host. Loved the special touch of fresh flowers and the informative and charming guide book.Highly recommend!

Thanks for the guest book shout out! I spent probably a little more time than necessary on that particular project so I'm glad you liked it. :) We loved having you and are happy that you found some respite here from the construction chaos.
I loved this cozy pet friendly duplex. The host was wonderful and was available whenever I had a question or request. The kitchen was a highlight for me as it was small but fully equipped with brand new stove and refrigerator.I will definitely be staying here again in the near future.

Awww, thanks! It was so nice having you guys here.
Easy communication, stayed 19 nights, very comfortable and top notch kitchen gear!! Lovely decor, comfortable beds. Only consideration would be to folks who can’t do steps/stairs, the only bathroom is upstairs.

We so enjoyed having you guys here. Thanks for the kind review!
Very clean. It had almost everything we needed. There was no hair dryer, which was unexpected. I hadn't packed one as I've been used to one always being provided.

About the host
Hosted by Liz R
Arlington is our hometown, but we love traveling. We've tried to make this property the kind of place where we'd want to stay if we were visiting DC. We hope you'll feel at home here!
Why they chose this property
South Arlington is a fun, quirky suburb of DC, with lots of different restaurants and grocery stores. We love being able to run around the corner for an ice cream or a boba tea or some fantastic sushi or even authentic Neopolitan pizza - and then come home to a beautiful, quiet garden under huge oak trees and watch the birds and the bunnies. We've lived here for ages, and are so lucky to be part of this amazing community.
