The artist’s den was a good place to stay for a wedding in Huntington, NY. The hosts were very responsive. It is a basic place with a great shower. The bed was a bit too hard for our liking.
Our stay at the Artist's Den was very comfortable. Both Yvonne and Michael were immediately responsive to any questions that we had. For example, my brother from the state of Maine came down for 3 days to assist with our sister who lives in Manhattan. Yvonne made the adjustments to our rental agreement immediately so he could stay with us. This location is perfect - because of the closeness to the Long Island Railroad station, the 4 trips into Manhattan were very easy! In addition, we went to our nephew's wedding and were only 5 minutes away. This was a pleasant and peaceful stay. Thanks very much!!!
I have yet to write a negative review about any of the rentals I’ve stayed in, but this one shouldn’t be on VRBO or any rental site. I won’t discuss the stinky air fresheners all over, the Dorito bag in the bed, or the grimy dated nature of the place… but I do feel the need to share how this should NOT be a rental and how terribly inconsiderate the ppl living upstairs are. You stay in a glorified basement and the host and crew or whoever lives upstairs decided to come home at 12 AM and stomp as loud as they possibly could as well as yell for at least a half an hour until I asked the host to help me out. The host told me that they just got in and that sorry they will quiet down at 12 AM. The noise and the stomping continued until 1230. I had a work event the next day and have to drive 4 1/2 hours after and I needed sleep. I essentially got a couple hours of sleep. The stomping started again at 5 AM. It was so loud that my friend who slept in the living room, thought that people were coming inside of the rental. I could hear actual conversations being had without even yelling, word for word. This was by far the worst rental experience I’ve had and like I said I have never written a bad review about a rental that I’ve stayed in, but this takes the cake and left me so frustrated. You should not be using this as a rental or create a sound barrier… AND also be considerate of the people downstairs. Never ever again will I stay here.

For the benefit of future guests, several statements in this review require clarification.
This is not a “glorified basement.” The listing accurately describes the space as a private lower-level accommodation with its own entrance, bedroom, living area, kitchenette, bathroom, and dedicated guest space. The photos, description, and house rules are provided so guests can evaluate the property before booking.
We also strongly disagree with the comments about cleanliness and the condition of the space. The property is cleaned and inspected before every stay, with fresh linens, towels, and essentials prepared for each reservation. No cleanliness concerns were reported to us during the stay. Had anything been brought to our attention, we would have addressed it immediately.
The accommodation is intentionally presented as a cozy, private retreat, not a newly built luxury hotel suite. The listing photos accurately reflect the layout, furnishings, and style of the space.
Regarding noise, this is a two-unit property, and the listing discloses that another residence is located above and that occasional sound transfer may occur. When the guest contacted us shortly after midnight, we responded promptly and contacted the upstairs residence to address the concern.
We respectfully disagree with this review’s characterization of the property and our hosting. Everything about this review is inaccurate. We encourage future guests to review the listing, photos, amenities, and prior guest feedback to determine whether the space is the right fit for their stay.
My wife, little one and I needed a place to stay to attend a wedding at “The Mansion at Oyster Bay”. The space was well kept, comfortable, and very conveniently located. The hosts were present at check in and very communicative throughout our stay. We had a little hiccup and they handled it very well. I highly recommend staying at Yvonne and Michael’s house.
We enjoy creating comfortable, thoughtfully prepared spaces where guests can relax, recharge, and feel at home. Whether you’re visiting for a wedding, business trip, weekend getaway, or to spend time with family and friends, we strive to provide a clean, welcoming, and stress-free experience.
We’re local hosts who are responsive and available if you need assistance, recommendations, or have questions during your stay. Our goal is simple: to help make your visit comfortable, enjoyable, and memorable.
