Carolyn and I were highschool sweethearts. Southeastern Oklahoma residents virtually all of our lives. She a farmer's daughter and me a traveling salesman's son, no joke! We have two grown sons, an attorney in Denver and a Veterinarian in Oklahoma. Carolyn a teacher, and I a businessman, are ready to teach the grandkids how to fly fish, hike, and enjoy the mountains in an open-topped jeep.
Jennifer purchased this cabin in 2013
As mountain lovers, we finally found the cabin of our dreams, and not far from our granddaughters in Denver. We are servants at heart and want to make everything just right for your stay in our cabin. We know you will love it, as we do.
A cozy master bedroom with fire place, bunk room or loft for the kids, and a great room with so much glass the mountain comes into the cabin, made this a special find for us. We love the decks over looking our own piece of Elk Creek. Folks around, but not too close. Close to Denver, but you feel like your in the heart of the Rockies. Perfect mountain get away!
We had a wonderful time at the cabin. It is beautiful inside and the scenery is absolutely amazing. Loved hearing the sound of the creek at night and early mornings were great for seeing deer and bird watching.
We woke up to snow our last morning there and the view was even more fantastic.
The place is cute, but unclean. You are limited in your water use which was NOT told to us prior to checking in. Don't plan on flushing the toilet or taking a long shower. Plus limited supplies so bring your own TP, paper towels, and gallons of water to wash the dishes.
The cabin was a perfect get away for my husband and me. From the pictures and descriptions, we expected a great place, but this far exceeded our expectations. The décor is rustic, classic and comfortable (we felt right at home with many of the furnishings similar to our family pieces). The cabin is spacious for 2 and would be comfortable for a family. The location is great - not far from Denver, a beautiful drive to Colorado Springs, short drive to town for groceries and restaurants, not far from whitewater rafting, nearby places for hiking and biking, and the quaint little village of Pine close by. But by far, the best part was hearing the creek - we sat for hours by the water and on the decks and loved falling asleep to the pleasant sounds of the water going by. To top it off, Scott was helpful and interesting to talk to. Our only suggestion - provide some fans for the unusually hot weather this July. Our only complaint - we didn't have more time to enjoy the cabin. We really hope to schedule another stay at this beautiful cabin. Thank you!
This was a great location sitting on Elk Creek in the backyard. We enjoyed a relaxing weekend and there are many great drives in the area. We received what we expected for the value of our stay. We would return to this same house in the future (primarily due to the setting and Elk Creek). Scott the caretaker was super knowledgeable and offered may suggestions for local scenic drives.
We were so pleasantly surprised when we arrived - this cabin is the cutest thing ever! The location is amazing - in the middle of the mountains along the Elk Creek! The sounds of the creek are mesmerizing.
The decor is cozy, rustic and gorgeous. I love what they did to this cabin - from the outside "siding" to the various woods & furnishings inside. This really was so beautiful. I cannot say enough about it. We felt at home and relaxed. I wish we could have stayed longer.
The house has a great mountain cabin feel, beautiful surroundings and is in a great location. That said, the water shut off Saturday at around 11:30 am and the caretakers did not return to the house to fix the problem for about 6 hours, after multiple phone calls to them and also to the owner. We were off hiking/exploring for most of that time, so ultimately it was not a huge deal, but frankly most of that comes down to us being flexible and our plans allowing for us to be out of the house. Additionally, we noticed a sewage smell in the house first thing upon walking in. We found out Saturday that it was coming from the septic tank that is above ground, in the basement/crawl space below the house (when the caretakers came to fix the water issue, they let us know that the septic tank was almost full and they would have someone out the next day to pump it). We opened windows and lit candles and ultimately we were fine, but every time we came back into the house, we smelled it again.
We would absolutely stay here again. We would just want assurances that the water tanks and septic tank would be checked before we arrive, to ensure that we wouldn't have to deal with a lack of water and a sewage smell a second time.
