About Rachael Palacios
This is my father's property, he lives in Mexico and I live in the U.S. My sister and I are helping him manage this.
Rachael Palacios purchased this Condo in 2008
Why Rachael Palacios chose Manzanillo
He owns a house in Club Santiago and bought this as an extra place to have on hand when there were too many of us to stay at the house.
What makes this Condo unique
This is a unique, quiet complex that is away from the hustle and bustle, but close enough if you want to go into town and eat at the restaurants in Santiago (Juanito's is a favorite) or Manzanillo.

Beautiful location overlooking the ocean.
Very relaxing and friendly condo staff. Main pool outstanding views. Condo had everything needed for our stay. Any issues were addressed immediately by Rachael and the condo staff. We would stay here again!
Great space with the ocean out your door
We loved staying at the oceans edge. It was amazing to watch and listen to the sights and sounds. The complex staff was friendly and accommodating. The pools were clean and very well appointed. The apartment was clean with modern appliances. We lacked nothing. It was not far from Manzanillo center by car. The owner was very attentive although not close by helped in every way we asked. A romantic place for sure.
We had a wonderful time staying here and can't wait to return! The views are stunning...truly spectacular and photos can't do them justice. The condo is beautiful, clean and very well equipped. From the moment we inquired about the property, the owner was extremely prompt in responding and helping with anything we needed. In addition, the welcome/information packet provided to us was very well organized and informative. I really can't say enough about it! We look very forward to another visit very soon. Thanks so much!
There is a reason why we keep coming back...
This is probably the apartment in Mexico with the most beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean... It is clean, has everything you need (even air-conditioning!) and Rachael is very helpful in all your needs! Looking forward to going here again soon!
Thank you Attila, come back again soon to visit! You are a great houseguest! Best wishes, rachael
Great View, Increadible Nature Surroundings and Fantastic Pool overlooking the ocean.
The condo is very roomy and has all important amenities. The premises were clean and the two bathrooms are very convenient, wi-fi works very well as does the satellite TV network. TV programs are mainly in spanish although we do get a few films in english with spanish subtitles, also CNN international is in english. We had the priviledge of a long stay (5 weeks) and were totally thrilled by this wonderful complex which is Vida Del Mar. It is similar to a botanical garden with a great variety of trees and plants all around. The 3 pools are all beautiful and in great settings, although the one we preferred was the one overlooking the ocean and is closest to the condo we rented. One of our greatest experience was watching the waves crash into the rocks in front of the condo, just as the picture shows. The location of the complex is however about 25 kilometers from the large grocery stores in Manzanillo, so it is best to rent a car to really enjoy this wonderful resort. There is a restaurant nearby which serves very good food and has reasonable prices: La Boquita situated in Palma Real which is another resort close by. It is in walking distance (about 30 to 40 minutes depending on pace). Of course the site is built on hills and one must expect to climb stairs to go about the resort, although most premises are also accessible with a car and parking spaces are ample. We rented our car for the full duration of our stay including pick-up and drop-off at the airport: the company we rented from is "VASA" and is very reliable. Their pricing is very competitive and includes full insurance on all types of damages. As for cleaning sheets, towels and clothing, you just need to drop them off in the morning at the reception building (at the site entrance) and they charge about 27 pesos per kilo and is ready on the following day. We had about 10 kilos of washing which cost us the equivalent of 15 $ US twice during our 5 week stay. Big jugs of water are also available at reception for 25 pesos each, and we used 2 of them for our entire stay (there is a dispenser in the condo for these large water jugs and the delivery man can install it for you if desired). The owners`s daughter "Rachael" is very nice and speaks English, French and Spanish.
Thank you Roberto y Claudia for your detailed review, this will help others understand better the area and condo. It was great having you as our renters, you are fabulous, very conscientious and looking forward to having you again next year.
We were very happy to discover that the pictures reflected the reality . Sometimes what looks like a condo on the beach isn’t. So we were very pleased with our spot over looking the ocean. Plus the grounds, the pools and the beach which is safe for swimming we’re all beautifully kept up. However I’m sad to report that the pebble beach below our room had a lot of plastic trash ie cups bottles bags etc. We picked up over 8 bags of trash and left the beach as it should be, beautiful. It’s a steep walk down and isn’t safe for swimming so I guess the groundskeepers don’t feel a need to maintain it. But it was disappointing to see. However we loved the place and the surrounding community . We will be back !!
Thank you Rebecca for coming and for your review. I didn't know the beach below was so littered, and thank you for drawing attention to it. Nobody really goes down there so sadly the litter is coming from the ocean, not from people using it. I will let the management know, not sure what their policy is on cleaning it up. Appreciate you doing your bit for the environment though, thank you!
Manzanillo is a well-known resort destination in Mexico and was the first shipping yard in Latin America, built in 1531. Today it is Mexico's most important commercial seaport and a popular port of call with cruise liners. Known as the Sailfish Capital of the world, the port is host to many national and international competitions. Manzanillo consists of two large bays and boasts an average of 350 sunny days a year. You don't have to be a fishing aficionado to enjoy all Manzanillo has to offer. It has several resorts, the most famous of which is Las Hadas of Dudley Moore and Bo Derek '10' fame. Club Santiago is also a favorite spot with the foreign set, particularly in the winter months. Vida del Mar, the complex in this listing, is situated beyond the Club Santiago, set high on a mountain side with ocean views. It is not on the actual bay of Santiago and the small beaches of Vida del Mar are considered open ocean. The complex is therefore not recommended for young children and is best suited for adults who mainly enjoy relaxing by the pool, going into town for shopping or a nice meal, or exploring all the region has to offer. Vida del Mar has two pools and a restaurant, L'Recif that is open in the high season. The restaurant is poolside with a bar and has fantastic views of the ocean below.
But if sitting by the pool is not enough for you, there is plenty to do around Manzanillo.
There are golf courses nearby, at Club Santiago, or other hotel resorts in Manzanillo, or further away at Barra de Navidad. A trip to La Culebra and eating Pescado Sarandeado by the lagoon is highly recommended. You can catch a boat there that will take you past the Ritz Carlton resort to Barra de Navidad, a favorite spot with the more bohemian crowd.
About an hour southeast of the port is Cuyutlan, famous for the Ola Verde beach, home to some of the best surfing in Mexico.
Ecotourism is available at Manantlan Biosphere Reserve where there is a 100 ft. waterfall. People can swim, hike, mountain bike and go abseiling. Arrangements for these trips can be typically done through the local hotels.
Colima, the State capital is inland, about an hour away past the Sierra Mountains. There is an active volcano aptly named Volcan del Fuego that is known to spew lava/smoke when in a foul mood, making a perfect dramatic subject for the avid photographer. A dormant volcano next to it, Volcan Nevado de Colima forms part of the national park where you can go hiking, see the crater lake, spot wildlife, etc. Wise to check on conditions before going.
Just outside Colima is the Pueblo Magico of Comala, known for its painted white adobe buildings. About a mile outside of Comala is the Nogueras Cultural Center, housed in a former sugar hacienda.
How active you want to be is up to you. If you prefer to stay in Vida del Mar and enjoy the views poolside, or meditate to the hypnotic sound of the crashing waves in the privacy of the apartment, you will be sure to return rejuvenated.
