Why Elizabeth Clemens chose Chama

Our Santa Fe-based family purchased the property and built the home in the early 1990's as weekend getaway and gathering place for extended family and family friends. It's been a perfect place for adults to relax and kids to enjoy being outside. Our family has gotten years of enjoyment out of the home and surrounding area and we hope that your family enjoys it just as much as ours has.

Great

The house was great getting to the property in the winter months could be difficult. We got lucky no snow. I would stay there again if I was in town.

Comfortable, quiet house, amazing views

  • 5 of 5

This is a very comfortable house with great views.

I loved the solitude. Just being one with nature.

I saw many birds (lots of jays, magpies, chickadees, hummers, also some red-shafted flickers).

Several cute chipmunks.

Sitting close to the pond I heard the occasional large fish jump up and down. Of course when I looked for it, it was already gone.

I liked the desk to the right of the sliding door where I could put my laptop and look outside at the same time.

I did not miss a tv, internet was fine.

Maybe if 8 people would want to get online at the same time it would be a problem but for a solo traveller it was fast enough.

On my first night I saw a deer with her fawn. It was already almost dark but I hadn't turned on the lights yet.

They were right in front of the house so I tried to stay to the wall far away from the window and not move much. Still she spotted me after a few minutes and hurried away.

On my last night I saw three adult female deer on the other side of the pond. They were grazing for a while and then they walked away.

For me this was a special place, very peaceful.

I am already considering coming back.
