About the owner: In 2003 while living in Atlanta, we accepted an invitation to visit a friend in beautiful Blue Ridge, Georgia over the Labor Day weekend, and that one event changed the course in the lives of our family. To discover the incredible beauty that Blue Ridge offered, and to realize that this was just an hour and a half away from Atlanta presented a set of circumstances that set some wheels in motion. It is a beautiful home - the views are insane!

  • 4 of 5

We had an amazing time, but there we two details that were annoying. All of the towels supplied smelled of mildew and the guest room shower above the master had a consistent leak and brown water dripped into the master bath.

Very Impressive

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful home, beautiful views. This 3 story, 5 bedroom cabin was better than the pictures could show. Just north of Blue Ridge, GA up a gravel road that ends at a driveway for 3 cabins. They all split off and the cabins are secluded enough, but we did get the traffic in and out of the driveway to contend with at times. We attributed that to being a holiday weekend.

The bedrooms were well equipped and have comfortable beds. The living areas have very comfortable furniture. The kitchen has everything you need, unfortunately the pans were not non-stick and really made for some serious scrubbing after cooking meals. I thought the highlight of the cabin was, by far, the porches. The lower level porch is where the hot tub is located, the upper is equipped with a large round table and chairs by the gas grill and rocking chairs outside the main level bedroom. On the upper porch the central beams are a perfect distance apart to set up a camping hammock. It is truly one of the greatest views, down to the Toccoa River and its valley, from that perch. All around a great vacation destination to relax.

With the good comes the bad though, and the shared common area was about 250 steps down to railroad tracks which limited members of the group from accessing it like they wanted to. That area was also over grown when we arrived. A crew did come and cut the knee high grass the second day we were there which made it much more useable. It is a perfect spot to launch a kayak, fish, start a campfire. One last, very random, occurrence during the stay is we found 3 small scorpions in the house. Startling when you're going to take a shower and spot one of those waiting for you. None were able to do anything to any guests, but probably something an exterminator will need to look into.

Owner's Response: Dear Aaron, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are so happy to hear you enjoyed the beauty of Outlaw Ridge and the breathtaking views it offers. We agree that it is hard for pictures to do justice to the gorgeous home and incredible natural beauty of Blue Ridge. The porches are indeed a highlight of this home, and it is good to know you enjoyed them, as well. We sincerely apologize about the overgrown picnic area. Unfortunately, our landscaping team was not able to get down to the river property prior to your stay, but we sent them up to mow Friday evening and Saturday morning so your group could enjoy this peaceful area along the river. Regarding the small scorpions, they are an unfortunate side effect of the rain forest climate in North Georgia. We spray our homes often, and we did spray this home prior to your stay. We are happy to know they did not hinder your enjoyment of your stay with us. All the best to you, and thank you for choosing to stay with Cabin Rentals of Georgia. Sincerely, The CRG Team

Clean and beautiful cabin

  • 4 of 5

This was a beautiful cabin in a great location. Be careful of the roads because they are pretty rough and, if it rains, could be slick.

The cabin was clean, but not ready until about an hour after our checkin time and there were not enough bath towels for everyone. My husband and I had to use hand towels for our showers.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the kind words about our cabin! We are happy to hear you found the cabin to be beautiful (we agree!), and that you enjoyed its ideal location. Please accept our apologies for the delay in having the cabin ready; Outlaw Ridge is a large house and the housekeeping staff fell behind. That is certainly a rare occurrence, and we apologize for any inconvenience it caused. We also appreciate your comments about the bath towels. While we did a towel count to make sure there were enough for your group, we will talk to our housekeeping staff to make sure this is not a problem in the future. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and share your thoughts to help us continue to improve our service. All the best to you, and we hope to see you back in Blue Ridge soon.

Amazing Peaceful Getaway

  • 5 of 5

The property was better than we expected. We have been renting properties through VRBO in Georgia, North Carilna, Tennessee and this property was definitely the best. Last summer we rented a different house in Blue Ridge and we liked the town so much than we decided to come back this year again. We are extremely concerned with cleanliness, but with this house there was not a single issue. Everything was perfect and clean. The view from every room is breathtaking. We stayed with my two kids which are 18 and 14 and my parents in law. It was the best relaxing week. My wife and in-laws are already planning another trip to Blue Ridge again.

The only drawback that I can say about the property is that the walk down to the river is exhausting. There are way too many steps. You can go down fine, but to go back up..... it is not easy. You better be in an excellent shape. I wished we could have enjoyed more the river by the property.

I highly recommend this property!!!

Owner's Response: Eduardo, Thank you for such a wonderful review. We are just thrilled to hear you found this to be your best stay yet! We take pride in keeping up our homes and making sure they are cleaned up to our high standards, and it is great to hear that our efforts are appreciated. We are sorry to hear you found the steps to the river exhausting. They were built in an effort to make the river access more convenient. We are glad you were still able to enjoy your stay despite this slight setback. All the best to you, and we hope to see you back in Blue Ridge soon.

Don't book this cabin!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★

DO NOT stay at this cabin! I have been to Blue Ridge several times and have stayed in Homeaway properties. I have always had a wonderful time and will continue to come to Blue Ridge and use Homeaway. I would not recommend this cabin because of the owner/property manager. The first problem we encountered was when we went to sign the contract. We submitted all names and ages of the people staying in the cabin like we were asked to and we were informed that they don't allow children under the age of 8 years old. There was no mention of this on the website description. The property management agreed that they would allow us to keep our reservation. Once we left the cabin the owner/property manager contacted us and stated our children put scratches on the floor! Our children weren't even playing in the room the with scratches. Then they tired to charge us the security deposit for fixing the scratches. After this happened I read other reviews on Yelp and other sites stated the same type of issue. Perhaps this is their business model? My advice is to book another cabin if you are looking at this one!

Owner's Response: Dear Kelli, We would like the opportunity to speak with you personally regarding this matter. However, we must respond to your comments to clarify what happened in your situation. As you stated, we informed you that this home has an age limit, but we made an exception for you to allow your young children. We acted in good faith, which makes it even more shocking that you would then turn on us and refuse to take responsibility for damage caused by your children. The floor scratches that 5 of our staff members witnessed were in the living room, enter foyer, and master bedroom. It is hard to believe and highly unlikely that your children were never present in these areas. Regardless, the damage clearly happened during your stay. Our team inspects each cabin before and after every guest visit, so we stay well-informed about the condition of the homes we represent. The scratches we found after your party departed were not present before your stay, which is not only evidenced by our inspection team’s account, but also by your failure to report any damage upon arriving at the cabin. As the rental agreement states, guests are to inspect the home and report any damage immediately to avoid disputes such as this. You did not call us to report this damage, which is obviously because it was not there to begin with. All we are asking is for you to take responsibility for your children doing damage to this home, especially after we went out of our way to be accommodating and allowed you to bring them in the first place. If you would like to discuss this matter further, please give our office a call. Sincerely, The CRG Team
