About Amanda Baxter

We came from the UK in 1984 and lived in FL for some years. We found Lexington when on vacation here and bought the farm in 1993. Lexington is a beautiful small town to raise children in a peaceful environment. We are just five miles from downtown Lexington yet out in the countryside surrounded by farmland. It's bliss.

Amanda Baxter purchased this house in 1993

Why Amanda Baxter chose Shenandoah Valley

The amazing thing about this property is from it's location and views you would think you were miles away from anything and yet you are only 5 miles from downtown and 3 miles to the I81 and I64. Location, Location, Location and this is it.

Amazing views and great house for gathering with friends and family.

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed the house and especially the views and the outdoor situation with patios and hammock and beauty all around. The house is well equipped and the beds were comfortable. The house and patios are setup so you can be together, but there are also spaces for privacy. We definitely intend to come back sometime. Fantastic weekend!

Beautiful inside and out!

  • 5 of 5

Something for everyone! Kids loved playing outside on swing set and hot tub; they also loved the friendly pets outdoors. Some adults just enjoyed the views from the big windows overlooking a gorgeous farm. The house was well appointed with nice towels, comfortable beds, and cooking supplies, although I was glad I brought my own coffee (hotel-like coffee packets and filters were available). I was thinking we might be able to use the den with pullout sofa as a 5th bedroom before we arrived, but it was more of a pass-through room to get from the kitchen to the living room. Overall, it completely surpassed my expectations. Hoping to stay there again in the future!

Beautiful property

  • 5 of 5

Our family of five from Australia stayed 2 nights in the lovely Lazy Acres house during our month long U.S road trip.

Sensational views, great location close to Lexington township.

Very well appointed house that slept our family of one couple with three adult children very well.

Loved using the BBQ and hot tub on the deck watching the stars.

Amanda was very accomodating when we required matches and cooking oil on our first night.

Sad to leave!

beautiful, relaxing, well-equipped home and kitchen

  • 5 of 5

we rented this house for a team retreat and found it to be more than spacious enough for our 11 attendees, we enjoyed the spacious deck and hottub both nights relaxing and enjoying wine looking out on the beautiful scenery below us, the rooms were quite ample in space, there is a HUGE family room where we were all able to gather together for team building and training exercises, and the kitchen was able to seat us all between the large table and island seating which was so wonderful, we were really able to bond and enjoy each other as an entire team instead of smaller groups.

It is so quiet and peaceful with gorgeous sunrises and sunsets so be sure to catch one if at all possible and then we were only 10 minutes from Frank's which had some great pizza and then also from downtown Lexington which is super cute and has some great bars and eateries, we enjoyed Bistro on Main immensely! We plan on booking this house every summer for an annual retreat for my team and so do a couple other leaders with my company who were on this retreat! :)

Thank you for a wonderful stay and super relaxing weekend

Beautiful setting. Comfortable home, perfect for a family gathering.

  • 5 of 5

We could not have been more pleased with our trip to the Lexington area to stay at "Lazy Acres." The farm setting was beautiful and we enjoyed walks through the fields. We also enjoyed sitting out on the deck watching the sunset. The house was nicely decorated and the beds were very comfortable. The kitchen had everything needed for a long family weekend. We would definitely stay here again if we return to this area. We had fun day trips to Lexington which was close by and we enjoyed the sights and restaurants.
