Kanab enjoys a mild-moderate change of season. It is a beautiful place to visit year around, even in the winter! The days are typically sunny, even when cold. It snows on occasion, though it is normally not heavy and does not affect the local roads. The snow on the Vermillion cliffs is a gorgeous sight to see.
The activities are almost endless in and near town. Take a short drive into town for dining, shopping, 2 grocery stores, Redbox movie rentals, 2 movie theaters, museums, public pool with large slide, park with playgound, and old movie sets. Enjoy hiking on numerous nearby trails. Learn about Kanab history and see real dinosaur tracks inside the Moqui Cave just north of town. Rent an ATV to ride on one of many nearby trails or take a guided jeep or ATV tour! The world famous Best Friends Animal Sanctuary is located just north of town in Angel Canyon; take a tour there or volunteer to work with the animals they serve. Ride a zip-line through canyons just miles north of town. Kanab is an easy day trip to several national parks, such as 40 miles to Zion National Park, 80 miles to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon (seasonal from mid. May thru mid. October), and 79 miles to Bryce Canyon National Park.
Our Vermillion Canyon Hideaway home is very special to us and we are happy to share it with others. We hope you fall in love with it the way we have. Welcome and enjoy!
We purchased this home because we fell in love with Kanab while on vacation. The scenery, fresh air, and friendly people are beyond compare. Kanab is a perfect place to relax, or, to use as a convenient landing place between many national parks which are an easy day-trip away.
We pride ourselves on a clean, beautiful and comfortable home. We want your stay to be perfect!
Sue or BJ Juarez purchased this house in 2005
This property is easily one of the best in town! Located on an elevated, treed, private 3 acre lot, the views are tremendous from every angle and from both the upstairs and downstairs of this home.
This property has been newly remodeled to bring out the best the home has to offer. The expansive covered deck and patio enhance the viewing experience. The 3 acre grounds are pristine and breathtaking. The upstairs gourmet kitchen provides the chef with a great cooking environment, or, serves as a beautiful gathering place for friends and family. The bedrooms are all beautifully furnished with upgraded mattresses and sumptuous linens. This home is truly a gem!
We've been fortunate to stay in a number of VRBO properties all over the country, and this home is now in our top 3. I always love this location. While Kanab is a sleepy little town with not a lot to offer in night life (if that's what you're looking for), it's adequate with eating establishments, gift shops, and necessities. But that's not why we go to Kanab. It's a great central location for so many really amazing road trips.
The house. Warm, welcoming, comfortable. First words that come to mind. The layout was really great with the covered porch off the kitchen. Views were wonderful. Right in the middle of a quiet neighborhood that surreptitiously hums with the bustle of everyday life. 5 minutes from central Kanab. We were traveling with 2 couples and a single. One of the couples was our son and his girlfriend, who really enjoyed the privacy of a full apartment on the first floor.
All of the updates that Sue and Ben have done in the house were well thought-out. Bathrooms and kitchen are like new ... really nice appliances and fixtures. Kitchen was very well appointed with a great assortment of pots, pans, dishes. Beds were very comfortable. Linens were great. Lots of towels. Lots of closet space.
Although they do not participate in VRBO's on-line booking system, sending and check and receiving the keys in the mail was not an issue. Sue was responsive and communicative through the entire process. She was a pleasure to deal with.
I can't think of anything negative to say about this home. Only thing I would change is that I would put in a hot tub (but that's just one of those things that's always on my wish list). I'm sure, though, that brings a whole set of headaches for an owner.
In a nutshell .. this home was fabulous.
4 of us arrived after dark, so it was not until the next morning that I was greeted with the most breathtaking view from the upstairs deck. The views were equally impressive from every room. The house is beautifully appointed with amenities like hardwood floors and custom cabinetry, but felt so homey we were quite comfortable curling up on the oversized furniture in the living room. It is fully equipped if you want to cook or grill out. The bedrooms are large and inviting with all the comforts we could want. A lot of attention has been paid to even small details.
The location is a plus. It is very private yet is close to town where we had some very nice meals. Try breakfast at Houston's in Kanab. The house is also close to several national parks. We were only able to visit Zion which should be on everyone's vacation list. We will be going back. If you are an animal lover, check out Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. It is a heartwarming experience.
A special thanks to the owners, Sue and Ben. You were a great resource and we can tell how much you love the house. We will be back and we are telling all our friends!
We recently returned from a six day family vacation in Kanab, Utah. We chose to stay at Vermillion Canyon Hideaway due to it's central location to many of the National Parks we wanted to visit. Well we couldn't have been more pleased! This recently remodeled home is just beautiful! It is full of high end finishes such as hardwood floors, granite, new custom wood cabinets, stainless appliances in the kitchen and updated bathrooms with attractive tile work. The new, covered back deck is a great place to watch the sunrise & sunset over the canyon.
There were five of us staying here, two couples & one single adult and we were very comfortable. While we ate out most of the time, the kitchen was well stocked with everything you'd need to cook a meal (food not included). There is also a dining table large enough to sit 8, great for family gatherings.
This house is located only minutes away from downtown Kanab, yet feels very private. There are a good variety of restaurants in Kanab. Our favorites were the Rocking V & Escobar's. I would recommend making reservations at Rocking V as it is quite popular.
There are many parks & hikes within an hour and a half drive or less. We visited Coral Pink Sand Dunes, Bryce National Park, the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, Secret Canyon, a slot canyon in Page, Arizona and went on a boat tour on Lake Powell. We also took a drive up to Duck Creek Village to explore the area & shops.
There is still so much more we'd love to see in southern Utah. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat! Sue & Ben made our stay so comfortable & were quick to answer any questions we had. I would definitely recommend this property as your home base while exploring southern Utah.
My husband and I have vacationed in Kanab several times and every time we do we stay at this property. It really is home away from home. Everything about this beautiful hideaway is comfortable and inviting! You can tell the house is well cared for and that the owner's Ben and Sue take pride in their home. The house is situated on a large, private lot and really does has the best views of the red cliffs and town of Kanab. Whether you're looking for a home base to spend your time sightseeing, or if you are looking for a relaxing retreat away from the hustle and bustle of the city. This is the house for you. Thank you Ben and Sue for your generous hospitality and allowing my husband and I to enjoy your beautiful home. We will most certainly be back!
My family and I stayed here for a week during the summer and had an amazing time! The house was very clean and accomodated my family of 5 very well. It was in a quiet neighborhood and only a short drive away from Kanab's downtown. The house had amazing views, which made it great to watch the sunrise and stargaze at night. It also was close to many of the national parks: 30 minutes from Zion, 1 hour from Bryce, 1 1/2 from Capitol Reef, and about 2 1/4 hours from the Grand Canyon South Rim. There were also many slot canyons right outside of Kanab that were easy to find. This vacation and house rocked (pun intended)!
We and another couple stayed at this house for a week and loved it. The house was really pretty and clean, the beds were comfortable, and the kitchen and bathrooms were very nice and had everything we needed. We enjoyed a fire in the wood stove in the living room and cooking on the BBQ grill outside. Sitting on the back porch for coffee in the mornings and happy hour in the evenings was great – such pretty views in every direction. And we were far enough from town that stargazing on the driveway at night was very good. We also enjoyed watching the short documentary on DVD they had called ‘Return to Little Hollywood’ which told about all the movies and TV shows filmed in the Kanab area over the years.
The location of the house was great for visiting all the area parks. We went to Zion, Bryce, Antelope Canyon, Lake Powell, and Coral Pink Sand Dunes. (We’ll have to go back another time when the North Rim of the Grand Canyon is open.) We also enjoyed bird watching from the back porch, as well as on Johnson Canyon Rd and at the Kanab reservoir. There is no shortage of things to do in this area, and we highly recommend the house and the area.
