Cannaregio House Rental Photos and Description

Spacious house in 2 floors

This charming house offers all the comforts of modern living in a suffused historical atmosphere, it is a wonderful solution for family who want a marble and comfortable home in center of the city but in the same time in a peaceful and quiet area.

The apartment is very bright and spacious, at the ground floor it has an elegant and large living room, a very bright and functional modern kitchen and a luxury stylish bathroom. At the first floor there is a lovely and cozy bedroom with a king-size bed, another room with 2 single bed that could be attacked like a double bed and a modern and stylish bathroom. There's air conditioning in the sleeping area and central heating to ensure a comfortable stay.

Outside there's a patio with flowers and vegetables, in the middle you find a table where we recommend especially in the summer to eat in a quiet and typical background.

At 100 meters far from the house you will'be in front of the venetian lagoon, with its wealth of wildlife and natural species, seeing the many islands and the sinuous typical lagoon's 'barene' , reproduction area for hundreds of species of birds.

Lovely home in a quiet area

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here 3 nights. Meeting up was very easy....there is a water taxi very close. The home is located off the grand canal so it is a lot less busy and a lot quieter.....but close enough that you can be in the hustle and bustle in no time.

The bed was comfortable, the water hot, and the house clean. It looks just like the pictures. I also loved being able to relax in the courtyard and smell the jasmine that was in full bloom. If I ever venture back to Venice, this will be where I stay.

Also, Osteria Ai Canottieri right around the corner makes a fabulous cappuccino. Had a lovely dinner there as well.

A haven of peaceful tranquility.

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I are regular visitors to Venice but for this trip, we were accompanied by my sister and husband. So we were in need of a two bedroom, (ideally two bathroom), place to stay and Ca Ballaran seemed to fit the bill - so we booked for a week in early May 2016.

The area in which the house is located is tranquil and easily accessible; with the “orange--line”, Alilaguna airport water-bus, stopping at Guglie - a short, “two-bridge” walk away. The house is located in a private courtyard, accessed via an entrance on to the Fondamente San Giobbe. This means that it is extremely peaceful, if you are concerned about noise levels.

The interior has been renovated to a high standard, with modern appliances and an eye to practical detail. We didn’t do any cooking but the house has all the appliances; should you wish to do so. Both bathrooms are decorated to a very high standard and the supplied bath towels were of excellent quality - something that’s not always the case in Italy. The beds were comfortable and provided an uninterrupted night’s sleep - once we had determined who liked the firmer pillows, (there were both hard and soft provided).

Downstairs, was very comfortable, with some very nice detail touches, such as a small library of books in a variety of languages. We didn’t make use of the courtyard much, as when the sun was shining, we preferred to take breakfast outside, at the friendly cafe/restaurant next door, (excellent fresh baked croissants every morning). Speaking of restaurants, there is an excellent selection on both banks of the Canareggio Canal; which proved to be a godsend after a long day’s sightseeing. Some evenings we just didn’t want to walk very far for dinner.

Last but not least, are there any negatives to staying in Ca Ballaran? If this is your first trip to Venice, the truly authentic character of the area, may not live up to the hype of “guidebook” Venice. You won’t see any gondoliers on the Canareggio Canal, (except during Vogalonga), and it can be a little quiet in the evenings, (for some). However, if you want to know why Venice is named “La Serenissima”, (the Serene One), then Ca Ballaran will provide you with the answer.

Love This Venetian Home

  • 5 of 5

I recently stayed in Venice and this house was wonderful. The house felt like home. The neighborhood was charming and far away from the massive tourist crowds. Enjoyed having the ability to walk to Piazza San Marco during the day but also avoid the large crowds in the evening sitting at a local restaurant in Cannaregio.

Rita was wonderful throughout the process. She answered my questions very promptly and I greatly appreciated her guidance. Federico was very helpful with his information about places to see and where to eat.

I will definitely stay at this wonderful Venetian home again. It was everything I hope it would be and more. Hopefully I will be back next year!

We Will ABSOLUTELY Stay Here Again!

  • 5 of 5

I had meant to write this review MUCH earlier and realized I had not when recommending this charming home to a friend for their upcoming trip. (Unfortunately for them, it is booked for the time they will be there, so they will have to try next time.) We went to Venice for our 20th anniversary and we didn't just want to stay in a hotel--we wanted to do something more intimate and unique, and we got exactly what we bargained for!

Rita was an absolute joy to work with throughout the entire rental process from my very first inquiry to our last communication after we had returned home. Federico was great about meeting us at the appointed place and time, escorting us to the house, and then providing us a wealth of information about everything local restaurants to travel tips.

The house was EVERYTHING we had hoped for on our trip. It is charming, well appointed, very comfortable and just far enough away from the things to be a refuge from the crowds and business of the day, but close enough so that you are not far from anything you may want to do or anything you may need. We loved the privacy of the location as well as the courtyard, and enjoyed sitting out there almost every day when we took a break from our sightseeing or when eating dinner or just having a drink. The air conditioning was welcome since I for one have great difficulty sleeping in overly warm conditions, and while we did not need it the entire time, it was welcome when we did need it.

As I said the house was everything we had hoped for with a fully functional kitchen (which w did make use of on several occasions, bedrooms with plenty of storage and GREAT bathrooms. While we had brought more than enough clothes with us, it was also nice to see that there were laundry facilities available just in case we needed them.

We are planning a trip back hopefully next year, and we absolutely plan to stay here again if it available when we go. We sort of consider it "our" little house in Venice--a home away from home!

amazing home to be a part of real venice

  • 4 of 5

Thank you to Rita and Federico for allowing us to share their home

We stayed with our 2 late teenage granddaughters on their first trip to Venice

The house was beautifully appointed with everything we needed

Just off of the Cannaregio canal only a few minuets from the vaporetto stop and close to local shops supermarkets and restaurants

Don't let people put you off by saying Venice is expensive This is a great way to enjoy Venice as a local

The only reservation and the reason for 4*rather than 5*is the difficulty we had trying to open the deadlocks on the front door though we did master it on the day we left

Everything is exactly as shown on the web site

We would defiantly stay again and have recommended it to friends

Booking was easy and Rita responded quickly to our emails

Once again thank you Rita and Federico

Kiwis on Tour

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four visited Venice in July for three nights. This little house was the perfect retreat after a hard day's sightseeing! The two bathrooms were definitely a plus with four adults! The location was quiet, but easy to get to. Federico explained everything to us and gave us some good tips on local restaurants and transport. Live like a Venetian!

The location is in the 'Cannaregio' neighborhood, few steps from Jewish Ghetto, where there is never a dull moment, thanks to its market, craft workshop, rowing clubs and Casino, while relaxation comes in the shady parks and laid-back cafés and bars that line the maze of back-street canals. You will be just at 5 minutes away from tourist routes, shops, restaurants, 2 minutes to the 'vaporetto' (boat bus) stop and 10 minutes from the Railway Station.

Cannaregio is the epitome of real life in Venice!
