This charming, spacious farmhouse has tons of character and provides everything you need for a comfortable stay. It's a perfect home base, located within 30-40 minutes of unique towns, beaches, and parks. We loved spending our evenings on the deck enjoying the sights and sounds of the farm, playing board games, and stargazing. Check-in was a breeze, the listing is highly accurate (there is no TV), and the bedrooms and kitchen are well-equipped. 5 of the 6 bedrooms have window AC units, and while the main living area lacks AC, ceiling and oscillating fans are provided. While the property is great, a few specific issues kept this from being a 5-star stay. The 4-star rating is due to a lack of upkeep caused by previous renters who did not respect the property. Upon arrival, there was an overwhelming cat urine smell near the back entry and laundry hall, those with severe allergies should be mindful. Additionally, about halfway through our stay, we discovered the outdoor fire pit was unusable due to broken glass, cans, plastics, and other burned trash left inside/around the pit. However, host communication is absolutely stellar. Amy deserves 100 out of 5 stars for her responsiveness. When we reported the cat odor, she arranged for a cleaner to come the next day while we were out to address the issue. When notified about the fire pit, Amy acknowledged the problem and provided her apologies. She went above and beyond to find solutions quickly, making us feel valued and looked after.
As a group of six guys who went charter fishing on Lake superior and trout fishing in nearby rivers, this was a great place to stay. Host was quick to answer questions and very friendly. We would definitely book again.
