Rio d'Oro holiday lettings

We had such a great weekend at this apartment. It is much closer to the beach than I thought it would be (about 2 mins walk) The apartment was very clean and well equipped. We sat on the roof terrace for breakfast and all thought we would like to come back in the summer sometime. Comfy beds and good showers. We got the bus to Girona one day and of course, walked some of the Camino de Ronda which was stunning. Our flight home was not until the evening, and we were allowed a late check out for which we were so grateful.

Wonderful stay. Superb villa and beautifully positioned

We received a very warm welcome from Ken and Ethel. They clearly love their home and it doesn’t take long to see why. The villa has all the home comforts you could wish for, it is clean and spacious with everything you could need. The gardens, pool and outdoor space are beautiful as is the view. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Wonderful grounds love by us and 2 dogs, comfortable accommodation and loved open fire on chillier November evenings. Wonderful hosts and so close to 3 beaches, Palafrugell and great visits to botanical gardens and Gerona was within an hour and loved. So many personal touches to this property to make a stay magical in every way.

We were two families looking for a place to stay in the Costa Brava. We wanted somewhere with a pool, plenty of space and lovely outdoor areas for BBQ'ing and relaxing (plus great WiFi for device hungry kids!). Villa Calonge was perfect for this. The first encouraging sign was the great communication with Jackie once we had booked our stay. She answered our questions and told us what to expect in the Villa. We were all very excited. Our check in was really easy and Hans showed us all of the features of the Villa, presented the wonderful outdoor spaces, pool, hot tub and the Villa itself. Wow, what luxury, but not in a way where you felt like you couldn't live in the Villa and be at home. Villa Calonge really was a home from home with beautiful art, attention to detail and exciting themed rooms. The kitchen was great and with two large fridges, it housed all of the necessary supplies for the 15 of us! No cramming stuff into a small fridge which is sometimes a failing of lots of holiday places. We also didn't need to go out and buy utensils as the kitchen had everything you need plus a lot more. The lounge area was huge and with a large screen TV and the ability to plumb in your own source of movies and music, it was perfect for us. The themed bedrooms were a lovely touch and the beds were very comfortable. The showers were great with no water issues and the provided towels (shower & pool towels) helped keep us under our luggage allowance. The real magic of Villa Calonge is the many social spaces that you could use, plus great private spaces to get away from noisy kids. We could all come together when we wanted, but also had enough areas to not be on top of each other. The pool really is wonderful with the infinity view and provided a great focal play area but it was also was a lovely pool to get some lengths in to try and reduce the holiday waist expansion. Hans was on hand to answer questions and kept the pool and hot tub lovely and clean. Jackie provided great local knowledge of events and activities (see their facebook page!) and this lead us to some wonderful events that we would have never discovered. We were particularly pleased with a nearby food and music festival (La Santa) whe we spent two memorable evenings. We really want to thank Jackie and Hans for providing a wonderful Villa for us to experience a very memorable holiday. The only negative is that we had to leave!
