Prefect Location

  • 5 of 5

We have being staying at Jack's place for several years. Never disappointed. Location is convenient to both Magazine St (one block) and St Charles Ave (three blocks). We always feel safe in the area and prefect for walking our four legged family member. Coffee shops and restaurants within easy walk. Thanks again Jack

Very nice and clean. House is in good location.

  • 5 of 5

Jack was very accommodating in allowing us to check in early when we found ourselves in town ahead of schedule. The house is located on a quiet street and just a couple of blocks from popular Magazine St. This was our first HomeAway experience and plan to use the service in future travels.

Jack's house: a house of hospitality, good times, and great memories

  • 5 of 5

My dad and I stayed at Jack's duplex for a whirlwind weekend in NOLA. I am so glad we did! I think we would have had a good time in NOLA if we had stayed elsewhere- but staying here made it GREAT.

Location is amazing- a block from the number 11 Magazine St. bus, a few blocks from the 91 bus or the St. Charles streetcar line. It was a quick and simple trip to the French Quarter and Frenchmen St. for "touristy" food and music experiences- but also easy to get to the 6th ward for some chicken at Willie Mae's or over to the Mississippi river to contemplate the history and beauty of the mighty waterway. There are restaurants and a very nice Italian deli and coffee shop within easy walking distance.

Jack was extremely hospitable- even gave us a lift to and from the airport! He helped us out with recommendations on places to go and things to do, and was all around the kind of guy I want to spend more time with.

His house is extremely well cared-for and equipped, with a comfortable bed and futon, plenty of extra bedding, lots of dishes, cleaning supplies, plenty of towels and even organic fruit and snacks in a basket and some water in the fridge! The decor is obviously things he's spent time collecting over the years, from local art to historic photos and posters, and all of them scream "New Orleans" in a pleasant but authentic way; they were put there by someone who loves his city, that's evident. For the curious reader, there are all manner of books out related to local life and history- everything from cajun life in the bayou in candid photos, to the civil rights struggle of the last century, to a historic cookbook!

I really can't speak highly enough of this place, and of Jack. I have rented a lot of homes but never have I felt so welcome and well-cared-for as in this one. I would be happy and content renting this one again, and I hope to come back again.
