Chelonia (Genus) Mydos (Species) – Green Sea Turtle. We named our new vacation home after the Majestic Green Sea Turtle. If you are lucky enough to witness the grace and beauty of these creatures while snorkeling or scuba diving; you will bring home one of several special memories.
As you can see from the photos, Chelonia House is the complete vacation package. Affordably priced, it is steps from the front door to your private beach. Experience the sound and smells of the ocean from the front porch, snorkel right off the shore, relax on the patio and soak in the hot tub.
The complete kitchen along with the charcoal grille will engage the gourmet cook in your group. Or eat out at a different local restaurant every night. And when you finish dinner you can walk the streets of New Plymouth or walk the moonlit beach almost anywhere on the island.
The island people are extremely friendly and accommodating. For this and many other reasons many of the tourists in GTC are repeat customers. The island is relatively small but never feels small; there is always somewhere to go or something to do that with keep your adventure alive. There are three main Yacht Cubs with gourmet dining and many local restaurants with equally gourmet meals. Scuba diving or snorkeling with Brendel’s Dive Center offers a variety of packages. Lincoln Jones will take you fishing and cook you a fresh fish dinner at one of the most beautiful beach coves in the world; where you can feed sting rays and sharks out of your hand! If you want adventure you’ll get it “on Little old Green Turtle Cay”. There are several marinas that rent various size boats to get you out fishing or exploring other uninhabited little islands where you can picnic and treasure hunt. Bone fishing as well as deep sea fishing are big on GTC and there are several charter guides to help you get the “Big One”.
The Gelly Roosters, GTC local “Best Band in the Nation” will rock your socks off at least a couple nights during your stay. If you like to dance you’ll get your “boogey on” with the “Roosters”. Leave your inhibitions back home. You can always have fun and get a pool game at Sun Downers bar/restaurant, one of several hot spots on the island.
And if you don’t drink, dance, shoot pool, eat out, scuba dive, walk moon lit beaches, jog snorkel, fish, visit museums and several other great things to do, you can visit on of the many beautiful churches on GTC.

They still look forward to coming back whenever Kelly and I will bring them. Over the years we have ventured to other islands and countries but GTC is where we love most. This year we bought our home and are happy to share it with you. Living in Northwest Pennsylvania it is always a treat to return to GTC to have fun and see our longtime friends.
Bill and Kelly Fritz purchased this house in 2013
Chelonia House is centrally located near the center of the Island between LongBay and Gillum Bay only steps from the ocean. Our home is completely furnished in stylist decor. The bedrooms are spacious as is the kitchen / dining area and the living room has a large wrap around couch and a large screen TV we hope you are too busy to watch! The deck out back is large and private for sun bathing, cooking on the grill and has a heated hot tub !
This house is newly constructed with extra wood trim , and attention to detail. The master bed room has a double sink vanity, shower and large Jacuzzi tub. The King size bed is in front of a large flat screen TV with cable and Blue Ray player. The large enclosed Sunroom is great for dining larger groups or makes a great playroom for the kids young or old. After you walk off the 600 sq ft deck with the hot tub you will be in a spacious comfortable back yard with a fire pit where you can roast your hotdogs if you rather not use the charcoal grill, and a swing set for the kids .
Green Turtle Cay is a very special place for my husband and I. In 2012 my husband asked me to marry him on the beaches of Cocoa Bay. We've been coming back ever since sometimes 4 times a year. It became even more special after meeting Bill and Kelly, owners of the Chelonia House. We've rented their home about 1/2 dozen times since 2013.
The house is always exceptionally clean, well maintained, super organized, and overall a stress free environment. From the giant back deck where you can do your morning yoga to sitting on the front porch watching the birds and listening to the waves crash on the beach yards away. You will not find a more relaxing environment anywhere on the island. Go see for yourself why this is one of the best kept secrets on the GTC.
We've bee going to GTC since 2010. We've stayed at various houses around the island and we've even stayed on our boat when there were no houses available. We met Bill and Kelly at a restaurant in 2013 and decided to rent their home on our next trip.
The house is very comfortable, AC blows ice cold, hot tub works great, clean and very organized. Garage has a separate fridge for your beers, walking distance to the beach and walking distance to the marina for boat rentals.
Out of all the homes we've rented this is by far our favorite, Bill and Kelly go out of their way to make sure everything works like it should. Highly recommend it, you will not be disappointed.
Our party of 8 (4 adults, 4 kids under 6) couldn't have found a better place if we tried. Bill and Kelly were easy to deal with in booking (even after my bank messed up a payment transaction) and Fanny was so helpful our entire time on the island. The house is HUGE, so much so that we could have a 6 month old baby napping in one room and three other kids 3 - 5 running around the other parts of the house without being heard. The hot tub on the back deck was a bonus, especially as we had some "cooler" nights of near 20C (keeping in mind that our group came from the Canadian Arctic!). The kitchen was extremely well equipped (though for a group our size we found the dishwasher a little small, so mostly just hand washed dishes), especially with kid-friendly dishes, cups, etc.
The island itself is friendly, beautiful and very laid back with plenty of great beaches. By the time we left, we felt like we knew everyone and everyone knew us! A golf-cart makes it easy to run into town to get a few things, or explore other parts of the island. Bill gave us the tip to shop in Marsh Harbour before heading over to the island - this is a MUST. The grocery stores on the island carry the basics, but only stocked fresh produce once per week and carry a limited selection. With young kids we didn't try many restaurants, but the couple we did were decent but nothing to write home about. We rented a boat for 5 days of our stay and this is also strongly recommended (Fiddle Cay is a must!) as it let us explore a lot of the smaller, unpopulated cays in the area as well as get down to such places as Treasure Cay to explore different beaches.
An excellent stay in a beautiful place!
Very spacious, tastefully decorated comfortable home. Nestled on a quiet neighborhood street just a minute or two walk from the beach, this is a great house for couples or small groups looking for a quiet private place in the tropics. The back deck is huge and secluded...a great place to relax with drinks and a book. The modern kitchen is completely equiped for anything you could think of preparing. You're just a few minutes, via golf cart, from several charming eating and drinking places. The house, the grounds and the entire island have a natural beauty, untouched by the mega-development of so many tropical destinations. Love it! We'll be back.
We spent two weeks at the Chelonia house and it was excellent. Our family enjoys cooking and we were pleasantly surprised to find the kitchen is nicely stocked with utencils, plates, glasses, pots and pans. The house was spacious and had a home like feel. Lorenzo the gentleman that looked after us during our stay was wonderful. He was knowledgeable about the island and was able to help us with most of our requests. We really enjoyed the deck and jacuzzi. The back yard is spacious and the firepit is an added plus. The beaches and water are beautiful, we enjoyed wandering the many beaches looking for shell and turtles. A golf cart is a must if you want to explore the island. I recommend McIntosh Restaurant (the first restaurant when entering town) the rum cake was excellent. If you don't see something you are looking for just ask they were very accomodating and bake daily. I would also recommend the Chicken Souse at Cafe Rock. You may need a reservation to hold your bowl but it was really tasty! Fresh Lobster Salad and Conch Salad are made on fridays at the main dock by Eddie... The lobster salad is to die for....highly recommend! We went fishing with Lincoln (actually his son Marcus took us out) and I really recommend going if you want a great day out on the water for some fun in the sun. Snorkeling with Brindel was a super time, got to swim with a shark, it was a great experience. Overall a great vacation, beautiful blue water and the locals are awesome!
Our home is across the street from the ocean , trees block the ocean view from the ground but the water can be seen from the upstairs bedroom and the surf will put you to sleep with the windows open and the ocean breeze gently blowing. There are several restaurants and bars. There is something happening somewhere almost every night . The locals will welcome you wherever you are! This island is a bit of paradise and only the lucky find it ! And when they do they usually return .
