About Mona Rishel-Shissler

Bryon - middle back row and me in blue - middle front row with our kids and grandkids. We purchased Campbell Farm in 1990. For 30 years we worked as consultants restoring our log home, refurbishing all the out buildings including our - A Cottage at Campbell Farm. We continue to expand vegetable and flower gardens and enjoy sharing the property with all the wonder folks who return again and again to our cottage and now, our 'glamping' site.

Mona Rishel-Shissler purchased this cottage in 2013

Why Mona Rishel-Shissler chose Laurel Highlands

Bryon began thinking about building the 'glamping' site about 12 years ago when our family reunion was at a cousin's farm. Chuck and his son set up their 'trappers' tent and Bryon said, this would be a wonderful addition to our 'camping' site at the farm. He built all the structures and situated the site strategically to enjoy the great views.

What makes this cottage unique

If you want to enjoy the outdoors but aren't quite ready for camping or, have had some raining camping experiences - this site is for you. And, Bryon has been thoughtful with the placement to provide you with maximum privacy while being easily accessible.

Heaven on Earth!

  • 5 of 5

This property is as close to Heaven on Earth as you are going to find! You will be on a secluded property, behind the family's farm. They have a lovely safari-style tent with real bed, an outdoor kitchen (just bring your own food and wine), an outdoor clawfoot tub with a mountain view, and a fire pit. They have also cut trails behind the property allowing your own private easy-hike with sunset views. When we were there, the Confluence festival below the property gave us a private fireworks view. There is also a cell tower on the next hill over - we did not have service on our sprint phone, but had excellent verizon coverage (when we wanted it). We were an easy drive from Ohiopyle hiking and Frank Lloyd Wright homes (Fallingwater and Kentcuk Knob). If you want to tour either of those homes, book your tickets in advance online to ensure availability. Enjoy your stay! We did. :-)

Slice of heaven

  • 5 of 5

The first impression was the best! We were welcomed by Mona and later met Bryon, and both are such personal and amazing people. The Glamping site was breathtaking. My husband and I are both in our thirties and have four children. So this trip was very much needed. We wanted a runaway for our anniversary and this was more than expected. We felt like we were part of nature. The site was very clean and cozy. They have everything you need for your stay. They did all the thinking for you :) They also have two amazing cabins that would be great to stay at for the winter months but also available year round. One of them having it's own private pond with a great swing to relax and enjoy the outside. I would highly recommend their cabins and Glamping site. Definitely a must see!

Charming, relaxing, and beautiful getaway

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely place to get away and relax. It feels more isolate than it is, and is very private. The tent, kitchen, & bathing area are all cozy & well-furnished with many touches that show a great attention to detail. Enjoying hot baths while looking out over the hills of the Laurel Highlands was such a treat, and the surrounding woods are great for an easy hike. We loved our stay and were sad to go. Would definitely recommend to friends & would stay again! Thank you!

Owner's Response: Best Wishes to Katie and Adam on their marriage. We are happy you honeymooned at Campbell Farm. And, like some of our other "glampers" - we hope you will return in the winter and spring to enjoy our woodland cottage - and our cottage that is situated beside a well-stocked pond:

Quaint & Romantic

  • 5 of 5

My Fiance and I needed a break from the city noise and we also wanted to celebrate milestones in our relationship so we decided to book this site. The location is absolutely beautiful and it exceeded our expectations. The tent is clean and there are no bugs inside. It is cozy and we used the heat blankets to keep warm at night. We woke up to the sound of birds chirping in the morning, which was a refreshing sound compared to the honking of cars. After breakfast we did some local hiking, we found that a popular bike trail which we walked and met a lot of great people along the way. In the afternoon, we took our books out and relaxed on the porch. After dinner we ran a bath and watched the sunset, which was by far our favorite part of the trip. TIPS: We wish we would have planned our meals better, we weren't sure what we would have access to, but the kitchen is fully equipped! We are both looking to booking another weekend. We loved it so much that we recommended the location to all our friends!

Loved it! peaceful, relaxing and beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second time at the glampsite! We loved it so much last year, we came back again. We brought our bikes and biked on the trails in Ohio-pile State Park. It was beautiful to ride along the river and watch the rafters. We did have a problem with our brakes on the truck and had to get them fixed before we headed home. Bryon was so kind and followed us the the mechanic and brought us back to the glampsite to wait for a few hours until it was done. He drove us back to our truck afterwards! We couldn't thanks him enough to give us peace of mind that the truck was fixed. They are a wonderful couple and would do anything for you! We will come back to paradise again!
