About Mona Rishel-Shissler

Bryon - middle back row and me in blue - middle front row with our kids and grandkids. We purchased Campbell Farm in 1990. For 30 years we worked as consultants restoring our log home, refurbishing all the out buildings including our - A Cottage at Campbell Farm. We continue to expand vegetable and flower gardens and enjoy sharing the property with all the wonder folks who return again and again to our cottage and now, our 'glamping' site.

Mona Rishel-Shissler purchased this cottage in 2013

Why Mona Rishel-Shissler chose Fort Hill

Bryon began thinking about building the 'glamping' site about 12 years ago when our family reunion was at a cousin's farm. Chuck and his son set up their 'trappers' tent and Bryon said, this would be a wonderful addition to our 'camping' site at the farm. He built all the structures and situated the site strategically to enjoy the great views.

What makes this cottage unique

If you want to enjoy the outdoors but aren't quite ready for camping or, have had some raining camping experiences - this site is for you. And, Bryon has been thoughtful with the placement to provide you with maximum privacy while being easily accessible.

The best of both worlds!

  • 5 of 5

The setting is perfect! Close enough to parking and town, but far away enough to feel like you’re camping on some far away cliff. It is stocked with everything you need so no need to bring anything. You can tell the owners truly wanted to make your stay relaxing and enjoying. All the details are there. And taking a bath outside while watching the sunset....priceless. We will absolutely be back!

Enjoy nature in comfort!

  • 5 of 5

This thoughtfully prepared campsite provides a comfortable stay in a beautiful private setting in the Laurel Highlands. The bath tub is amazing with its panoramic view of the mountains! Hosts are friendly and helpful, when needed. The surrounding area is beautiful with nearby biking, hiking, and kayaking opportunities.

Relaxing experience with an amazing view

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we pulled up we found ourselves to be completely at peace. This property is beautiful, secluded but not too far away from local towns and activities. Bryon met us outside and was so kind. After we unloaded our vehicle, we walked up the hill and were stunned by the beauty of this location. The tent, the quaint little kitchen, the claw foot tub...everything was beyond our expectations. Mona and Bryon have thought of everything that you will need to feel right at home here. We stayed here 3 nights, the night before our wedding, the night of our wedding and the night after. It was AMAZING. The chirping of the birds, seeing deer early in the morning while walking to the comfort station and hearing the zip of the humming birds were only a few of the many delights this little peace of heaven has to offer. An added bonus was Mona and Bryon’s thoughtful gift they placed on our car the morning of our wedding before we headed out. They are truly the sweetest and your privacy is clearly important to them. I could go on and on but I’ll end with this, if you’re debating on visiting the glamping site...JUST GO!! It is so worth it to unwind and relax. We will definitely be going back. Happy Glamping!!

Perfect “staymoon” to get away from it all!

  • 5 of 5

We truly loved this as our “staymoon” until we go on our international honeymoon next spring! It was just what we wanted to get away from all the busy and feel ALONE. You get all the space out here to just feel like yourself and do nothing but read books, hike, do yoga, watch sunsets, bird watch, and cook a meal overlooking the laurel mountains. And the tub? Dream come true! We felt right at home and so cared for. Mona and Bryon are very pleasant but give you all the privacy. We will happily come back!
