I am a Presbyterian Minister serving a church in Pennsylvania who grew up in Findlay, Ohio and Pennsylvania. I love creating charming and relaxing environments for people to restore and revunenate themselves in beautiful and spiritually uplifting natural settings.

Since coming to the Lake Erie, Ohio shore as a child it is a place of rest and restoration for me personally that I love to share with others. This particular property captured my heart because of its unique Victorian details and close proximity to Lake Erie. It has good vibes and great bones. It is a classic, white clapboard Lake Erie Ohio cottage with green shutters. I could envision people being restored by the lake as indeed I have been restored by the peace and calm of this tranquil setting.
My husband and I and 3 grandsons (ages 10, 9, and 7) and two bichon frises stayed at Green Shutters for about a week. It was a wonderful time! The nearby park was perfect for the boys, as they could go over any time and play on the slide and merry-go-round, swim (when we were with them), and jump off the pier and navigate back to the ladder. The house is wonderfully equipped with most everything needed--clean and beautifully appointed. The owner was pleasant, helpful, and efficient in making the reservation.
We will certainly consider staying at Green Shutters again!
This was our first experience in 30 years of marriage renting a cottage. We chose this location because it was a midway meeting point for our adult children who live in NY & IL. I don't think we could have had a better experience. The owner has put so much care & thought into Green Shutters. I really appreciated to see that the owner's family furnishings have found a new home and will continue to be enjoyed. We really enjoyed grilling & dining outdoors on the back patio. Although we didn't go into the lake ourselves, the other residents' children were having a fine time. The bedrooms were peaceful. The light from the sunrise filtered beautifully through the shutters in the master bdrm. The location served as an excellent launching point for everything that Lake Erie offers. Easy access to Rts. 6/2/250 & the turnpike. I might have one concern-might not be the best place for an active toddler due to an open space on either side of the staircase for a few steps. The fenced-in backyard was very convenient for the two pugs that had their first vacation. We went to Cedar Point (don't leave the park at closing time, long traffic backups, even if you take Cedar Point Rd., aka The Causeway), Seneca Caverns in Bellevue (very difficult to navigate), Norwalk Antique Mall, The New Sandusky Fish Market for walk-up perch sandwiches, Meijer super store, Vermillion (street walking), Marblehead Lighthouse, PC Antiques. Only went out for breakfast at Lemmy's & Huron Berardi's, prefer the later. I would like to return and do more exploring.
Our family of four enjoyed this cozy house for a week. The house was very clean and decorated appropriately for being on the lake. Great place for a fishermen or family. The neighbors were nice. The owner was very easy to book with and accomidating. We slept every night with the windows open and enjoyed the sound of the lake crashing on the rocks. Close to Cedar Point and Marblehead. The kids enjoyed the playground. We would stay again.
I spent a couple of days at "Green Shutters" over the Memorial Day Weekend. The location is only a few feet from the lake and most windows in the house have lake views. The cottage is completely renovated and very well decorated in a colonial-victorian style. There is plenty of space and the neighborhood is very cozy and quiet (train and boat whistles may be expected). The house is very clean and has all the basic necessities. The only two things we missed were a frying pan and kitchen towels, but the owners immediately took accountability and will be providing those with the house in the future. Tenants should bring their toiletries but sheets and towels were available and clean. My bed felt really nice and I had no problems sleeping. The owner has also done a great job by making a binder with all the information one needs, including his very own recommendations of the area. I am giving a high rating because the house is attractive, clean and has all the basic necessities.
Historic and charming, Huron’s Rye Beach offers families and other vacationers two great opportunities all in one setting: the chance to de-stress and enjoy a variety of leisure activities -- swimming, fishing, boating, walking, shopping, sightseeing and participating in local community events -- combined with convenient access to high-energy fun at nearby Cedar Point, Sandusky, Put-In-Bay, Port Clinton, and more attractions only a short drive away.
