Galleried Historic Creole cottage (Caribbean/Haitian style) in its tropical setting (petit jardin Gumbo Kreol traditionnel), built 1807, in a time of survival, by a wealthy free woman of colour, Madame Laporte. It is the oldest house in the legendary 'Faubourg Marigny', with original cypress woodfloor, mantels.
2 blocks from the French Quarter and Bourbon street, also 2 blocks from Frenchmen street where locals go to listen to the best traditionnal & contemporary, progressive jazz in town (14 music clubs), go to great and very affordable restaurants (créole, italian, french, japanese, lebanese... ect... ), bookstores, great restaurant and many more attractions.
