Welcome to New-Orleans!

Bienvenue à La Nouvelle-Orléans pour les francophones! Oui, on parle francais.

We survived Katrina, no floods, ( the cottage was built on high grounds, facing the Mississippi river, where Native Indians, early French settlers and their West-African slaves used to live in the 1720's).

We are blessed and thankful. Our thoughts still go the victims of this disaster.

Come and visit our great city !

Our legendary 'Joie de Vivre' can't be lost!

Thank you very much to check availability before contacting us.

A site manager is here, living at the back of the property/ next door/ always ready to help you ).

1200 square feet, not including the front porch and front yard/ high ceilings, original mantels & cypress wood floor.

Galleried Historic Creole cottage (Caribbean/Haitian style) in its tropical setting (petit jardin Gumbo Kreol traditionnel), built 1807, in a time of survival, by a wealthy free woman of colour, Madame Laporte. It is the oldest house in the legendary 'Faubourg Marigny', with original cypress woodfloor, mantels.

2 blocks from the French Quarter and Bourbon street, also 2 blocks from Frenchmen street where locals go to listen to the best traditionnal & contemporary, progressive jazz in town (14 music clubs), go to great and very affordable restaurants (créole, italian, french, japanese, lebanese... ect... ), bookstores, great restaurant and many more attractions.

Safe and very family oriented neighborhood.

Robert's fresh market is 3 blocks (groceries).

About Paul.

I am Paul and we thank you very much for visiting our homepage.

I grew up between the USA and France. What a better place to be than Louisiana?

Paul. purchased this house in 1999

Why Paul. chose Faubourg Marigny

New-Orleans is wonderful and a unique place for its history.

Bourbon Street can be a lot of fun, no one there thinks moderation is a virtue ! But do you really want to stay there during your stay?

We much prefer the authentic 'Faubourg Marigny', this is the real New-Orleans, with its little corner shops and our historic home is a nice, quiet retreat full of old charm, hidden by a tropical jungle-type private front-yard/ front porch.

They are foremost concerned about the rebuilding of our city, wetland issues, global warming, sustainnable development and how to create a clean, green & better city for next generations.

What makes this house unique

The house stands in the middle of a friendly, progressive, quiet, family oriented and safe neighborhood. It is also close to the best attractions in town. Walking distance for groceries as well.

Thanks to the lush front yard, its tropical plants, the cottage is also a nice secluded retreat providing complete privacy and a comforting sense of peace with its own 'mystique'.

Beautiful house with tons of charm and perfect location.

  • 5 of 5

Our stay in Paul house was perfect. The house is very large with 2 bedrooms and a huge double living space (several couches and many armchairs). It has tons of charm, lots of antiques and various local artifacts. I was amazed by the variety of vintage lamps, paintings and photos. The kitchen is large and properly equiped. One bathroom with a tub which was perfect for us. And the location is the best : very quiet beautiful residential street 2 blocks to Bourbon street and 2 block to Frenchman street. 2 delicious breakfast restaurants both 1 block away and the gourmet supermarket 3 blocks away. Unless you are looking for ultramodern amenities, I feel it's the best place to stay in New Orleans and feel the vibe of the city.

Wonderful historically preserved cottage close to it all.

The amazing house was beautifully preserved with all the old hardware still intact. Great location in a quiet neighborhood yet close enough to the action. The host was great as was the entire experience!

Shabby and chic as advertised , but

  • 3 of 5

The property was clean and well equipped except for the fact there are NO closets. I realize a cottage this old was not built with closets but what about tha addition of armoires? In addition all the dressers were jam packed with linens which further made the storage of clothing impossible. Living out of a suitcase!!

A hot tub was advertised. Perhaps it's semantics. The jetted BATHTUB we found was indeed the hot tub!! We decided that 4 of us sitting in the bathtub in the bathroom with a cocktail just wouldn't work!!!

The location was perfect and Debra and Ron very accommodating.

In the Faubourg Marigny, 2 minutes walking from the French Quarter & Frenchmen street/ best place for Jazz, music lovers. Quiet house, built 1803, hidden behind a tropical front yard.

We are also 4 blocks from the Faubourg Treme, the African-American Museum, Voodoo Temple, Backstreet Cultural Museum, Saint-Augustine Church and much more!
