About the host
Hosted by Christy Daecher
We are not new to vacation rentals. Christy and Matt currently own two professionally managed vacation rentals — Writer’s Repose (since 2013) and Poet’s Sanctuary (since 2024) in Savannah. This is our first time managing a property directly. We understand what guests are looking for and are intentional about creating a comfortable, well-equipped experience. Our kitchens are fully stocked with quality dishes, cookware, and essentials so you can truly settle in. We also prioritize comfort in the bedrooms, offering king beds in all primary sleeping spaces (with the exception of the sleeper sofa). Our goal is simple: provide the kind of stay we would want for ourselves — thoughtful, comfortable, and complete. Watch for more photos as the backyard gets an 8 ft privacy fence and the party zone gets further amenities prior to bookings the first full week of April.
Why they chose this property
Long before we met each other, we had both fallen in love with Savannah and Tybee Island in our twenties. The warm water, great surf fishing, gigging in the cooler months, that perfectly kitschy beach-town vibe, art venues, local theater, and miles of bike paths — what’s not to love? Because we live in Savannah, Tybee is just a short drive away, and we find ourselves visiting often.
Many visiting guests wonder whether they should stay on North Beach or South Beach. South Beach has an energy that feels a bit like downtown Savannah — lively, busy, and full of activity. There’s more noise, more foot traffic, and more going on. It can be exciting and fun, especially for a first visit. But with each return trip, the novelty tends to fade, and many people begin craving something quieter and more relaxed. For us, that’s North Beach — a calmer, more laid-back side of the island where you can truly unwind.
A big plus of this home is its proximity to the Byers Street beach access. The beach is only a 2.5–4 minute walk from the front door, depending on your pace. Unlike other beach accesses that require crossing large parking lots and tend to attract bigger crowds, this access feels quieter and more private. At high tide, the water’s edge is often just a short distance from the end of the wooden beach access walkway. The area is also popular with fishermen and offers a good chance of catching flounder.

What makes this property unique
Our property is unique in that it offers three king beds, each in its own separate bedroom — something that’s surprisingly hard to find. In addition, the home features 9-foot ceilings throughout the upstairs and a dramatic 15-foot ceiling in the living room, creating an open and airy feel.
As a newer build, the property was thoughtfully designed with modern comforts in mind — details that truly enhance how the space feels and functions. At the time of listing, several major items are brand new, including all four upstairs TVs, the refrigerator/freezer, and the hot tub. Guests can enjoy peace of mind knowing these appliances are new and fully functional.
As we approach our first booking week, we will be adding updated photos of the “party zone” under the house. Coming soon: a shuffleboard table to make the space even more fun and inviting.
