I gave property description 5 stars but the home was actually much better than I could tell from the listing. My family of 7 stayed the weekend for a wedding weekend at Baughman and Thomas Center. The home was perfectly located only 3 blocks from Thomas Center (and cheaper than us getting 3 hotel rooms). It has 3 Super comfortable Queen beds and pit group in living room has rollout trundle plus a comfy futon in small office. We could have slept 8 or 9 people. Gorgeous hardwood with floor to ceiling builtin cabinets. Tons of storage, multi USB chargers and tv in each bedroom. Gorgeous artwork decorated each room. Great dual CHA. The backyard is fully privacy fenced with warm lighting and multiple seating/tables, which we enjoyed both day and night. It has 2 covered carport/porticos so we did not get wet when it rained just as we headed to various events. As I am disabled with a powerchair, I was able to leave my chair covered under portico and easily use my cane to enter as front steps are very short. The highlight for me was the beautiful huge master bath circa 1920's with the largest claw foot soaker tub I have ever seen that also has handheld shower plus a separate 6x6 or larger shower that can easily accomodate walker/wheelchair. The vanity of old enamel farmhouse sink was both beautiful and functional. Last but not least, it was stocked with the thickest softest Turkish cotton towels/wash cloths any of my family (and other guests that stopped by) have ever experienced

I’m a longtime Gainesville local who enjoys restoring historic properties and creating comfortable, well-designed spaces for travelers, families, and professionals. I love the character of the Duck Pond neighborhood and enjoy sharing local favorites, parks, restaurants, and downtown spots with guests. My goal is to provide a clean, relaxing, thoughtfully equipped home that feels welcoming whether you’re here for work, UF events, medical visits, or a weekend getaway.

Why they chose this property

The Duck Pond neighborhood is one of Gainesville’s most unique and walkable historic areas. I love the tree-lined streets, historic homes, and proximity to downtown, the Thomas Center, and Tom Petty Park with pickleball, tennis, trails, baseball fields, and a dog park. It offers a peaceful residential feel while still being minutes from UF, restaurants, nightlife, and local events.

What makes this property unique

This historic Duck Pond home was thoughtfully restored to preserve its original character while adding modern comfort. Original kitchen cabinetry was repurposed throughout the home, including custom bathroom details featuring a Rejuvenation Hardware metal post office vanity and the home’s original sink. The walk-in shower was created from the former exterior laundry room, while the back patios were built using recycled old-city bricks and portions of the original cast-iron tub. Many original architectural details remain, including the swinging kitchen door. The home once belonged to the Zetrieror family, longtime North Florida landowners, and Mr. Zetrieror, a University of Florida professor connected to early Doppler radar development. Every renovation decision was made to preserve the historic fabric and story of the property.
