About this property
Cazadero mountain hot tub cabin in the redwoods
Summary:
Soak in the hot tub as redwood shadows lengthen across the deck of this dog-friendly hillside home, ten minutes off the highway but a world away near Cazadero. Four bedrooms and three baths sleep eight, with a gas fireplace inside and a deck out back. Northwood Golf Club sits 8 miles down the road; Armstrong Redwoods and the Sonoma Coast are within a half-hour drive.
The Space:
Spend mornings with coffee on the deck as light filters through the redwoods, afternoons swinging clubs at Northwood Golf Club (8 miles) or wandering the giants at Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve, and evenings on the deck after a Sonoma Coast State Park beach day at Goat Rock.
Settle into the living room where sunlight pours through oversized windows and a leather recliner faces the gas fireplace beneath a wall-mounted TV — exposed timber beams overhead keep the cabin feel.
Cook on the granite-topped island with stainless appliances and a four-seat breakfast bar, the open layout keeping whoever's stirring the sauce in the conversation. Gather the group at the dining table under the timber-beamed ceiling and chandelier when dinner's ready.
Cooling note: ceiling fans and cross-breezes only — no central cooling, which the forest canopy and elevation generally handle on their own.
OUTDOOR LIVING
Step onto the upper deck for alfresco meals at the dining table under the red umbrella, with forested views in every direction. Pour a glass at the lower brick paver patio, where a square fire table anchors woven seating for nightcaps under the stars. Slip into the private hot tub when the fog rolls in. A raised-bed vegetable garden and artificial-turf play area round out the yard for kids and dogs.
SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS
Four bedrooms sleep up to eight across three full baths:
- Bedroom 1: King bed
- Bedroom 2: King bed
- Bedroom 3: Queen bed
- Bedroom 4: Queen bed
PROPERTY AMENITIES
- Private hot tub on the deck
- Gas fireplace in the living room
- Gas grill for outdoor cooking
- Dog-friendly with enclosed yard
- In-unit washer and dryer
A heads-up for the drive in: Russian River area roads are narrow and windy, and the home sits on a hillside with stairs — worth knowing before you book. Quiet hours 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.; max occupancy eight.
Guest Access:
Climb up to a wall of windows on the upper level — treehouse-feel, towering evergreens, and a stone fireplace under exposed beams — then drift out to the private hot tub on the deck. You've got the whole home, dogs welcome, with an enclosed yard, outdoor dining, and a BBQ. Punch in the keypad code on arrival; up to six cars fit on-site (the garage stays closed).
The Neighborhood:
Your Cazadero retreat sits in the heart of Sonoma County's most secluded redwood canyon, where Austin Creek winds through towering coast redwoods. Just 2.1 miles away, Cazadero General Store provides essentials and local character. For heartier provisions, Bartlett's Market in Monte Rio is 4.4 miles, while Safeway in Guerneville is 4 miles for full grocery runs. Adventure surrounds you — hike the Islands in the Sky Trailhead (4.1 miles), explore Patterson Point Preserve (3.3 miles), or head to the famous Goat Rock Beach (5 miles) where the Russian River meets the Pacific. Wine lovers can taste at nearby Porter-Bass Winery (5.7 miles) or the renowned Korbel Winery (5.8 miles). Dining options cluster in nearby Guerneville: grab authentic Mexican at Guerneville Taco Truck (3.9 miles), upscale comfort food at Saucy Mama's (3.7 miles), or fresh sushi at ZENSHI (3.9 miles).
Getting Around:
Cazadero is about an hour and 45 minutes from San Francisco via 101 and River Road — a scenic drive into a quiet redwood canyon. You'll have parking for up to 6 vehicles in the driveway. A car makes the Russian River Valley and Sonoma Coast easy to explore, from redwood groves to coastal bluffs. Cell service gets patchy in the redwoods, so downloading offline maps before you arrive is worth it.
Other Things to Note:
While there's no air conditioning, the home stays naturally cool thanks to the redwood canopy and mountain elevation — ceiling fans in bedrooms provide additional comfort.
Your two dogs are welcome! Please follow these guidelines: never leave pets unattended, keep them off furniture, use a mat under water bowls, wipe paws when entering, and always clean up waste while keeping pets out of garden beds.
The smart lock makes arrival easy, but cell service is spotty so save your access code before arriving. The vegetable garden is established and thriving — feel free to harvest any ripe produce during your stay!
Internet is available, though many guests embrace the digital detox that Cazadero naturally provides.
The fire pit is decorative only.

The house was very clean and comfortable for our stay, and the check in was really straightforward. We spent the whole trip at the house/in the yard, and it is really nice and private. We would recommend that the management leave more things available for use, like more dishwasher detergent packs and extra dish towels because we found that it wasn’t enough when we were cooking all our meals at home. It would have been nice to have the option for early check in or late check out, as 10:00 am to leave is pretty early. The house does sleep 8, but there are only 6 dining chairs, so that was a bit unusual. Overall we would recommend, and the “issues” we had could easily be improved!
Our group of friends started for a long weekend and really enjoyed this spot. Very secluded location, beautiful grounds, cute house, and accurate descriptions.

Magical cabin in the redwoods
Our group had an excellent time at this Cazadero cabin. We enjoyed the hot tub among the redwoods, games on the grass, and BBQed all weekend. I would highly recommend this house to anyone looking for a relaxing weekend getaway.
We had a relaxing stay and enjoyed all the property and area had to offer. The kitchen is fully equipped and allowed us to make delicious meals. We enjoyed the hot tub, corn hole and indoor games. We all slept well in the comfortable beds and stayed warm with the two fire places. The beach is not far away where we went for walks. We also hiked in the redwoods and had a few meals in the small near by towns.
And this property has plenty of room. The house was clean and ready for us when we arrived. The kids had a great time playing cornhole and we had a great time in the hot tub.

Beautiful mountain retreat
We loved this house! The beds are comfy and bedrooms spacious. It has a nice living room area with comfortable recliners and sofa. Great for movie nights. Nice size kitchen. But the highlight was for sure the private backyard and hot tub under the stars surrounded by red woods. Great place to relax enjoy family and nature.
This is a relaxing place to stay. The only issue is the person cutting the wood at 7AM. No cool. But we would still at your amazing house

A wonderful girls weekend
We had a wonderful weekend full of laughter and fun. We had flowers and chocolate left at the house for us when we arrived!! The kitchen was well equipped. The hot tub was large, the beds were comfy. The corn hole was great! The gardens were beautiful!
I was a bit surprised how small the dining room area was. It looked much bigger in the pictures.
Absolutely outstanding property in a private, expansive, gorgeously manicured property with beautiful Redwoods and trees surrounding it, with views across the canyon. Hot tub nestled in a ring of Redwoods. The starry skyline is mesmerizing. Magical. The home is comfy. The kitchen is large and a great congregating area. The bedrooms are roomy and the beds a super comfortable. We loved this place for 6 days. The area must be scene. The Russian River Valley is exquisite.
Everything was great except for the appliance issues. The toaster and refrigerator didn’t work properly. The garbage disposal and dishwasher needed repair during our stay. Could use some upgrades to the appliances.

Great place to spend a week with friends. We had a couple of under 3's and parents and there was plenty of room for all. The kids didn't wake anyone but their own parents when they couldn't sleep. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking many different dishes. You are secluded but not too far from a a grocery store or a restaurant. Cons: There are 3 bathrooms, but only 2 showers. There was a leak from the ceiling in the living room, caused by the rain which was concerning. The provided towels were a bit small for a anyone larger than average.

Thank you, Shawn, for your feedback. We are happy you enjoyed this home. We sincerely apologize for the issues you have encountered during your stay and we appreciate you bringing this to our attention. We will continue to work with both our local staff and homeowner to make improvements to this home, and we hope you'll give us a second chance to impress you.
We had a great time at this property, however; we would not stay again.
Pros: great location, excellent outdoor living areas, nice downstairs common areas.
Cons: cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired. The carpet is dirty, kitchenware was far below subpar (Food on plates and utensils, chipped cups/plates and only 8 of any utensil). The linens were not clean- lots of hair on towels/sheets,etc. NONE of the bedrooms or bathrooms had a solid door- almost all had glass doors with gauze curtains, which do not provide any privacy at all. The windows in the bathrooms have no covering at all to the outdoors.
There were no sufficient cleaning supplies for us to clean the areas, either. We could not find a vacuum or bleach or general surfactant.
The paper goods (paper towels/toilet paper) were one ply.
The vents in the upstairs floor are simply windows to the lower level- there is no subfloor or hvac. When the lights/tv are on in the living area below, it is loud and brightly shining through the vent.
All bathrooms need a serious update.
There is only hot water for one shower/laundry/dishwasher at a time.
Like I said, we enjoyed the beautiful yard.
