Great Location, Excellent View & Nice Family
Gilda House is conveniently located just outside of the town very close to bus stops. I would caution anyone who thinks they can drive the hairpin curves along with speeding motorbikes and large buses around every corner. Take the bus!!!
Rosa was very friendly and helpful. She speaks English which was a benefit and was more than willing to make reservations for us. By the way, several restaurants offer a car service which was great.
The views from the room were spectacular. Lemons and oranges grow plentifully on the property and the oranges were delicious (I wanted to try the lemon but didn't.)
Our room was large with a kitchen, bedroom and bath. Good water pressure in the shower. We were just 2 but the room would have slept more. Loved every minute of our stay!
The apartment was in an amazing location, away from the crowds in Positano but within walking distance to the centre. Gilda, Guisippe and Rosa were very helpful and accomodating to our requests. We had groceries delivered and enjoyed cooking most nights in the apartment which had views that were second to none. Gilda was especially sweet and brought us homemade food when we sat in the common area. Without hesitation we would recommend Holiday House Gilda to anyone visiting the Amalfi Coast
A very pleasant 4 days in Positano
We (my wife and I) enjoyed a great stay at Guesthouse Gilda in early September. The location, the serenity, and the views were all outstanding. The owner-hosts were charming and fun (despite difficulty in communicating given our ignorance of Italian) and the staff (who were able to communicate with us in our native tongue) were great too. Oh and the cats were pleasant and charming too.
We cooked some of our own suppers in our kitchen and ate out on the terrace - fun. We traveled to Positano in a private rental car and we took advantage of the private parking offered, at additional cost. That worked out fine for us even given the hair-raising experience that driving the Amalfi Coast is known for. We only took the car out to travel to other towns along the coast.
Be advised, the town itself is not outside the front door. We walked into town multiple times (less than 1km to the one-way road through the lower town), it was a bit challenging at first, but the views along the way and the "being immersed in the day-to-day experience" made it worth it for us over the public bus line that stops right outside the door - which we also took.
We'd stay there again and we recommend it to others.
Warm hospitality, spacious apartment, peaceful and scenic location overlooking Positano.
Gilda and her daughters were warm, extremely helpful hosts. It is like visiting a second cousin you've never met in a foreign country, and they want you to have a perfect vacation so they treat you with familial affection and give lots of support.
We loved staying just outside of Positano where it is quieter and more verdant. There is a convenient walkway with approx 230 steps down to the nicest beach in the area, the Arienza beach club. There you can sit for free on one side or utilize the beach club for a small fee. Chair, umbrella and table and also towel rental available. The restaurant at the beach club was really good and the staff are very friendly. Frozen cocktails were excellent too and not too expensive (€8). It is helpful but not necessary to make a reservation.
We walked to Positano and back one evening for dinner. Other evenings Rosa suggested 3 different restaurants who came at our chosen time to shuttle us back as forth. All 4 of the recommendations were truly excellent. I will review them all 5 or 4.5 stars. We also utilized the local bus, regional bus and water taxi all of which are right there to use! You will enjoy comfortable and extremely spacious lodgings with a world class view and locale. The hosts were the best part along with the views. A delightful and authentic Italian family experience. We hope to return again someday!
Holiday House Gilda, just outside Positano and an easy walk into town. Also good bus service. Great greeting on arrival, nice balcony overlooking the sea, Positano and the mountains and coast. In fact the view was so good we had no idea what to do with the view!!! And they will arrange for grocery delivery! Lots to do along the coast, places to see, pictures to take. Good kitchen, air, nice family, breakfast if u wish.
Perfect place to fall in love with Positano!
Rosa and all the wonderful woman of Holiday House Gilda made our time in Positano so effortless and special. They were extremely helpful and so pleasant!
Our suite was more than enough, with amazing views from both rooms. Gilda cooks a delicious breakfast every morning (well worth the 5€) while you overlook the panoramic views of Positano!
Steps away from Arienzo beach (my favorite Positano beach), the path down is so enchanting that it's half the fun!
I recommend 100% and cannot wait to come back!
