About Gjoa Taylor or John Bilodeau
John and Gjoa are professionals who split their time between Naramata and Calgary. We have travelled the globe extensively and believe our vineyard and the Naramata Bench is a very special place. We decided to share our home so others can enjoy our vineyard as much as we do. We think its working out very well since over 1/2 of our clients are now return customers. The only sad part for us is not being able to meet all the great people that have stayed at our place in person ... someday this will be different when we can make this magical location our full time home.
Gjoa Taylor or John Bilodeau purchased this Guest House in 2007
Why Gjoa Taylor or John Bilodeau chose Penticton
We fell in love with the area and the vineyard on our first visit to the area. The fabulous weather, warm evenings, local organic produce, friendly locals and fabulous wine are some of the best things Canada has to offer. The geography of the area is stunning with the bluffs along the Naramata Bench. I believe Naramata Road is one of the most beautiful drives in Canada. We love the laid back pace of the area, life truly slows down in this gorgeous part of the world...and the wine is getting better every year.
What makes this Guest House unique
We have renovated the suite over the period we have owned the property to make it more comfortable and enjoyable to our guests. We have tried to think of everything that would make a great stay. Enjoy a stroll through the vineyard at dusk to the pergola with a glass of wine in hand. Walk or bike along the KVR trail to visit several wineries that have fabulous wine and great food.

We had a lovely time at Gjoa’s. Incredibly well-situated for access to wineries, KVR trailheads, and juatbout of Penticton, we were able to enjoy the area readily. John was very helpful and readily offered Suggestions on activities and locales.
Beautiful and relaxing stay
We had such a relaxing stay! The property was so clean, well-equipped and welcoming. When we weren’t out exploring, we spent out time on the covered patio, waking the vineyard or sitting under the pergola. John and Gjoa were wonderful hosts!
And you were wonderful guests! We hope to see you again for a return visit. Gjoa
My husband and I stayed at Gjoa's vineyard from September 7-14. This was our 4th visit, and this year we were there to celebrate our 6th Anniversary!
It always feels like coming home staying at Gjoa's vineyard. All the comforts and ammenities of home available, and now knowing the area quite well, makes it even more enjoyable for getting out and about and always being able to come back and enjoy the views of the vines, the hills and the lake!
This year we enjoyed some SUP with rentals from Sun N SUP which was lovely. We also attended the Naramata Tailgate party where the local cab driver made some special arrangements with a friend to transport us to and from, as he was fully booked along with the bus transportation (small town perks!!) I enjoyed many runs along the KVR trail, breakfast at Bench Market in Penticton and of course lots of trips up and down the Bench to taste the local wines. Gjoa's is the perfect location for day trips further south as well - was great to enjoy the wineries and restaurants in Oliver and Osoyoos.
Thanks again John & Gjoa - we hope to be back again!
Amazing rental in the perfect location!
We could not have been happier staying at Gjoa's. The accommodation is stunning and looks brand new. The vinyard is so picturesque and a great place to sit watching the sunset with a glass of wine. John was a wonderful host and gave us lots of excellent recommendations for restaurants and wineries (listen to John). The property is located really close to the KVR bike trail and John provided us with bikes. We biked down to Penticton and up to Naramata, stopping at fruit stands and wineries along the way, what a great way to spend a day! Book with Gjoa and you will not be disappointed, we will definitely be staying here again.
We had an absolutely fantastic stay at John and Gjoa’s. The location could not have been more perfect, the suite was clean, had everything we needed and the surroundings were so relaxing and beautiful. Most of all, John was an incredible host – extremely friendly and even gave us a ride into Naramata one day. Would return in a heartbeat!
John and Gjoa have created a nice sanctuary to come home to after an exhausting day of wine tasting and leisurely strolls by the lake :). The unit is specious and well appointed for everything you will need for a trip to the Bench. The outdoor patio space is large and private and the adjacent garden area is a zen like paradise for birds and bee's. It was great for coffee in the morning and a glass of wine and a good book in the evening. BTW they also happen to be really nice people and hosts.
Located near Penticton in the Southern Okanagan, the wineries are situated above sweeping sand cliffs that rise from Okanagan Lake, with vineyards that gently slope up to the mountains behind, it is “The Naramata Bench.”
Meandering country roads and spectacular views with 29 wineries, wine festivals, local farmers market, the town of Naramata (a gorgeous hamlet on the water nearby) beaches, golfing, and outdoor activities abound.
Huffington Post recently named Penticton a top 10 international destination with the local wine industry cited as an important factor in choosing.
