About the property

Cabin, 1 Bedrooms, 1 Baths, 1 Half Baths, Sleeps 6

This one-bedroom Otter Rock vacation rental is an endearing haven that's fitting for a casual weekend getaway with friends or a memorable family vacation. Satiate your need for nature and experience the captivating beauty of the South Oregon Coast at this oceanside chalet.

This charming loft is part of the idyllic Alpine Chalets community, a cluster of A-Frame cottages perched on a bluff above gorgeous Beverly Beach. A five-minute walk down the private trail leads to a long stretch of sand that extends all the way south to the historic Yaquina Head Lighthouse. Bask in the sunshine on the sandy beach in summer or catch glimpses of magnificent whales in the winter or spring! Newport is just eight miles south and features an array of restaurants and activities such as the Oregon Coast Aquarium.

Inside the chalet, you'll encounter shabby-chic beach charm at its best. The cozy living room features wood paneled walls, a big western-facing window, and wood ceiling beams. It's a comfortable place to relax after an exhausting day of building sandcastles, flying kites on the beach or exploring tide pools at Devils Punch Bowl State Park.

Sink into the plush deep green armchairs or curl up on the colorfully-patterned couch to watch some movies - there's a DVD player and VCR for you to use. Cable is also included so you don't have to miss the latest episode of your favorite show. Gaze out the window for a stunning view of winter storms over the Pacific, or open the blinds to let the sunshine in on a summer day.

The living room opens into the full kitchen, which is well-stocked and ready for your breakfast, lunch, and dinner preparations. Cook and share meals together at the dining room table that seats four. All of the major appliances including a refrigerator, stove-top/oven and microwave are present and accounted for except a dishwasher. But, there is a coffee grinder to make your morning cup of brew with freshly ground beans. And Mo's West is a few blocks away where you can devour bowls of world famous clam chowder on nights when you don't feel like cooking or washing dishes.

When the sun has set and no one can keep their eyes open, beds are available to offer everyone peaceful respite from the day's activities. For guests who desire a bit more privacy or don't care to climb the stairs, a cozy bedroom is downstairs right off the living room. This darling room has a queen-sized bed with bright cheerful bedding and a wooden dresser to store your belongings. There is also a full bathroom on the main floor.

The loft upstairs is ideal to ensure the kids aren't cooped up in cramped quarters. This bright and open area has two twin beds on one side, and a queen-sized bed in the opposite corner of the loft. A warm space, the upstairs guests will be treated to reading lamps, bedside tables, a second TV and the soft glow of natural light shining through the windows. For added convenience, there's also a half bathroom on this level.

This well-designed Oregon Coast vacation rental will comfortably sleep up to six guests. And although you are only 100 feet from white foaming ocean waves, Wi-Fi is available in this home so you can meet your deadline at work or catch up on emails.

Fill your senses with the natural beauty and tranquility of the Oregon Coast during your stay at this enticing chalet!

About Vacasa, OR - Oregon Coast Office

Thanks for considering a Vacasa home! We provide full-service management for privately owned vacation homes, and like to think that we offer our guests the best of both worlds: the unique experience of staying in a one-of-a-kind vacation home, with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that the home you book for your special vacation is cared for by professional housekeepers and property managers.

Vacasa began in 2009, simply because our founder and CEO Eric wanted to find a better way to share his wife’s family’s summer home in Long Beach, Washington with guests as a vacation rental. Eric and his early team worked to build Vacasa on the premise that local employees can do what they love most (taking care of guests, homeowners, and properties), while the hands-off tasks of vacation rental management—things like marketing, filing taxes, and maintaining a website—could be handled by a specialized central support team.

Our passion is connecting travelers with the unique experience of staying in a vacation home, and we would be honored to be your host. Please contact us with any questions about this home—our team is standing by!

Quick trip for two

 • 4 of 5

Location is excellent, steps away from the beach. Tough to find in the dark be sure to set trip meter and pay attention to distances from Lincoln City/Newport as Otter Loop runs quite a distance along HWY 101.

Renovations really needed

 • 3 of 5

We loved the location and the quaint setting of the chalet. However, how hard is it to clean the badly stained carpets and fix the broken blinds that wouldn't close completely. Carpet should not even be that close to kitchen. The chalet was well stocked with needed items and the grounds were well maintained.

Owner's Response: Carpet cleanings will be taken care of this fall, and we will inspect the blinds. Thanks!

Great location

 • 3 of 5

We stayed in unit #4 of the Chalets. The location was wonderful. Close to Newport, Depoe Bay and Lincoln City. The outside property was well maintained and the manager very pleasant. A great area for picnics or campfire was available. The beach access was very close but also rather steep. We had no problem but, anyone with mobility issues could find it difficult. The inside of this unit could use a little TLC. The carpet is very stained. I'm sure it was clean but the visual was a big turn off. The loft window, which had a great view, did not have a screen and the blinds were broken so we chose not to sleep up there. The queen bed was comfortable and the bathroom acceptable. The kitchen needed a few more cooking utensils and at least a couple of decent knives. I would have brought things from home had I known. We would probably consider staying in one of the other units if we were guaranteed they were in good shape.

NOT THE SAME

 • 1 of 5

Let me say that as a family we have been coming to the Chalets for over 30 years. They are old but have always been clean and comfortable. That is the reason we have always returned. This is the first time we have stayed since new ownership and it was dissappointing. Upon arrival the kitchen floor was dirty. The garbage had not been emptied from previous renters. The carpet was extremely filthy. I called Vacasa and they called me back about 30 minutes later. She said she could send housekeeping out for kitchen floor and garbage. We had already cleaned floor and taken out garbage. When it came to the carpet I was told it is the "end of season, and she would let owners know. " Later that night, doing dishes, noticed that leaky pipe under the kitchen sink. Their fix was to put a bucket under the leak. I didn't bother to call them because I figured "end of season." I don't expect new furnishings because the majority of people don't take care of things. I do expect things to be CLEAN!! Hunt is on to find a new place to stay! Shame because we have always loved staying at the Chalets.

Great place

 • 5 of 5

My family of 5 had a great time staying here. Our three boys (2 teens, 8 yr old) loved having the upstairs to themselves. I was pleased to see the Fiestaware dishes in the cupboard but other kitchen utensils were very minimal and basic. The trail to the beach was longer than I had anticipated but it's not bad at all. We found the location between Newport and Depoe Bay to be perfect and look forward to coming again.
