Andrew West grew up in Redlands, California while Christina grew up in Wellesley, Massachusetts. When looking for a place to raise our family, we settled in beautiful Louisville, Kentucky, where we have now lived for nearly 18 years. We love Louisville for its sophisticated living with a healthy helping of southern hospitality!
Christina West purchased this estate in 2006
We fell in love with Stonecote because it offers the best of everything! It is a rare find: a 5 1/2 acre equestrian estate in the heart of Louisville! The setting is absolutely beautiful at Stonecote (built c1920) and is a private, country-like retreat. The 50 x 25 ft heated pool with shooting fountains is a great place for the kids to play and the adults to relax on spring and summer evenings. Stonecote feels like a secluded, private park and is a perfect setting for many different occasions. The historic, hometown feel of Louisville makes it a great place to visit…any time of the year.
Stonecote has an amazing flow for entertaining and an enormous, top-rate, gourmet kitchen (making it perfect for fundraising and other catered events), and plenty of room to gather, as well as ample areas to 'get away'. We would know, as we raised our 6 children in this home. :)
We decided to do "The Bourbon Trail" and used this beautiful estate as our home base. The pool was amazing and the interiors were so spacious. All the detailed furnishings really showed the character of the home. We were a large group of 15 adults and 1 baby and everyone had their own space since the house was large enough to have our private areas but also lots of living quarters in which we could come together for meals and to congregate. The home is convenient to all that Louisville had to offer - we all had a great time and this home was clean, comfortable, spacious and fun!
This home is absolute beautiful. The grounds and outdoor space were great. We throughly enjoyed the pool and diving board.
The house is very large with plenty of room for large groups. All the rooms are very inviting and the beds are all comfortable. The kitchen is beautiful.
Also great location.
A beautiful setting and very comfortable. This spacious home suited our family vacation (three generations) of 23. My husband and I were blessed to occupy the master bedroom as it was quiet and relaxing. A side note: We thought the den/office was part of the master bedroom. Actually, it's off the hallway on your way to the master bedroom. Thus, it became occupied by my niece and her husband which allowed them to not have to share with others in the "childrens" bedroom. The kitchen was perfect with nothing lacking to prepare our meals. The two refrigerators held all the food and beverages that we had brought. The home is spacious, yet held many areas of privacy and/or quietness. The wi-fi was great too. As mentioned in another review, the pool floor is a little rough. Our grandchildren wore their socks to not scratch their feet and toes. I know other mentioned being close to the highway noise. The noise was there, but was not a distraction to our family.
Love seeing part of the home's history with the servant's call box still on the walls. The location was close to many of Louisville's attractions. Our family will hold special memories of Stonecote. Thanks! A big thanks to Pete too, who provided timely service when called upon.
We enjoyed our vacation at Stonecote again this year. Very relaxing and is always great connecting with family. Stonecote is a wonderful place to stay and Kristina is very helpful. We will truly miss this fantistic home! Good luck, Kristina.
We truly enjoyed our stay. The house was at full capacity with our large group and it still felt spacious! The caretaker was very nice and accommodating. The location was perfect for us...as it took between 10 to 20 minutes to get to the various places we were interested in....close to downtown, Kentucky Kingdom, mega caverns, etc. We recommend little ones bring water shoes for the pool....which is beautiful! ....just tough on little toes.
